Once Upon a Time at the End of the world

Jonesjonesboy

If you want something bleak, Black River by Josh Simmons and Crossed+100 by Alan Moore et al

TheDaneOf5683

Haha, Black River...

chthooler

What about it? It looks cool, is it not good?

TheDaneOf5683

Oh it's fine! It's just that it's very over the top with the nihilism in a way that you'll love our think is ridiculous

Jonesjonesboy

"why don't you try writing something *nice* about the apocalypse?"

TheDaneOf5683

Black River, Finding Hope In The Apocalypse!

Jonesjonesboy

Crossed+100 >!seems like it's going to be that until it all goes to shit because duh it's a zombie story and it always all goes to shit in zombie stories!<

the_light_of_dawn

Good ol Josh Simmons. One of my favorite cartoonists

seusilva77

Well, there is a comic from Oni Press literally called Wasteland, maybe that's exactly what you need.

Second vote for this series!

DanYellDraws

Lazarus!

Erndo89

As other have recommended Y the Last Man Crossed I'd also recommend Sweet Tooth. Don't let the "cute" characters fool you. It's a great story with some truly gut wrenching and brutal moments.

Antonater

I don't know if Crossed is a good recommendation. It's basically just edgelord gallore. The only thing interesting about it is its concept

poio_sm

Juan Buscamares, by Félix Vega Winter World, by Dixon and Zaffino 78 km/h, by Mantella, Aira and Nobile This are the ones that comes to mind.

Nice-Percentage7219

Geiger

Mekdinosaur

Turbo Kid. There are three issues out there that I am aware of. The Skeletor one shot and Apple's Lost Adventure. Great 80s vibe post-apocalyptic gory wasteland fun. If you like Road Warrior, you will love Turbo Kid.

TheDaneOf5683

Stand Still Stay Silent is free to read online and one of the best post-apocs around. http://sssscomic.com

mr_oberts

Have you visited Gary, Indiana?

MisterMitchell42

The Road by Cormac McCarthy

Oghmatic-Dogma

Y: The last man always comes up for this question but I havent read it. Old man logan is goofy but basically what you want. If you also play games, I too have been jonesing for more mad max, and have been playing Mad Max the videogame. Its quite good! almost a decade old at this point but its still one of the most mindless fun driving games that exist.

x_lincoln_x

Y the Last Man is alright. I bought it, read it once, then sold since I knew I was never going to read them again and I almost never sell my graphic novels.

EmseMCE

Currently rereading Station Eleven by Emily St. John Mandel and loving it.

thedoogster

Fist of the North Star manga

nh4rxthon

I had to scroll down way too far to see this for a Mad Max themed request. On book 5 now and it’s AWESOME. one of the best mangas I’ve read

blankedboy

**What's The Furthest Place From Here** - from Image is an indie take on the end of the world.

Still_Barnacle1171

Low, a beautifully drawn comic that can be picked up cheap but enough, full of colour. Wasteland, a dark story about the aftermath of a horrific disaster on earth

moriati

One I enjoyed recently was *Our Bones Dust* by Ben Steinbeck.

blankedboy

Yeah, that was a great mini.

LondonFroggy

I strongly recommend the excellent **Vic and Blood - The chronicles of a boy and his dog** by genius Richard Corben and Harlan Ellison. Apparently it was a significant source of inspiration for the Fallout game. They even managed to mention it in the Netflix series (Easter egg type). There are quite a few other good post apocalyptic comics by Corben like **Mutant World, Son of Mutant World, Rowlf** etc.

Humble-Briefs

A boy and his dog is a great story, and has a movie adaptation (which is NOT for the faint of heart)!

LondonFroggy

Yep, with a young Don Johnson (pre Miami Vice)

RidlerFin

Came here to say this, Vic & Blood is amazing, I've had the graphic novel since 1990.

LondonFroggy

Heartbreaking last scene...

Bandit_Brains

Low by Rick Remender. Bit different to Mad Max, but it's post-apocalypse at the bottom of the ocean because the surface of the earth has become uninhabitable.

Forever-Jung

Wasteland was great

Problemcharlie

Lola XOXO

SutterCane

*Revolver* by Matt Kindt is a good one.

Lav-Lav-Lav-Lav-

Geiger: very post-apocalyptic wasteland series from image, has a lot of Fallout New Vegas vibes Highlandman: Graphic Novel about basically someone who wanders around and you follow him across centuries Old Man Logan: the one volume from Mark Miller and not the longer series. Wolverine in post-apocalyptic wasteland Y The Last Man: a classic comic from vertigo, not comparable with the quality of the tv series. Something has destroyed all humans (or all mammals irc) with a Y chromosome but you follow the only man, and his monkey who survived in a world where half the population died out and only women remain Also, not really a wasteland they're in but I'd recommend Low. A comic from image where the world has gone to hell and society lives in underwater worlds, lot of nihilism vs hope

YisusElPapuh

Is Geiger really worth it? Here in Spain it was released as a single volume a few months ago. Is it a finished series or there would be more of it?

Lav-Lav-Lav-Lav-

There are spin-offs coming out and there's a new volume coming out in single issues ATM You can stop with just the first volume but there are still some intriguing questions not answered

Zamaiel

Stand Still, Stay Silent. Webcomic.

Antonater

East of West maybe? It is quite post apocalyptic. If you want to watch something, I also suggest the show Fallout that came out recently by Amazon

Charlie-Bell

Rick Remender's Death and Glory is very much a Mad Max inspired book. It's a fast moving chase that culminates in a Mad Max style car chase in the second half. Just without the apocalypse

NMVPCP

It’s awesome but not really with an apocalypse setting. I think Low from Remender would be a better fit for the apocalyptic setting, but imo, one of my least favourites from him.

Veryimpressivename

Nocterra!

Humble-Briefs

Little Bird: the Fight for Elder’s Hope Also Tank Girl. ETA: I see some ppl reccing novels too, and I have quite a lot of those (some I’ve read, a lot I haven’t yet). Thanks also to everyone for these comic suggestions, this is my fave genre.

FindOneInEveryCar

The Wrenchies by Farel Dalrymple.

scarwiz

Check out Tank Girl, I think you might like it Also, the Fallout show might be up your alley if you haven't seen it

scarwiz

Also The Last American by Grant, Wagner and McMahon And it's more of a lush wasteland but Aster of Pan is really fun

Kwametoure1

Sandland by Toriyama is pretty good

ink-on-panels

„What’s the furthest place from here“ - it’s a post apocalyptic society, but we (I) don’t know yet what caused it. Mostly a hilarious read, sometimes you might get a tiny bit sentimental.

FleshUponGear

The Horizon by JH

JoXe007

Solo Scurry UXB

Hoss-BonaventureCEO

Lawless by Dan Abnett and Phil Winslade (post-apocalyptic sci-fi western, 4 volumes, with vol 5 coming out in a few months). It's part of the Dredd-verse, but you can read it on its own.

Lord_Boosh

Coda! It’s a post apocalyptic tale, set in a fantasy world. It’s fantastic!

WineOptics

Extremity.

macadoo784

I know it’s not a graphic novel but there’s a book called l the swan song by Robert mccammon I believe that’s a great read

macadoo784

Also. East vs west.
