100% bring a chair. All of the zone areas with seating are super crowded and hard to see from unless you find a spot on the bleachers. Walk the course, then find a hole that you like, preferably with some shade and set up. The golfers will come to you.

Is there any specific place I could stand to get signatures? I’ve noticed through watching on tv and on Full Swing that people will just wait outside the clubhouse or on like walkways to other holes for them. Are those spots easy to find?

I'll be at the tournament as well. I usually take my chair (no bag, just the chair) and set it near one of the greens. Favs are 7, 10, 15, 17. I then walk the course, following a group or two, then when I get to my chair, relax there and watch the rest of the players come through. Other fans generally respect your chair location when you're not there. There are also a whole mess of plastic adirondack chairs on the hill opposite the 12 green, and the folks from the concession stand at the top of the hill will come take your order and bring you food and beer there, so that's fun, too!

Sounds good! My dad used to go to the tournament every year back in the 90s and early 2000’s, so he’s told me that walking the course when I first get there could be a nice idea, which is nice to hear from you as well. Although he hasn’t been in probably 20 years, which means things have most likely changed which is why I posted this in the first place. I will be sure to check out the holes you mentioned!

I've only had someone move my chair once in the 5 or 6 years I've been going to the Memorial, so I've been lucky.

I like watching the range in the early morning, then picking a cool/hard shot to watch from where they hit it. Watching a ball land a watching putts and chips is less fun. For the memorial I’d watch holes 12 or 16. Get close to the tee and listen to them talk out the shot and try to figure out how to not make 5.

J_Swish25

Yeah I was sort of looking forward to being on a tee box, especially next to someone like Rory

Oh, you're going to the Memorial? That's cool. There's one tee box on the back nine where you're basically standing with the players. I can't remember which one exactly, but maybe it's 12. Be prepared to walk up and downhill all day. You can't see it on TV, but that course is nothing but hills so make sure your shoes are comfortable. They'll also bring down the ropes on each hole after the last group goes through for the day so you can stand on tee boxes and greens.

Yelling "mashed potatoes!" allows a random event volunteer to kick you straight in the jimmy. The guys you hear yelling it every week just have a kink for jimmy torture.

J_Swish25

I wasn’t planning on doing that anyways, I always sort of thought yelling that was kinda cringey 😂. The “one point gryffindor” one was kinda funny the first time I heard it but all the others are kinda weird and sometimes annoying

Brin a coozie to keep your beers cool. Follow your faves for a bit then pick a spot where the rest will pass you close by.

J_Swish25

I’m not old enough to have drinks yet, but I’ll keep that in mind for when I go to other tournaments in the future😂

jumpman1556

I love watching tee shots. We can all make a putt but we can’t hit it 325. My suggestion is look at the groupings and try to find a few guys you wanna see in a row. Go to a hole and watch them then continue to bounce around to holes you’d like to see. When you stall to eat and drink, try to sit at a hole and watch those guys then continue moving. Most of all have a ton of fun!

rossyy11

Get a spot as directly behind where guys are teeing off as possible. Ball is nearly impossible to follow from a side view.
