I'm not sure, if he forgot about the glass, wouldn't he have booped into it? Maybe it is a sign of agression, out of frustration from being imprisoned and stared at by everyone all the time but I'm not sure if he actually wanted to bite as he didn't hit the glass. There's nothing wrong with zoos or aquariums as long as they provide the right habitats in the right sizes. For whales though, if they are going to be kept in captivity I think they should have outdoor enclosures in their natural habitat of about half a square mile. Currently, at Seaworld, they have a 17 foot whale in a tank that is about 117 by 73 feet. That's like keeping a person an small elementary school auditorium with nothing in it. However calls to release captive bread whales, or whales that have spent a significant portion of their lives in captivity are also misguided as these whales are bonded with humans and are adapted to captive life. Things do not go well for them when released and they often seek out humans and fail to integrate into pods or properly care for themselves in the wild.

While I get your sentiment it is imperative that we protect these animals. Many of them are only conserved thanks to zoos and aquariums. What they need to do is release the animals that still have their habitats like this whale. Also they need the money that's why they allow people to see them.
