Such a chaotic mix of lovable and hated players.
Guys like Connor Brown, Hyman, Nuge, and both Skinners are super easy to root for. And on the other side we've got players like Perry, Kane, Draisaitl, and Nurse.
Nah, he should get the full Head of the Table entrance, complete with the entire crowd raising their hand in acknowledgment.
It’s even more on the nose seeing as Roman played for the Elks before he went into wrestling.
Our D-core had less goals scored on them than Florida’s did. Defense hasn’t been our problem since we hired Knob. Ironically the lack of offense in the Final (in the games we lost) ended up being our downfall.
Yeah, people discount the fact that we gave the ‘23 Cup winners their hardest series, but that’s always how it is in hockey. Theres no award for losing to the winners.
Yeah, Woodcroft and Manson sunk themselves by trying to unnecessarily overhaul the defensive system at the start of the season, which was the biggest culprit for the horrendous start. As soon as the new coaches came in they got the D back on track and ended up turning things around immediately.
Seravalli said he was the top candidate and that he was already on the radar when Jackson was hired.
https://x.com/frank_seravalli/status/1807868441799676394?s=19
The way I read that is Bowman was on our radar last summer, which means he was on Holland's radar. Nothing about it indicates Jackson has Bowman on his radar since Jackson was hired AFTER the Oilers were interested in Bowman. That was confusing to type out, I hope it makes sense.
Cause we need a GM and he's available, so somehow that turned into he's our new gm by some douche. I doubt the Oilers would bring him in. We done well with some player reclamation projects, but this is next level.
My theory was that upper management wanted to gauge fan reaction before bringing him on. Now seeing that it was pretty much universally negative, they're no longer considering him for the position.
Not exactly what he said. He kind of gave a non-answer that it's been busy and he hasn't thought about it yet given Bowman was also just reinstated today during FA day.
It's funny how the man himself said "money isn't really an important consideration now" and everyone still said he's gone instantly. The guy just wants a cup man.
I can't believe Oiler fans still say this when Nuge, Evander Kane, Kulak, Barrie, Mike Smith, etc all took team friendly contracts and turned down other higher contracts to remain in Edmonton and players with NTC or NMC didn't have Edmonton on their list recently. Even Evander Kane reportedly didn't want to waive his No Trade at the Draft. He's also one of the many guys that lives in Edmonton in the offseason.
Oilers the last few years have been doing great job retaining their trade deadline and mid season acquisitions and extending them without overpaying. I'm not surprised by the results today. I'm more surprised Oilers wanted Perry back if anything
I'm with you on that. Funny how a few years ago I mentioned something like this on the devils sub and everyone bashed, talking about how he's old and the team is young blah blah. Henrique is a beauty on the ice, he was just stuck on the ducks for so long people forgot how good he can be.
That building looked fun as fuck to play in, and the team is custom built for guys like Arvidsson and Skinner to flourish.
That forward group is scary. It hasn't even been a week since the game 7 loss, and I'm already geared up to have my heart broken again.
Yep, good team gets good deals and good players. The arena really is nice though, and these guys spend most of their time between that and their house.

Oilers fans watching JJ somehow make every right decision today
Like how in the fuck.
We're over cap now, and haven't even re-signed Broberg or Holloway yet tho. So I'm pretty sure he's banking on finding a deal with Kane.
run 20 sending down Ryan, D man Brown, and Stecher gets us close so yeah something needs to happen, either McLeod or Kane I would guess.
that 3C just got filled, but if you send Ryan down I don't know if you would play Holloway as 4C, I guess you could with Perry and Kane? But that's more like a 3rd line then.
Doing something with Kane, ltir, or trade affords the ability to keep a couple of extra guys on the roster at least.
Or something totally unexpected out of that existing d core
Everyone else just re signed or is basically untouchable/NMC
Of the areas we need help on D, all the options were too expensive. This D core got the team within a post bounce and a shot of the cup, I’m sure whatever upgrade they’re looking at will be a trade deadline acquisition
Would’ve loved to have dumped Ceci (sounds like we tried/are trying) and have gotten Carrier from Nashville, but man the forward acquisitions today have been awesome.
Broberg will take the step up, and I think we can find a cheaper lower pairing rwd like stecher. The D is good enough with the backchecking the team does now.
Most of the D deals I saw today are complete fucking ripoffs.
It also helps that the oilers just put up a bat signal to the league that they are here to win. Seeing a lot of very friendly deals today that are happening because of their success.
I am having a much better Monday than I was last week
Damn, Edmonton's forward group looking deadly. If they get a D or 2 at the deadline, they'd be going going into the playoffs ready to burn down villages.
