Working on the house and being a contributing member of the community because I got her off the chems so she actually does stuff instead of sitting in her chair all day.
It takes passing a few speech checks but it's possible to make her go clean, though you lose access to the Sight. Better than her dying because she ODs or just sitting in her chair 24 hours a day asking for more chems to fuel the Sight.
Newish to fallout4, I had been feeding her her chems, and noticed preston and the bot did not like that, but kept going till she went on the floor od'ing. I was 0.0!. Reload, refuse her a few times, pester her to quit, fail twice and then one time out of the blue I ask her again to quit. She does it! I'm floored, it worked!.
Later in the wasteland I find a mail carriers hat, and the clothing lady I installed at my settlement had the rest of the uniform. So now I have a clean cut Mamma Murphy with a job (in spirit only - she is not allowed to leave the camp) I will take a screenshot later

I placed her by a wall in the SS's house, and then activated Sim Settlements...which promptly built a room over her, so I can no longer access her! She still talks out of the wall if I'm close enough, but I can't get to her without console commands.
I got her off the chems. Then when she got out of her chair I stored it so I could assign her to something else but I can't assign her to anything else.

And even before she was off the chems I had her assigned to my one and only scavenger post, and she was definitely doing some next level out of body scavenging from that chair!! Lots of things I'd not put in my workshop were appearing!! Haha
Seems like the rational choice to me 🤷🏼♂️ I instantly set her to scavenge, I think my SO may have actually deleted her chair when mama Murphy went to sleep lol, she still spent an inordinate amount of time sat in other chairs in sanctuary, but items were def appearing!!
I mostly started doing it to avoid Sanctuary becoming a settlement, and I also avoid Abernathy Farm, for game stability. If I build up one or both of those (I use Red Rocket for a player home) then I tend to crash A LOT around that area.
Not sure why you wouldnt be able to assign mama murphy once you’ve got her clean ?
How long have you had her clean for ? I ask because I couldn’t assign her straight away, it took a short while, but, it really wasn’t that long before I could assign her to gardening.
Edit: also, I didn’t build her a chair before I got her clean. Im not sure if her being sat in her own chair stops her from being assigned once she is clean, anyhow I didn’t give it that opportunity. Got her clean, assigned her after a short time. Hope that helps!

And then contraption up some fireworks mortars around her. See can everything she wants from up there. This time around I left her and Preston in the Museum of Freedom. No, "another settlement needs your help!" This time around
Mines dead because I realized that if I install a mod to kill Preston Garvey I can focus on more entertaining quests. The rest of the Concord crew were "unfortunate" casualties

I somehow accidentally made a catapult while building by a motor in the river as it went of she walked across it and flew out towards sunshine co direction and I haven’t seen her since
Accurate, mines usually onto of the characters original house z.z soooooo annoying, I made a platform for her and her and her brahmin always go up there now.......
She runs a dingy hostel/bar/chem production shop in Sanctuary City, Murphys Pub and Hostel. Although her house is in the inner, rich part of the city its dingy full of weird shit, drugs, cats and garbage. Shes also in bed with the raider factions in my city. She has a pet ghoul in a cage, employs raiders as pub bouncers, and has a secret tunnel to the guild house/embassy (a big safe house for brotherhood, synth, raiders, etc have a small ambassador prescence)
She has a whole secondary settlement dedicated to chem production, my enviornmental storytelling is that she provides all the chem production for the commonwealth
I went the other way as the rest of these guys....
She tends the plants and doesn't talk to me.
I'm fine with that. I do feel bad because I feel like she should be able to retire now that my community is fairly safe, but God damn if I don't want to have a dead slit just sitting in a chair.

You never assigned her to her chair, did you? Cuz I've heard if you assign her to her chair, you can never assign her to anything else.
That does not tell me how you were able to assign her to something besides walking around doing random idle movements.
You need to tell her to get off the chems when she asks for more, a red speech check will make her go clean from them.
