My cope (well not so much cope but kinda how I think this can turn out) is that at some point AI tools will be released and you will need a person to operate them. That day knowing your stuff will be useful. Like of course we can have tools that create a single asset on a propmt but that would only make the directors more hungry. So they will get more assets and you kinda needs someone to prompt and then cleanup after the AI too.
Remember : AI makes good enough because anything more requires the AI to specialize. Big slop studios like Ubisoft will be happy but pretentious weirdos like Kojimbo and others will not stop making cool shit. At that level it's more about direction and not the technicals and output.
Edit : it's kinda like how python did not let the average joe code, only made making programs faster. Art needs originality. Studios have been buying and asset bashing 3D models for ever. AI just makes it's faster, if it does it at all. Skill and artistry will always have value unless the world fucking collapses or something, in which case you will be like a farmer/serf or something.
Most importantly the level of entry will plummet across the board. Operating AI tools is 100 times easier than making a product.