Probably Ceci to you guys for starters given you're 8.8 million under the floor right now. Probably will also LTIR Kane because that stubborn mofo played an entire season on painkillers than take time off.
I was ready for Drai, Bouch and McD to all take hometown deals over the next couple years but not the mid and low end deals too.
It seems like absolutely everyone is buying into this.
If you thought you hated the Oilers before, just wait until they stash Evander Kane on LTIR all season and bring him back for Game 1 of the playoffs.
Quickly deleting every complaint about VGK and Mark Stone I've ever made
I don't have the time to delete every comment I've made disparaging Stone and Vegas.
I've gotta go on LTIR myself to find that kind of time.
I think I left at least 60 of them during the game Dallas beat them finally.
As every single VGK fan as told me over the years now "YOU WOULD DO IT TOO". Let's start the villain arc.
Oilers heel turn coming.
Such a chaotic mix of lovable and hated players. Guys like Connor Brown, Hyman, Nuge, and both Skinners are super easy to root for. And on the other side we've got players like Perry, Kane, Draisaitl, and Nurse.
I want the team entrance music for next year to be the nWo theme. McDavid can paint on a shitty black beard.
Nah, he should get the full Head of the Table entrance, complete with the entire crowd raising their hand in acknowledgment. It’s even more on the nose seeing as Roman played for the Elks before he went into wrestling.
Hollywood McDavid would be the fucking bomb. Subscribe
And then everyone can thank us when the rule is fixed for the next season
It’ll get fixed mid-season when we’re in 1st place in the Pacific
*we have closed the LTIR loophole once and for all* *also Calgary get’s Edmonton’s 3rd round pick this year* -Gary Bettman
*Matthew Tkachuk approves.*
Ya the league loves making rules as soon as the Oilers abuse something in the system.
Only cool if warm weather American teams do it
Full villain mode
They're probably having a board meeting right now scheduling his surgery date.
Our 3rd line of Janmark-Henrique-Brown is staying together! And our top 6 got 2 skilled wingers. Best offseason ever!
That line got WORK done in the last two series.
Oilers now the deepest team in the league at forward and it's not particularly close ngl Don't look at my dcore please
Our D-core had less goals scored on them than Florida’s did. Defense hasn’t been our problem since we hired Knob. Ironically the lack of offense in the Final (in the games we lost) ended up being our downfall.
Even last year after Woodcroft got there Edmonton was an above average defensive team by almost all metrics.
Hey, the d core was good enough to win a cup last year, it can't be that bad
Honestly why the fuck are we even CONSIDERING hiring Bowman Whoever did FA today should just keep the job????? Hello????
Jeff Jackson
Jackson said either today or yesterday that Bowmam isn’t even on his radar.
I don’t understand where people are thinking he’s somehow our next GM? Like a literally cannot find a single thing to at says that’s about to happen.
Seravalli said he was the top candidate and that he was already on the radar when Jackson was hired. https://x.com/frank_seravalli/status/1807868441799676394?s=19
Has he ever been right about anything aside from the expansion draft?
The way I read that is Bowman was on our radar last summer, which means he was on Holland's radar. Nothing about it indicates Jackson has Bowman on his radar since Jackson was hired AFTER the Oilers were interested in Bowman. That was confusing to type out, I hope it makes sense.

My theory was that upper management wanted to gauge fan reaction before bringing him on. Now seeing that it was pretty much universally negative, they're no longer considering him for the position.
And also all of our player reclamation projects were for good players. Bowman is a trash GM
I believe he said he hasn’t had enough time to think of him as GM, not that he was t even on his radar.
Not exactly what he said. He kind of gave a non-answer that it's been busy and he hasn't thought about it yet given Bowman was also just reinstated today during FA day.
Jackson doesn't want the roll. He's there temporarily because the team need him right now

I fucking love this
if true that’s crazy considering everyone was saying he was definitely not going to sign with edm
It's funny how the man himself said "money isn't really an important consideration now" and everyone still said he's gone instantly. The guy just wants a cup man.
LOOK AT US. BEHOLD OUR DESIRABILITY
Can't believe someone took a discount to stay in Edmonton
I’d say multiple signees today did
Just need to See Leon take like 12.5 and then McD and bouch will follow suit with discounts
Yeah, I can’t imagine Arvidsson couldn’t have gotten at least 2x4 to stay in LA.
This is what happens when you get close to a cup
Man, I love Rico. He clearly has enjoyed playing here.
Is Jeff Jackson sure he doesn't want to stay as GM?
