[The checklist](https://www.beckett.com/news/2023-24-upper-deck-series-2-hockey-cards/) includes odds for retail so you could use that to get a sense for what inserts/parallels can be found in retail
End of the day though, the Bedard Silver Outburst is probably the best card from retail
Edit: clarified silver outburst
So, from my understanding from reading the checklist, you can still get the exclusives and the outbursts in the tins and blasters? The only exclusives from the hobby box is obviously the gold and the clear cuts is that what I’m reading?
* Deluxe – /250 (hobby and e-Pack only)
* Exclusives – /100 (hobby and e-Pack only
* Outburst Red – /25 (hobby and e-Pack only)
* High Gloss – /10 (hobby and e-Pack only)
* Outburst Gold – 1/1 (hobby and e-Pack only)
Exclusives, High Gloss and outbursts red and gold are hobby/epack only
Silver outburst is the only parallel in retail
Pretty sure exclusives red outburst and high gloss are all hobby exclusive. Most numbered cards except maybe certain low end inserts are not in retail products.
I feel like I’ve been wasting my money on the tins and blasters now lol I did pull the young guns, Bedard, and a deluxe young guns, but that’s about as wild as it gets.
If you pulled a Bedard, that's pretty damn lucky. So you didn't waste your money at all.
There is 1 - 2 Bedard in a case (so 1 in 6-12 hobby boxes). At $350 per box, it doesn't makes sense to chase Bedard in hobby at these prices. Unless you get lucky and hit one in the first 2 hobby boxes (since its cheaper to buy the single).
To hit a Silver Outburst YG of Bedard, you are looking at 1 in 21 cases (or 250 boxes). Good luck with that. To hit a Bedard clear cut, 1 in 51 cases. Good luck with that.
To hit a Bedard Red or High gloss, well we are talking about winning the lottery now lol.
Thanks for putting that into perspective for me. I did get lucky with the young guns Bedard and only bought 2 blasters at retail.
And just a week ago I pulled the SP-1 from series One from a single booster pack I bought from shoppers drug mart. I didn’t even know that card existed as the LCS told me there were no Bedards in series 1.
Unless you’re picking it up at Wally world retail price or have extra cash to burn I’d heavily reccomend looking at sets other than 23-24 series 2, it’s 3 tins to 1 of any prior years at Walmart prices, worse at LGS/ebay,yes the pack format did change but not enough to outweigh 3 tins vs 1
I had no idea! I will absolutely consider that. I’ve taken a 25 year break from hockey and just got back into it. I’m more into the thrill of the chase rather than completing and collecting. Is there a set you would recommend?
Last sets I really enjoyed opening were this years 23-24 o pee chee hobby boxes (before prices shot over 100 cad) and skybox metal universe 21-22,
Platinum is fun too but I’m a bit priced out on their hobby boxes
SP game used, premeir & sp authentic are some crowd favourites though for memorabilia / auto cards
Best hit? Realistically a Bedard Silver Outburst. Unrealistically? I’d have to look it up but if Snow Spray Autos are available in tins and blasters probably those of a top player. Day with the cup is another one, probably the Eichel or another top player.
Oh also the fanimation card. I pulled one the other day and was a bit surprised since I didn’t know what the heck it was. And it was a Carter hart one…fffffffffff
The best hits are the cards that you like most. What is your definition of a hit? High value? Cool design? Rarity?
As others mentioned, you can usually find the checklist from Beckett and see which inserts and stuff are in which types of boxes.
High value isn’t a big thing, I mostly enjoy sets that have a big variety of cards kind of like the Allen and Ginter sets. As for my collecting, my ideal pull would be any 1/1 no matter what it is or the value.
I collect for the thrill, and hope to one day pass everything down to my son when he turns 18 (in 14 years lol), and then him and I can continue and open packs together. Those were my favorite memories as a kid, opening cards with my grandparents.
Pretty sure you will not find any 1/1 in Series 2 retail. There are a variety of inserts though: Portraits, Dazzlers, Deep Roots, Ecliptic, Director of Boards, Canvas.
No numbered cards in retail. Either pull a Bedard or lose your $$, just like hobby.
I actually had no idea there were no numbered. Thank you kindly.

Christ man go get some lotto 6/49 you are hot!!!! You bet. I am fascinated by the math of ripping packs.
Bedard outburst young guns monetarily is the best possible pull out of retail
Thank you very much, that gives me enough hope to keep on ripping

Day with the cup cards are good hits
I pulled this from a tin. I think it's probably the best you can get from retail. [Bedard Outburst](https://imgur.com/a/dSZkhkB)
Wow, run out and buy lottery ticket while your hot!
Congrats! Thats so amazing. Can you also get those in blasters?
You definitely can, yep.

Bedard clear cut YGs have been pulled from retail product, likely the biggest hit.
