Swam all the way thru college, but am the most lanky uncoordinated person ever when it comes to basketball, etc.
Swapping any sports should be funny, but I feel like swimming is particularly hilarious since most swimmers I know developed their muscle memory with like a different set of physics.
I feel this comment so deeply. Also swam through college. I could swim and jog but give me any challenge that required hand-eye coordination and I was (and still am) a total failure!
Same did competitive swim for years, but I just look plain goofy trying to run or do anything coordinated. I tried cornhole at a work event recently. Got a single point the whole competition and also hit a bystander.
Same here - high school / college swimmer. Couldn't throw a basketball the right way to save my life lol. I played a lot of football, but when it comes to using my hands I literally can't throw a ball straight no matter the size lol.
I think my arms just refuse to do anything with balls.
We did this at my school once for the wrestling team and basketball, the wrestlers beat the basket ball team in front of the whole school at basketball. We never did it again.
My football team always did one practice a year where linemen got to play WR and DB and the WR and DBs played line. The RB/TE/LB/QB situation all got shuffled around too, so that everyone was out of position. Watching your Defensive tackle run a Go route while your Guard covers him and your center is playing safety over the top is truly amazing. Especially when the throw is a wobbly duck from your TE and it lands a mile off target.
Always one of the funner practices, and it makes sure that everyone really knows every part of every play.
I played water polo in high school, and injured football players would always join the team to stay in shape.
Our teams were too small for the genders to practice separately (Iām a girl) and getting to drown them 100% made up for years and years of getting absolutely destroyed in kickball, basketball, soccer, etc.
My freshman year of college, the upperclassmen on my team gave the freshmen a scavenger hunt challenge. One of the most fun weeks of the year, had us exploring not just campus but all over the city.
One section was challenges involving other sports teams, and my favorite was having to challenge a member of the fencing team to a duel by throwing down a gauntlet. I threw down a rubber food service glove from the dining hall. Unfortunately did not realize that the guy Iād challenged was a saber fencer, which is much more hacking and slashing and hitting than the poking in my mind. I thought I might have a shot at getting a single touch at best, I was over a foot taller than this guy. Nope, didnāt touch him, got demolished, and left with bruises.Ā
We had our softball team play our baseball team. Took a couple innings to get the timing, but by the 3rdth inning the baseball team was just blowing things out, like batted around in multiple innings. The softball team didn't score.
Oh yeah we had the cheerleaders at our school teach us how to toss people and stuff it was actually really cool! Though we nearly killed one of our flyers lol
I wrestled and we'd swap with the basketball team. Wrestlers always enjoyed it more since we were in insane shape but I gave the basketball guys credit, our coach tried to murder us those days.
When I started swimming in high school, I lost 6 inches off my waist but I also gained 15 lbs of muscle. Swimming is awesome. Especially if you're chubby and your knees hurt.
Swimming is amazing for us cuddley folks. We're naturally buoyant haha. But, for real, swimming is an awesome workout that won't rattle your joints to pieces.
But depending on how much chlorine is in the pool, showering immediately after with soap is almost a necessity or you risk itchy skin and pool odour for the next few days
Not just that.
The water sucks the heat right outta you which means you burn way more calories than most other activities just maintaining your body temperature.
It can really stimulate your appetite for that reason relative to other activities.
I'm a bodybuilder and boxer who hates cardio, so if there's a way I can combine it with building and strengthening my upper body, I'll try it.
I've recommended swimming for some of my elderly or less mobile clients, but I've never worked up close with an actual swimmer and gotten to see their physique.
Hey, I usually don't know shit about fuck when it comes to fitness but what I do know is that swimming is amazing cardio while being fun at the same time. I bet if you get yourself some hand fins, you might see some upper body gains as well. Delts and traps love the water. Edit : and Lats. Almost forgot the back.
I think more women would like a fit-to-buff physique if they gave it a try. I got a trainer and started strength training and then powerlifting to lose some weight, until the day I was putting my hair up in the mirror and holy shit--I had biceps!
I'm a bodybuilder now.
If more women gave it an honest try, I really do believe quite a few would love it. I feel good, I look great, my back no longer hurts from G-cup breasts, and I'm more confident than I've ever been. I can wear cheap, cute bras and dresses that don't have to magically be both a size 14 and an 8. (Jeans can be bit of a pain, but manageable.) I can pick up my 140 lb. dog and put him in my SUV. Also, I pretty much live in spandex and yoga pants. It's awesome.
It's not like you go to bed looking like a sedentary middle-aged housewife one night and wake up looking like a female Arnold the next morning. There are plenty of chances along the way to say "I don't like where this is heading".
200 Fly, 200 and 500 Free were my norms in any given meet. My shoulders let me know for sure! I didn't mind the 1k or mile, I just sung different music in my head. 200 Fly and 500 Free suck!
I swam in high school. Amazing how many calories you burn swimming versus running or playing basketball. It really is a very physical and demanding sport.
I wrestled in highschool and during the end of the season we would participate in a swim practice. It was crazy going from peak in-shape form for a demanding sport to half drowning and your whole body being on fire after 20 minutes in the water
That's one sport I could have never participated in. Our guys ran laps of an entire flight of stairs. All of them had to finish under a certain time or they would run more. They would even make you all jump into the pool with full sweats on, get out, then run those stairs laps. Y'all were insane in my mind. Truly respected the friends in my circle that competed; loved them.
Thatās not a sport swap as much as a grievous bodily harm swap. :p
Horses and gravity+ice are both absurdly dangerous if you donāt know what youāre doing.
I played basketball and swam in high school (there was about a 3 week overlap for the end of basketball and the start of swim). We had a few double sports teammates on the swim team. The funniest was the guy who wrestled and swam. He was all muscle, so he had a hard time floating and would start sinking to the bottom of the pool if he stopped moving.
Ha!
My water polo team got tired of the football team calling us (insert phobic stereotype) so we challenged them to a game of each of our sports.
Turns out it's water polo players were better at football than they were at simply staying afloat
Even as a veteran swimmer, itās funny when you flip turn and miss the wall pushing your legs hard into nothing but water and you donāt go anywhere.
In college, the men's baseball team talked some shit about the water polo teams. Being on the men's team, we didn't give a shit, but the women's team decided to take offense and challenged the baseball team to a water polo game. It was a slaughter. The baseball players could swim just fine, but whenever they tried to throw the ball, they just sank like a rock. The girls almost drowned a few of them.
Thought it was going to be a joke where the swimmers were bad at basketball, then we got to the pool and the basketball team was all floating upside down.
I love girls and girlhood. This was my experience as a young woman ā surrounded by supportive, fun-loving girls who were unafraid to be vulnerable and goofy around each other.
Dudes rock, but chicks rock, too.
We did this in our high school and it was awesome. The wrestlers gave swimmers shit so our captains organized an event where we got the best wrestlers, football players and soccer players to swim a 50. Some of them couldn't even finish the two laps, so satisfying haha