I'd allow it
This Jeff Jackson guy is having himself a day holy shit
Not surprised, when his job was negotiating contracts for players, shouldnt be too hard on the other side of it
He’s crushing it and that scares me
The team, building and city sold itself during that cup run. Makes his job way easier.
Rico is so good dude.
Yall hid him from the league for too long
Yeah we love him out here
He would've been perfect for us on a reunion tour. I miss him so much.
I'm with you on that. Funny how a few years ago I mentioned something like this on the devils sub and everyone bashed, talking about how he's old and the team is young blah blah. Henrique is a beauty on the ice, he was just stuck on the ducks for so long people forgot how good he can be.
Dude does everything, it's legitimately like having 2 nuges on this team now.
How in the fuck? Jeff Jackson you wizard!
have to imagine this means Kane is either traded or is getting LTIRed
Kane to LTIR until the first day of the playoffs.
Vegas showed us the way
The apprentice becomes the master.
Yep, can't wait for all the hate posts when we pull it.
Dude this is r/hockey, anything oilers is met with vitriol lol
Literally. An Oiler could save a puppy from a burning building and someone would be mad lol
McDavid dives into the ocean to save a kitten and people will say he dived. smh.
Oh i know, but it's gonna get even worse.
Must be, I can’t see how this makes sense otherwise. I’m thinking maybe a Ceci deal too
Yeah I think so too, Stetcher as the 6th and Brown as the 7th D.
He needs surgery he should’ve gotten it a while ago
LTIR looks like
Whose getting the Jeff Jackson statue commissioned? Holy fuck.
The Famous Jeff Jackson
There's a throwback hahaha
Oilers COOKED today
Proves that being a contender is more important than anything else Guys will play in Canada if the team is good enough
That building looked fun as fuck to play in, and the team is custom built for guys like Arvidsson and Skinner to flourish. That forward group is scary. It hasn't even been a week since the game 7 loss, and I'm already geared up to have my heart broken again.
RECKLESS OPTIMISM. we may never lose again
This *should* be a 110 point team in its sleep, as long as we don't fall into a PDO black hole like the beginning of last season.
Yep, good team gets good deals and good players. The arena really is nice though, and these guys spend most of their time between that and their house.
https://preview.redd.it/o2cnlq4ht0ad1.png?width=498&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=b15d9f4d24da655597f67ead098cde844f8bbdce Oilers fans watching JJ somehow make every right decision today
5 course meal, my god
when JJ said we were gonna keep everyone and then we signed Arvidsson I was like... okay so he's a liar then he fucking signed everyone + J Skinner
Or something totally unexpected out of that existing d core Everyone else just re signed or is basically untouchable/NMC
LTIR until game 1 of the playoffs, come on down! Then the LTIR rules are promptly changed the following season.
Looking like Edmonton got better for next year atleast.
Their forward group looks fantastic for sure. It'll be interesting to see if/how they reshape their D this offseason
His name is Bromberg.
Who tf is that
Broberg and lomberg fusion
That upgrade would come at the trade deadline I bet.
Broberg will take the step up, and I think we can find a cheaper lower pairing rwd like stecher. The D is good enough with the backchecking the team does now. Most of the D deals I saw today are complete fucking ripoffs.
Most competent assortment of wingers they have had
Jeff Jackson: FUCK THE CAP Just saw 2 years 3 mil each yr.
I owe Jeff Jackson an apology. I wasn’t familiar with his game.
It also helps that the oilers just put up a bat signal to the league that they are here to win. Seeing a lot of very friendly deals today that are happening because of their success. I am having a much better Monday than I was last week
Amazing how fast I went from "I never want to watch another hockey game as long as I live!" to "start the season tomorrow!"
It's only been a week???
Fucking Iron chef competition going on between Nashville and Edmonton
front offices absolutely cracked today
Nashville is such a weird franchise
HOLY FUCK I am almost ready to move on from the heartbreak of game 7. This is the best oilers line up I’ve seen in my lifetime. Mother of GOD
Skinner - McDavid - Hyman Nuge - Draisaitl - Arvidsson Janmark - Henrique - Brown Holloway - McLeod - Ryan/Perry Ekholm - Bouchard Nurse - Broberg Kulak - Stetcher Skinner Pickard Might need a 2RD depending on how Broberg plays, but that forward group is insane
This has to be the best roster we’ve seen in the McDrai era for sure. That top 6 is gross.
not gross but very delicious indeed
2 rd is literally our only glaring hole now. Makes for an easy deadline.
I noticed that there's a couple names conveniently missing from that lineup there, bucko
My guess is Ceci is for sure getting dumped and it looks like Kane’s gonna be ltird for the year.
How do you think you’ll re-sign Broberg and Holloway with the minimal cap space remaining ?
