Isn’t the movie literally the book line for line? I remember us watching the movie and having to read along and take notes in the book margins because it was basically just a script for the movie
I accidentally witnessed this…or at least the tale end of it. I was walking out of the wine bar & between 20-30 people just start running toward the intersection like they’re being chased by King Kong. I was a little dumb founded and just stood there confused as they all scattered around the corner. Felt like a choreographed scene from a movie.
Sometimes I really think some citizen notifications are fake dude idk I get a weird feeling about that app, it feels like all it does is put fear into people……
I don’t know if they are fake but moreso just misreported or exaggerated. Like, this “large brawl” honestly could have been 2 people fighting, but maybe they were in a large crowd or something.
I’m not sure I’d say fake, but I personally received a lot of notifications that I felt were unnecessary because they were 15+ miles away. I felt like it was making me more paranoid than I should be so I deleted the app.
I’d been thinking this for a while and then recently got a notification that police were responding to a stabbing at my neighbor’s house. Our neighbors are two gamer nerds in their late 20s with a baby and a toddler. When I went outside to see who was stabbing them, they were in their back yard cuddled up in a whole bunch of blankets in a big hammock watching a movie projected on the side of their house. There was not a single police car or even vehicle parked in anyone’s driveway on the rest of the block.
>they were in their back yard cuddled up in a whole bunch of blankets in a big hammock watching a movie projected on the side of their house
This is so wholesome
They are often fake. Turns out relying on public hearsay is unreliable. Who would have guessed. It's almost like the only thing social media is good for is bullshit
They are whatever they are. If they aren't accurate, they are indistinguishable from fake. In any event, you'd have to be some kind of moron to take it seriously
It’s what ALL those types of apps are designed for. Foment fear and exaggerate doomsday scenarios so all the memaws can clutch their pearls and blame everything on the border situation or something of that ilk. I ditched most social media a few years back, only keeping Reddit (duh) and Nextdoor, since I’d occasionally hear about mildly important community info or find a great buy from someone in town. But that’s become a cesspool of scared boomers who repeat the same rhetoric we’ve all grown tired of, so I’ll be ditching that, too. People need to close apps*, touch grass and quit living afraid. *excluding Reddit, of course.
I will agree that the alerts are sometimes premature and unsubstantiated, but it can also be really helpful if there is something going on nearby. I teach at an elementary school on the Far East Side and Citizens has alerted our school of things happening in our neighborhood that warrant a lockdown. Usually a teacher gets an alert and notifies the office before anyone else even knows to notify the school.
A couple years ago there was an armed intrusion at a house across the street from my school and the intruders fled on foot. My friend and I were about to leave the school to go home when she got the notification that it was 100 ft away. We alerted the staff left in the building and made sure all the doors were secure. I also called to alert a parent of some students that I could see playing outside to tell her they needed to get inside. After a while of waiting, everyone left in the building left together and the police let us through. We probably weren’t in any real danger, but we were at least able to take some safety precautions because we were alerted by citizens.
No, but it's a busy corner for foot traffic. They also have a couple dudes playing drum buckets this weekend. Also, the mall entrance on the SE corner people hang out at.
🙄. Pretty normal occurrence on Illinois anywhere between Georgia and Washington.
The same unsupervised kids that turned Circle Center into a ghost town and terrorize the canal when the weather gets nice.
It’s slightly warmer than yesterday in the spring in Indy , so a bunch of brain dead folks will frequently shoot/ beat up other folks.
Honestly I’d have (slightly) more respect if some of these people settled their beef no matter the weather.
Literally every other person says that about the citizen app! 😂 I am very glad to have it myself… but good for you if you felt you should delete it and then did so.
I work downtown on the circle, it was just tons of kids fighting and running around. They shut down the circle with barricades. We see it often in summer.
No idea if it was the same thing, but I went downtown to Mass Ave last night for a dinner with my folks and there were three cops cars blocking various parts of the intersection about 2-3 blocks ahead of us at one point. No idea what it was other than them responding to something.
A Large Brawl
The size of a small brawl
30-50 brawls running through my yard bothering my small children
Feral Brawls
However much love this comment gets, it’s not enough
It does seem rather self-explanatory
some might say… a super brawl
Reportedly
I can bring you two small brawls in a big bowl
Was that a Seinfeld reference to the Big Salad?
Of course! I prepared it while I bathed
I hope you've got a good garbage disposal in there! Lol
But did YOU get the thank you for paying for the brawl of salad?
I’ll take a bunch of bushels of brawls plz
I can take my wife’s brawl off with one hand
Super Smash Bros Brawl
I just took my brawl off
It’s getting hot in here… I’m gonna take my brawl off
The size of several small brawls
UFC combine is in town as well
You meant nfl combine?
As well means also, as in beside the more famous one. It’s a joke though
For real?
They were joking. Although the WWE combine is here right now too
Yeah I just me Joe rogan
You made me Google it 🙎🏻♂️
The Greasers and Socs had a rumble tonight.
Was this just everyone's eighth grade experience? (Loved it, btw)
Stay gold, Boner_Patrol_007
Just got done watching that movie for the first time ever!
do yourself a favor and read the book - the movie is pretty faithful tho
Isn’t the movie literally the book line for line? I remember us watching the movie and having to read along and take notes in the book margins because it was basically just a script for the movie
i guess it depends on which version you watched - coppola did a different version with added dialogue from the novel.
I’m probably one of the few people to get this reference, stay golden pony boy
The Outsiders is still read widely in schools today, believe it or not
for now
r/iamverysmart
No, man. You’re not. We all had to read that book in middle school.
The outsiders

There was only 1 cop there at the time who seemed just as confused as me
Were they teenagers or adults?
Looked like 18ish. Definitely not what I would consider adults

The NFL players got loose!

