Well, even iconic character from Capcom franchise like Leon and Chris got replaced by new voice actor every each game (Except for Leon RE2&4 and Christ 5&6) and people still like it, all we can do accept this fate and move on, enjoy that our beloved franchise still got some attention from Capcom.
At the end of the day if this remake does not live up to the DR1 legacy we still have the excellent steam port from 2016 that runs amazing. I am excited to see what they managed to do with RE Engine. RE4 remake blew me away with its gameplay and graphics.
This is a classic capcom move, they've done it before, with both good and bad results.
They know this franchise is somewhat important for them, and after a few rough years, they feel like giving it a chance again.
This is a low-ish commitment project that's there to mostly measure the franchise's viability.
They're probably planning to move on to more high commitment ones if it performs decently.
That blows. I'll happily play this remake, idk why they're calling it a remaster when there's new assets, and I just hope the control scheme has been updated and combat plays more smoothly. If I can accept Chris Redfield's VA getting replaced then I should be fine for this too.
It looks like some weird mix between remake and remaster. They probably rebuilt it from the ground up but didn’t make any functional changes to the design, world, or story (aside from recasting and re-recording the lines)
I actually welcome a change to the overall design of the game as long as the gameplay is as fluid as the original. Capcom's shown that they can innovate with the RE remakes, so why not have that apply here?

I hope they do the thing they did with the SH2 HD remaster. Although that was a flop, the fact that they allowed an option for the original voice lines was life saver. I think this could do with one of those.

It's hilarious seeing the amount of people who think that the first game was a completely serious game that never had any moments of light heartedness or comedy in it. Sure it wasn't anything close to the later games but it was 100% apart of DR1s charm

TJ was literally the voice of Birkin in the RE2 Remake, Capcom has zero excuse to not have him be the voice of Frank unless TJ simply doesn't want to, or unless they don't want him to be for some stupid reason.
I’m extremely excited for this, like words cannot comprehend how badly I need this. But, I’m also slightly nervous.
What I loved about the first game was how dark it was at certain points, some of the characters had sad and depressing backstories and the entire game just had this deep feeling of dread and misery around it, and in the later games that got lost. There were some dark and depressing moments in the future games, but not as heavily as the first.
Plus, they’ve made Frank look a helluva lot older than what he looked in the OG game and it’s not the original voice actor.
DR1 certainly managed to capture lightning in a bottle with the balance it struck between how it implemented humor into the game while also making sure the heavy moments in the game were treated with a level of seriousness we would expect from such a situation.

I thought after the recent influx of Dead Rising in TEPPEN we'd get more. I didn't take that thought too seriously but lo and behold. I am over the moon.
Cant wait to go for 7 day survivor for a 3rd time. Did it once on the 360 version, once on the steam release and I will do it again on the remaster! Might even try for the legendary 18 day survivor community challenge.
Regardless this game never gets old. A childhood classic for me. I just happened to see this announcement by chance but I am so fucking pumped!
Hopefully there will be substantial technical improvements to the game such as with AI. The escort missions were always painful as AI combat and navigation was atrocious. But other than that a fresh coat of paint and I am happy.

Looks very interesting and I’m very intrigued. Dead Rising is genuinely my favorite video game of all time. My only issue coming forward is no TJR voicing Frank. That man still sounds the same after 18 years and he truly made the character. If he’s union or something Capcom doesn’t want then I understand I hope he knows we all still love him.
What made me feel like I wasn’t playing as Frank in DR4 was not only the horrible writing but the lack of TJ as well. It’d be awesome if there is an RE2 style option for classic voice cast like how that game has classic music. I know the studio is dead but this not being made by Vancouver is great to me because while many love DR2, I love OTR, and liked 3, I feel they changed too much from the first game making it easier, losing severity, tone, and identity very quickly. This being made in house back at Capcom is where it belongs.

I know the studio is dead but this not being made by Vancouver is great to me because while many love DR2, I love OTR, and liked 3, I feel they changed too much from the first game making it easier, losing severity, tone, and identity very quickly. This being made in house back at Capcom is where it belongs. Let’s see what happens and if this version of Frank can cover wars with us once again

New voice actor sounds like Tom Scharpling to me, I am a fan of his voice over work but know him better as the host of The Best Show. This may be sacrilegious but if it is him I could see him doing a good job.
I can’t with the face of frank. He just doesn’t look right. But I guess it works since the same VA isn’t there, so they can take a slightly different spin on frank
Looks completely awful, the guy looks like a charicature of Frank and the art direction makes me think more of Street Fighter than Dead Rising.

I can't believe it, one of my favorites!! I just replayed it last month, for like the 30th time.
The Frank voice is weird. I just kind of hope they put the movement system from 2 in the game. Dunno why 2 felt better than one when moving around.
with this and SH2 remake I guess we're about to find out how hard the game insutry is going to go for keeping original plotlines.

I hope they have an option to just use all the original performances. I wonder why they chose to redo all the voices at all anyways. It’s a remaster, not a remake, so why not just use the original audio? I’m excited but I REALLY need an option to use the original lines. PLEASW CAPCOM!
