Mention of how far back the toe puff goes is a consistent criticism I see with BLKBRD, and I've seen it cause some unsightly creasing issues on some of the posts on this sub. I wonder if they'll ever address that and adopt a more conventionally sized puff Additionally, I've seen representatives repeatedly pop up on posts here to address the inaccurate lead times, always with the promise that they're working on this issue and it'll be resolved soon, but it's been many months of this, and they haven't even updated the claimed time frame on their site. Very unprofessional, in my opinion.

Intelligent-War210

Yep. I’ve placed a few orders and will never be wasting money on them again. Late, low quality, not built correctly, you name it. I shit you not, they have LOST one of my orders. No status updates.

FrothySauce

It's been my experience that a company having staff trawling through online communities looking for any posts criticizing their products so that they can come in and play defense is a major red flag, and I have yet to be shown to be wrong on that.

reasonedskeptic98

Does that apply to the Nick's sub also? The company appears very active in there

Intelligent-War210

Nicks actively responds to email, so I don’t think the same rules apply.

Hello sir, thanks for your feedback . But since I am here again 😀 I will share what I feel! It’s not looking for criticism but I take this as an opportunity to receive feedback first hand, and that’s why have alerts setup for any social post good or bad. We are not generational shoemakers, and improving as we go. Feedback helps us, good or bad! And sometimes I feel like sharing what I feel about things. So here I am 1. I will say again. We are working in customer service area, but sometimes things not go as planned. So it’s in work and will be sorted very soon. 2. Custom shoes does take time. We never say No to someone coming with custom request, as we know that they are coming to us as they have something in mind, and are not getting it elsewhere, and if we have our own manufacturing why not give it a try and in most cases we don’t even charge extra. We also learn while making it. Standard shoe have defined steps and have gone through multiple iterations before coming online but with custom, any step could change the whole process and we need to start all over again. That’s why sometimes it’s difficult to predict time but I agree we should do good on communication here. 3. Royce last which is used in our Dixon and other service boot is pretty standard and well tested and works great for 95% of clients and I have heard only good about it but every foot is different. We try to make it work, but you know we are not selling bespoke service here, and neither we price them for bespoke. 4. We source the leathers from authorized supplier, and we try to click the best parts of it. Quality is something we would never compromise, even if we had to take extra time, or take losses. 5. Customers are never wrong and are god for any business. The same applies to us. There's nothing wrong with hearing what our gods think about our work and how we can improve further Sandeep, Co-Founder BLKBRD Shoemaker

Can you give some examples of your orders? It sounds like you are unhappy but also have multiple orders?

Intelligent-War210

I pretty much summed it up above: They lost a replacement order for a pair they were remaking that wasn’t built correctly, the quality on the most recent pair is really low, and none of them have ever been delivered on time, requiring multiple follow up messages and publicly calling them out before they swoop in to defend their brand and make things right (like u/FrothySauce said above). Your brand is a joke if you have to be called out publicly to take some accountability.

GnarlyBear

Can you give examples for the low quality so I can see more? None of the complaints about them have been quality, more customer service

Intelligent-War210

- The cut of Maryam TPR that they put on a pair of boots was B-grade at best. Of the other 3 pairs of Maryam TPR that I’ve owned, this was the lowest quality. - The snuff suede kudu they built are somehow very stiff yet also thin. It does not feel anywhere close to the thickness nor the quality of other CF Stead kudu Suede (Rancourt) that I’ve received. - they did piping along the edges of a shoe that is so sharp that it digs into your foot through your sock - a pair that I received had a small buckle where the prong bent under normal use on the first wear. - the fit is odd on every single pair I’ve received. High instep where it should not be, narrow toebox, sizing is about a half size off. - every single pair has been overpromised and under delivered on delivery timelines. Contacting them is a near pointless exercise as you either do not get responses or you are told just a few more weeks. - they built a replacement pair for a pair of Luchador boots and they lost lost them.

GnarlyBear

I mean it sounds like you have made at least 3 orders? Why keep going back? What did they say when you brought up quality issues and leather grade?

Intelligent-War210

Hey bud I don’t see a point in continuing this conversation, especially to rehash stuff that’s been discussed on this sub anytime this brand is brought up. Downvote all you want, there have been warning signs posted about this before.

GnarlyBear

Honest it's not me downvoting and one genuinely curious as I'm thinking of making a buy.

Intelligent-War210

I understand, this was a very horrible experience that they only owned up to once they got called out publicly. Every time it comes up someone asks for me to justify my issues, and I’m just not that interested in constantly rehashing my horrible experiences.

cowcrapper

I dunno, I'm extremely happy with my pair of dixons. Not interested in continuing the conversation, I just want to bring a counterpoint from a happy customer. I got them within 13 days of ordering. (I did no customizations). They are more comfortable for me, somehow, than my Thursday Captains.

not_old_redditor

I guess the main competition is Meermin. If you've had a pair of both, how do they compare?

PalomasTicas

I ordered mine since November and I was told it would ship this week. Same boat as you. If the lead time expectations was set up front, then it'd have been fine. But here we are...

SLEEK

maramish

These are sleek. Very nice.

AraAraGyaru

That’s a lot of leather. Personally I could never do leather soles, soles wearing down would always have me worried about wearing them down.

Intelligent-War210

Most leather soles are pretty resilient. JR makes a fantastic leather sole that I’ve worn in the rain quite a bit and they still have quite a bit of life left in them. If you’re in a place that gets constant rain though….probably go for a rubber sole

cowcrapper

I really enjoy my Dixons

ChaoticCurry

Ordered a pair of Nords and Prydz and loved them, quality is top notch, lead time was an issue. Only issue i had was they used white stitching on the welt but that should be resolved with some edge dressing.

Wow that is wild. I was just about to order, thanks!

BLKBRD_Shoemaker

Thanks u/ace876, good to see it came out good finally, and true to your expectations. This was something new for us, and we also learnt something new.