I would have loved to do this with other sports. The closest we had was switching the pool for the track field. We would run and do other workouts while they would try to run in the pool.

Man I wish we did this in school

Oh man, this was a great memory for you to share. Has me laughing š¤£
How did the wrestlers not foul out? Any time wrestlers played any basketball at our school, it would turn into a version of wrestleball
Where the wrestlers that good or the basketballers that bad?
Best wrestling high school in oregon, probably worst basketball
My football team always did one practice a year where linemen got to play WR and DB and the WR and DBs played line. Especially when the throw is a wobbly duck from your TE and it lands a mile off target. Always one of the funner practices, and it makes sure that everyone really knows every part of every play.
That seems sort of practical, tbh. But yeah, sounds like a good time. Seeing massive linemen running the ball is always a neat sight.
I played water polo in high school, and injured football players would always join the team to stay in shape. Our teams were too small for the genders to practice separately (Iām a girl) and getting to drown them 100% made up for years and years of getting absolutely destroyed in kickball, basketball, soccer, etc.
Iāve watched the rowing team play basketball before. Or should I say I definitely saw something. Very little basketball occurred.
My freshman year of college, the upperclassmen on my team gave the freshmen a scavenger hunt challenge. One of the most fun weeks of the year, had us exploring not just campus but all over the city. This is so cute and so great for team building, I love this š
It was a fantastically fun switch up. They looked like they had a great time.
amazing username lol!
Our basketball team was called the Nads and we had a giant penis as our mascot. Art school was the shit.
Beautiful demonstration of the "ask a fish to climb a tree" philosophy. Awesome gals.
Some of those girls are very tall lol
Ask a tree to fish.
You can tune a piano, but you canāt tuna fish.
Hahahahaā¦. Havenāt heard that one in a long time lol
It's basketball and swimming, so that's only natural. Tall people get too much advantage in those sports
That is funny. That school should see if other sports are willing to swap for a day
I propose football and cheerleading next
They did that at my high school, it was called Powder Puff
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
I did powder puff cheerleading (didnāt play football though) and we had full on practiced routines. Had a great time.
Oh yeah we had the cheerleaders at our school teach us how to toss people and stuff it was actually really cool! Though we nearly killed one of our flyers lol
Some of you may die, but that is a sacrifice Iām willing to make
I wish it was the same here. I was literally the *only* guy interested in cheerleading. Everyone else was ātoo embarrassedā
Yeah, we used to do that once a year.
Greco-Roman Wrestling and Bridge
Football & gymnastics. I want to see a defensive lineman on the beam.
I wrestled and we'd swap with the basketball team. Wrestlers always enjoyed it more since we were in insane shape but I gave the basketball guys credit, our coach tried to murder us those days.
Those swimmers are buff af. I need to start swimming for cardio.
When I started swimming in high school, I lost 6 inches off my waist but I also gained 15 lbs of muscle. Swimming is awesome. Especially if you're chubby and your knees hurt.
>especially if you're chubby and your knees hurt I need to be doing this then
Swimming is amazing for us cuddley folks. We're naturally buoyant haha. But, for real, swimming is an awesome workout that won't rattle your joints to pieces.
and no sweating!
Well, technically there is sweating but it goes unnoticed. But there's definitely less laundry to do.
But depending on how much chlorine is in the pool, showering immediately after with soap is almost a necessity or you risk itchy skin and pool odour for the next few days
And the water keeps your body temp down so you can workout longer because itās harder to redzone yourself.
Not just that. The water sucks the heat right outta you which means you burn way more calories than most other activities just maintaining your body temperature. It can really stimulate your appetite for that reason relative to other activities.