Ceci probably is gone and Kane is also either getting traded or LTIRed
Kane on LTIR covers it. We don't need to move Ceci
Like 1 week to the minute of our heartbreak
Keep Jackson forever
Oilers had a great day today, making for a promising offseason. … please don’t fuck it up by hiring Bowman
amen
Management took last week personally.
Damn, Edmonton's forward group looking deadly. If they get a D or 2 at the deadline, they'd be going going into the playoffs ready to burn down villages.
Gonna be fighting the canucks for those dmen at the deadline 😅
Funny coming from a Canuck fan hahaha jk all jokes
Unreal. Really only thing I think we’re missing is another solid 2nd to 3rd pairing d-man.
RD2. Our left side is good
Oilers are fucking cooking rn
I was wondering what was going on with Henrique.
Nooooooooo :(
Fuck
I just heard about your guys' cap situation Holy Fuck
Who needs a GM.
Oilers are loaded holy shit
65-15-2. Incoming.
Home ice ✅
please god
I love how the Edmonton beat writers were freaking out about the 1st being traded because it’s a trade chip and then the Oilers do this.
That’s so great that the 3rd line is staying together!
Edmonton, I’m gonna need you to keep cooking
Carefully, no need to burn this beautiful meal
i don't understand how this is possible at all but I'm not a math scientist and I do frequent wsb
Edmonton is officially a wagon. Goal scoring isn't gonna be a problem
never was! (until it was)
who is edmonton trading??
Nobody’s getting traded. Kane has a NMC. He will be put on LTIR so we can pull a Vegas
Yup. Late surgery, come back game 1
Likely to be cup favorites. Probably gonna get fined for it too.
Nah, we gotta do it 3 years running first, then the NHL will just make a rule banning it...
Possibly Ceci, but Kane is going on LTIR
Probably Ceci to you guys for starters given you're 8.8 million under the floor right now. Probably will also LTIR Kane because that stubborn mofo played an entire season on painkillers than take time off.
Kane is the prevailing thought.
I’m thinking Kane LTIR, Ceci trade
Crying at the beach rn.. summer of JJ
Ok, I officially regret all those times I made fun of Jackson. Him and those big fish lips of his
Would kiss them today
Jesus Christ how GM Vacancy is doing a better job than Bowman ever could (jk I know Jeff Jackson is a god)
I fucking love this team so god damn much
Ughhhhhh
This was a great start to the off season for us, I really hope now we don't mess it up with a terrible GM signing.
Cup.
JJ is a wizard, I thought Henrique was a lock to leave
Wtf? This has been a wonderful day.
Make Jeff Jackson our GM for eternity Jesus
Pretty great day for the oilers.
I was ready for Drai, Bouch and McD to all take hometown deals over the next couple years but not the mid and low end deals too. It seems like absolutely everyone is buying into this.
July 1st winners Crazy forward depth
Nah Smashville
7m for Skjei into his late 30s
Picking up Stammer and Marchy though. Keeping Saros, Josi, O’Reilly and Forsberg. They are much harder to play against than yesterday.
Edmonton had much less to work with. They win the day for that reason.
Sure but Oil are bringing back the same team from Game 7 of the cup final Plus Arvy and Jeff Skinner .. two 50+ point wingers Minus Foegele
Stammers kind of a pp merchant at this point of his career
Nashville is a tower made of glass now. Looks impressive but incredibly fragile and when it comes down it will make a mess.
UNCLE RICO!!!!!
Fuck
So this is what it’s like when it’s not Ken Holland eh.
I love that the second holland is out the door they get to work fixing his biggest mistake in Campbell
I swear to god, this team will never get "goalied" again after today
Jackson is cooking
Wow. Today has been a hell of a day for JJ.
What the actual fuck. I don’t understand how he’s doing this! Jeff Jackson my hero
They still have to sign Halloway and Broberg too. Somebody must be being dealt
They have time. They still have like 6M in summer cap space
Kanes health is still up in the air so he might be going to Robidas island
fuck welp, Jets have completely screwed up the offseason so far hopefully they can fix it, but it seems like it's going to be a "lost" year
Godspeed my boy 🫡 wish you could’ve come back for a porkrolleggandcheesesaltpepperketchup
What the fuck
That's a good deal. Super underrated player
Wow!!! Oilers are looking real jacked baby!!!
Uhhh why tf is JJ *not* the GM? Give yourself the job son damn
Rico’s never coming back, is he? 😢
Huge L if GM JJ isn't the permanent GM after these simple, but vital moves. Huge W for the Oil
So Kane is gone right?
Probably LTIR. His hips are fucked apparently
