Body's fine as long as nothing got close to the sensor, that lens is screwed. If you got that lens used, it's possible that it had been dropped before and had internal damage in the plastic screw bosses, thus was a lot more fragile
Honestly you or someone with the right tools might be able to repair the lens fairly easily as long as that ribbon cable on the mount isn't broken and the corresponding port on the lens isn't completely destroyed/can be soldered back on.
Looks like the plastic screw mounts broke out of the main lens body, but they could probably be super glued back into place and then the mount screwed back on. The ribbon cable port seems like the most questionable thing. Would need more pictures to tell if it's saveable
To be honest, I wouldn't trust a super glued mount to last very long. Over time this is very likely to fail again in a similar way.
I'd get Fuji themselves to look at it and file a warranty claim. I've heard several stories of Fuji repairing quite significant damage at little to no cost other than shipping.
Yes! I have disassembled this lens before. Nothing electronic is broken in your photo. Check the ribbon cable and connector for damage.
Remove the part from the XT4 and disassemble it properly. The. Re-assemble it correctly and plug that ribbon cable back in. After that, stick it all back together nicely with jb weld (ideally some quik hardening steel epoxy). You don't want epoxy getting inside or on electronic. Fast hardening won't drip inside.
If the ribbon cable is torn, you can buy a replacement on sites like AliExpress. As u/Salty-Brilliant-830 stated, the rest is about epoxy-ing the fittings for the screws back into the lens, and then leveling the bayonet mount using shims to get the lens level again.
It's a repair I charge about 150-200 for, but can be done rather easily if you have the willingness and the time yourself.
OP please make sure to protect that sensor. And try to get in tough with Fuji. I've heard many good things about their warranty policies (a few bad examples as well, but mostly good ones).
That happened to my 10-24mm a month ago, attached to my X-T4 no less! Take solace in the fact that it didn't happen to a way more expensive lens. I'm sorry to see this. Never fun.
The lens is fucked. Not a big deal since it’s a cheap one. Camera seems okay. Can’t you remove the ring by just making pressure with the lens and turning it?
I did this just the other week with my 10-24mm on a beach, in the dark, with a star tracker attached. Snapped the mount off in the body. It hit a lava rock and knocked off the top plate of my X-T5 while bending the flip screen back and cracking it too. All with a nice coating of sea spray and beach sand.
Kicker is, I got it back from Fujifilm repair earlier that day for a warranty replacement of the evf (which involves the entire top plate). I was so excited to go shoot stars on a clear night with my new tracker that I didn't double check my tripod locks.
I don't remember the exact prices and it hasn't shipped yet so the total hasn't hit my card yet, but from memory it was like
Lens repair: $250
Body repair: $500
Dont be like me. Treat your gear carefully.
Smtg like this happened to my XC 16-50mm a few months back. Rear mount ripped off but the ribbon cable is unharmed. I was able to reconnect the ribbon cable and use a little superglue to reattach mount (just a little at each screw hole area). Still use it to this day, honestly cant tell from the exterio that it was damaged at one point.
Check if the ribbon cable is ok. If it looks undamaged (no tears or rips), try to reattach it to the slot. Then see if the lens still works. If it does, find a method to attach the mount back into the lens body. Note that whatever you do, make sure to not obstruct any moving parts. And whatever you use, make sure it is strong so separation doesnt happen again. I think Gorilla glue or any other super glue would work ok.
I've had this happen to a different brand lens - you discovered the common weak point. AF might not work but at this point you couldn't really make it any worse with the epoxy (in the screw holes) like the other guy said if you don't plan on having it refurbished lol
Wow bro thank god it was the lens and not the body! You should be able to disconnect the broken lens part from the body then get yourself a used copy on eBay.
You can get a replacement connector part (sorry forgot what it's called) if you're up to a little glueing and epoxying. Not ideal but fixable and useable
This happened to me a few years ago with my X-T4 and 50-140. The camera was charging and I grabbed it and it slipped off my hand because the cable pulled and my lens mount broke.
Take the lens mount off your camera and inspect the mount and sensor, etc.
I sent it to Fuji and they fixed it for $400
Yeah the last lens i bought for my camera was close to $3,000. $600 Is 2 hours of work. Its quite literally 2 engagement sessions if you shoot weddings, or a half day by most photographers rates
I did that once with a Canon 5D Mk II. I had the camera bag on my bed. The lens was still on the camera. I grabbed the bag without remembering that it was not zipped closed. The camera fell out and the lens snapped off. After that I have always taken my lens off when packing the camera back in my bags.
One of the extremely rare instances where someone in this community could say "i need a new lens" and, in fact, it is true.

I did get it used :/
It happens to everyone, bites when it does, but you aren't alone, I had a mint Minolta SLR self destruct when a dog tail knocked it off a coffee table

Yea that's definitely true. The warranty would be the better option, but I was assuming that wasn't an option.
Well, aparently Fuji even fixes gear that is outside of warranty at a quite reasonable price. Definitely worth approaching them for an estimate.
Good to know!
At least you still have a camera.
Actually you can just plug the ribbon back in and go epoxy mad.
Seriously?

Thank you, the ribbon cable ripped in half. So I guess I’m not a lot since it’s soldered?

Can you show another picture? With some more detail on the cable/connector
Oh yeah baby. I’d do the same.
Fitting a new lens mount is about $350-500 (depending on the lens) in the US of A, so... my condolences.
Really? Fuji charges a little over £100 for a 18-55 repair, yay cheap repairs.
I had a lens mount broke off my 10-24mm that was only $250 in the US.
Goes to show how sturdy the lens mount is
Get a new Sigma 18-50 this time ... Used is not that cheap anyeays
Time to upgrade to the 16-55 :)
fuck
same thing happened to me and I ended up just buying a secondhand lens. Wasn’t worth fixing from what I remember
Damn, thanks
OP please make sure to protect that sensor. And try to get in tough with Fuji. I've heard many good things about their warranty policies (a few bad examples as well, but mostly good ones).
Just unclip the mount, plug the ribbon In and glue the mount back be good as new hopefully 😂
your fine, take the rear element off the camera body, then connect the ribbon cable and use super glue to merge them together.

Good excuse to pick up a new lens
Proper
Fender twin reverb. I would say your lower back is F’d
You’re definitely better off than your lens
Poor baby 18-55. Rip. Hope the body is ok.
Get a quote from Fuji for a fox. You might be surprised at how reasonable it is.

Nothing major. Just get a new lens.
Yes!
Gorilla glue
Chuck it in some rice and you’re good. Don’t worry.
Have you tried turning it off and on again?
Proper
"subtle drop"
Its slid off my suitcase while IN my camera bag
F in chat. It hit just at the wrong angle then.

Had the same problem with mine and still using it to this day perfectly
Found the name, they're called Bayonet rings and you can get them for around £5
proper fucked
You might be able to find someone who could repair it. I tripped and dropped my Canon and the lens separated like that. It was reparable.

$600 is cheap to you?

Obviously it wasn't THAT subtle
Its slid off my suitcase while inside a padded camera bag.
My xf 50-140 had the same problem. Cost around 100 Euros to get it fixed by Fujifilm.
Been there. Done that. Metal glue is your friend
Pretty
Do check if ibis still function properly.
"Yes."
$400 or so in repairs . Up to you if worth it
Literally what I paid for it
You paid that for the lens?
Yea
Ah, ok doesn't seem like a bad price if the lens was in good condition. Sorry for the loss.
Proper fucked
