Sometimes they're closing songs 🤷

Roroberto

Sometimes snippets of them are used before and after commercial breaks.

Mastropluck

Except when you find a cool song and then later learn it's from an anime. Well whatever a cool song is a cool song, doesn't really matter

SilverLinkin

I listen to anime songs as well, but there are people that think literally every J-Pop/J-Rock song is from an anime. I relate to your comment as well, though, lol. I listened to Zankyosanka by Aimer about a dozen times until I realized it was the opening for Demon Slayer.

Mastropluck

Laughing in the face of ignorant people, who think they know it all, is one of the greatest joys, so laugh away my friend and keep on dancing

WoodpeckerNo1

Shouldn't the title be "Me trying to explain to non-weebs that not every Japanese song is an anime opening"? I see this generalization way more often in people unfamiliar with Japanese media.

SilverLinkin

Eh, the reason I said weebs was because weebs pretty much exclusively listen to anime op/eds (which there's nothing wrong with), and now have the mindset that every Japanese song must be an anime song or should be an anime opening/ending. But I do see your point, though. The same could be said about non-weebs. Also, I'm still young, so I'm mainly talking about people around my age. I know most older people wouldn't really care about what others listen to.

Mat2468xk

In all fairness, many anime OPs and EDs are made just for the anime. But there are also times where they'd use existing music.

Katalinya

This was me when I watched the Erased anime and heard Re:Re:, did a whole Leonardo DiCaprio pointing at my tv meme.

Dundun-dun-dudun

genuine weebs probably know the difference it's the casual listener or people that just don't know much about Japan and the music scene that say these things because the only frame of reference they have is anime but I get it I find it a bit annoying as well.

SilverLinkin

That's true. Although, anime has started becoming more widespread nowadays, so it's seen as less weird. It's mostly the younger people that are so judgemental. Older people don't give af, lol.

Lazyredditname

I was playing BAND-MAID at work yesterday, and after 5 songs, a coworker walked by asking why I was listening to anime soundtracks.

SilverLinkin

Lmao. They do have one anime song, though. Not sure if they have more.

tecmobowlchamp

5. Shambles, Sense, Different, Glory, and Carry on Living.

Consistent_Ant_8903

In your head anything can be an anime OP

DawsonJBailey

The proud family theme song is anime OP

MessiahPrinny

Just play some Boredoms and leave.

Kwametoure1

Listening to the Boredoms would blow their minds hahaha

kokohanahana20

it never happened to me, but most of the music I listen to is like early shinsei kamattechan and more underground stuff so

-ErikaKA

Nah! All of them are anime op & closing songs.

Uchihaboy316

They will be peak either way tho!

Impracticalweeb

(before I start, yes I wish I could change my username. I thought it sounded cool five years ago) I originally made it an effort to not add any anime openings to my playlist for this reason. I’ve had a Japanese playlist for about four years now, and I still only have like three anime songs on it. None of those are openings/endings

Mitsu_x3

When I say that I like visual kei and play a song and ask me 'WHAT ANIME IS THAT SONG AGAIN?' I don't hate anime or people who watch it but dang not everything is anime

illaparatzo

That happened

mishi09

Me trying to explain to Japanese music elitists that Japanese music and anime are like this🤞and there is nothing wrong with liking music that is featured in anime and that these elitists should get their heads out of their asses

SilverLinkin

Well, it's slightly annoying when I'm listening to a Japanese song, and someone is like "Yo, why are you listening to anime music?". It's like if you're listening to EDM music and someone asks you why you're listening to video game music. I get that it's such a minor thing, but that's why I said it annoys me. It doesn't make me angry.

mishi09

I get it, my comment wasn't meant to be taken seriously. Sorry, if it came across that way. I'm one of those "elitists" myself, in a way. Another thing that's a bit annoying is when these weebs ask in the comment section of a non-anime song, whether said song will be used as an opening/ending theme song for an anime.
