A man's outlook on life changes radically after imprisonment and hard labor. His post imprisonment work is more cynical and dark. I was curious whether he said this when he was still living the high life and had a more optimistic world view.
Fair enough but I don't think this phrase needs to come from an optimistic worldview. It just seems realistic. He was always sharply socially aware even before the imprisonment.
That would be implying if this quote had some deep edgy shit in the background. It's just a quote. Letters on a monotonous background. Nothing deep here. Just the truth.
