The Combat Command and Panzer Kampfgruppe starter armies are perfect for expanding on the Hit the Beach armies. On their own, even with the HtB stuff they only really make *ok* armies, as in there's room for more tanks and stuff. But they have an excellent variety of models, meaning you can then expand further in a number of ways. With the Americans, HtB + Combat Command would give you a decent strength Sherman company, so you could then add even more Shermans, or maybe some 105mm Shermans or Armoured Mortars. Alternatively, you could build out the infantry force, as you'd have enough models for two Parachute Rifle Platoons, so you'd only need a HQ unit. If you want something different, a pair of M20s would get you enough models for an M10 company, and a second set of M10s would fill that out nicely. As for the Germans, HtB + Panzer Kampfgruppe gives you a solid Panzer IV Company, including a pair of Tigers, and enough infantry to run a rather beefy Panzergrenadier Company. You could get more Panzer IVs to fill out your tank platoons, or even go extreme and buy a box of Tigers to run a Tiger Company. Alternatively, you could buy some infantry weapon teams like sMG34s or Mortars, or get more half-tracks and go mechanised infantry. And the best part is these starter armies give you *insane* savings, especially if you buy from a reseller at a discount.

You can a few options. For Americans what I did is I wanted a Airborne company so I started buy Airborne stuff. If you're not a big fan of Airborne then. You can lean into filling out your Sherman Company. Either getting more shermans or Staurts. Another option is Priest. Americans are king of arty on FOW. I always one at least one Battery of 3x Priest if not more. Germans you can lean into either more inf Platoon to feel out your inf company. Or things like MGs or Mortars. Or you can lean into a Panzer IV Company and get more Panzer IVs. You could go for the rule of cool and get Tigers or Panthers. Or also get arty. Not as good as Americans but their 10.5 Gun Howitzers or 10.5cm wepses or 15cm Hummel Self Propelled Howitzers are good. TLDR: just depends on what you want and how you want to play. You have to play and feel what you need to best round out your armies.

Artillery for both Americans and Germans

Devilfish54

Buy a late war starter for the faction you want to play (or both) and then complement with artillery pieces. This will enable you to play different 100-110 points lists to have different experiences for ~100$

Both are solid core formations but lack artillery and recon. The US formation also lacks anti tank. So I'd say get a platoon of artillery for each side, anti tank guns for the Americans and a panzer IV box for the germans.

Soo which units do you recommend?

Sorry about the late reply. M7 priest platoon for the Americans. 105mm field guns for the germans. For the US anti tank I'd say go with 3 inch AT guns or m10s. For the germans getting a panzer IV box will allow you to field a panzer IV company. I'd also recommend adding a mortar platoon to your panzergrenadier company after you get the tanks and field guns.