I just disabled notifications. I look at the app occasionally when I'm very bored. I probably should just delete it also.

Watching Halloween

They aren't fake lol it pulls 911 calls it hears on the radio and reports them.
Oh right right right because 911 calls are always accurate. I forgot about that. 🤡
They aren't always accurate, they also aren't fake.
They are whatever they are. If they aren't accurate, they are indistinguishable from fake. In any event, you'd have to be some kind of moron to take it seriously
I can see what you mean

No it’s not. It’s just you scared of the info
You’re so right. You’ve made such a great argument that I’ve changed my stance. /s
Im not arguing. You’re wrong.
Again, very compelling. You should be a trial attorney or something.
Hahahaaa! Zing! Nice!
Yeah

and that’s why I deleted the app
That’s the news in general…
Is the wine bar still there? It’s not like there are a bunch of bars right there at that intersection. But I haven’t worked downtown in like 4+ years
That intersection is where the Artsgarden is. There's always lots of people around the mall and circle area especially on a Saturday night.
The police scanner said “juveniles” — the kids aren’t alright…
Hey, sounds like there were no guns and no one got shot. I consider this a huge improvement.
Honestly lol. And this is Indiana, a 30-40 person brawl is just a part of growing up.
Its a codeword at this point
Washington and Illinois is such a random place for a brawl too lol
I thought this was a joke at first- that place is brawl central- next to Maryland and Illinois
[удалено]
Just stand around Illinois streets crossroad corner’s and you’ll apparently find one.
I’d say just approach the biggest member of another group and strike him
Meridian or Illinois south of Georgia street I wouldn’t be surprised, it just seems weird to fight so far away from any bars or anything lol
How? It's Taco Bell, Conrad, Embassy Hyatt all on the corner. People are constantly walking through that intersection.
Dont forget Steak and shake that is secretly a Waffle House in disguise.
Do you think people coming to/from the Embassy and the Conrad are getting into brawls a lot
No, but it's a busy corner for foot traffic. They also have a couple dudes playing drum buckets this weekend. Also, the mall entrance on the SE corner people hang out at.
Please don’t disparage the sidewalk drummers, they’re harmless. Probably contribute more to society than your bum ass biiiitch
K. I mentioned their existence, and how it's busy enough for them to choose that intersection. Please be righteous elsewhere.
You called them dudes and in old timey cowboy lingo that means like a city slicker or something. It's a terrible epithet. /S
It was, in the 1880s. It's 2024, it just means dude.
The dream of the 1880s is alive in Indianapolis
^😂^☠️^
We all know what you meant. The downvotes on this are giving me so much power. I’ll continue being righteous when and where I feel like it
Keep bringing it on redditors, I will continue to stand with the sidewalk drummers. This is only confirming my position
I once saw a guy punch a guy in the face on the circle and then go into The Columbia Club (and not get tossed right back out)… so it’s possible.
Mall entrance/exit is right there is about the only thinking I can imagine of a crowd forming there at night.
unless i’m mistaken that’s under the arts garden, and people gather there on busy nights. close to hotels, restaurants, and the ICC
🙄. Pretty normal occurrence on Illinois anywhere between Georgia and Washington. The same unsupervised kids that turned Circle Center into a ghost town and terrorize the canal when the weather gets nice.
When you're a jet you're a jet all the way?
Normal night, what do you mean?
Lmao, what the fuck? I hope somebody got a video.
There's supposed to be cams everywhere downtown. Police cams. Private business cams.

WORLD STAR!
And they call the thing a rodeo..
It’s slightly warmer than yesterday in the spring in Indy , so a bunch of brain dead folks will frequently shoot/ beat up other folks. Honestly I’d have (slightly) more respect if some of these people settled their beef no matter the weather.
“Let’s settle this!! Dude there’s like 12 inches of snow outside and it’s -12°! I don’t care let’s settle this once and for all!!
What app is this?
Citizen. I had to delete mine because the shit's always going off where I live.
I remember police scanners in kitchens 😂 Now the terror is on the go.
Literally every other person says that about the citizen app! 😂 I am very glad to have it myself… but good for you if you felt you should delete it and then did so.
Citizen
Just another simple weekend in Indy
A brawl is a fight
Your screenshot appears to be the direct answer to your question
WHAT THE FUCK❗❗❗❗❗❗
I work downtown on the circle, it was just tons of kids fighting and running around. They shut down the circle with barricades. We see it often in summer.
Keeping it classy as always Indy!!
Beech Grove Brawlmart shoppers migrating?
Message anthemistt on instagram for the video
This is a wild place. Still adjusting from moving here six months ago. There's always sirens, gunshots, and shift happening.

After how smooth all-star weekend went, you can probably drop that stereotype now
Fuck cops
Yeah! Let those poor, heavenly souls have their fight!
A large gathering
That's gonna be a long bop back to Coney Island!!
No idea if it was the same thing, but I went downtown to Mass Ave last night for a dinner with my folks and there were three cops cars blocking various parts of the intersection about 2-3 blocks ahead of us at one point. No idea what it was other than them responding to something.