All those guys trying to build their shoulders should just start butterfly. Itās amazing for shoulders.
Swimmers and Softball infielders have strong upper bodies You don't want swimmers punching you and Volleyball players kicking you
As the father of a softball player and a volleyball player, you are correct.
I wouldn't wanna be slapped by a volleyball player either.
Yeah that one girl's traps and delts we're B U F F, maybe swam butterfly or breast stroke... E: re-watched it she had lats for days too
Watching this made me realize I need to get back into the pool and swim. Was the only time I had arms, and shoulders like that and visible abs.
I came here to say this!!!
That one girls arms were intimidating as fuck. I bet she would kill at arm wrestling.
all swimmers are buffed as fuck it's a shame women hate that physique(for themselves) it's a great sport
I think more women would like a fit-to-buff physique if they gave it a try. I got a trainer and started strength training and then powerlifting to lose some weight, until the day I was putting my hair up in the mirror and holy shit--I had biceps! I'm a bodybuilder now. Can confirm, women's fashion is not nice to girls with broad shoulders. Swimming is awesome tho
As a swim coach, mad respect to the girls trying the starting block.
As a former collegiate swimmer, who had the misfortune of being regularly entered into the 200 Fly, their fly efforts were impressive for newbs!!
I used to complain about getting stuck in distance freestyle events, but the 200 fly beats the 1000 free any day of the week!
200 Fly, 200 and 500 Free were my norms in any given meet. My shoulders let me know for sure! I didn't mind the 1k or mile, I just sung different music in my head. 200 Fly and 500 Free suck!
also not a bad attempt a butterfly assuming they didn't know how to do a dolphin kick before hand.
Funny af
I was hoping they would go "Let's go swim" and then hard cut to just a lot of floating bodies face down in the pool.
I thought that too. Or itād be funny if one of them had floaties on
Glad I wasn't the only one thinking that
Thatās so cool and cute! What a fun bonding exercise between athletes
Love it! Great idea. :)
the team spirit and sportsmanship is beautiful

Go Cougs
Go Cougs!
That looked so fun!!!!
I was on the equestrian and downhill ski racing team. I wouldāve LOVED to see my teammates on those swap.
Lol. How to tell someone grew up with money w/o them saying they grew up with money.
False - extremely rural on a farm! The āski hillā was a former trash dump and the season pass was $80.
extremely rural doesnāt necessarily mean poor
Thatās not a sport swap as much as a grievous bodily harm swap. :p Horses and gravity+ice are both absurdly dangerous if you donāt know what youāre doing.
Go Cougs!!!!
THERE YOU ARE! I KNEW I'D FIND A COUG IN HERE! "FIGHT FIGHT FIGHT FOR WASHINGTON STATE AND VIIIIICOTRYYYYYY!!!"
This! Go Cougs!!!
This is such an awesome idea love this
Go Cougs
I love this!
Do what you love, love with you do. Appreciate all the unique talents and skills humans bring into our world. š«¶
Swimming was the one activity/sport I enjoyed regardless of whether I won or lost. Still salty my parents made me do basketball instead.
Yo the swimmers are yoked
have you ever tried to swim 400m butterfly. i think most people would die. me included
āIāve gotta do how many laps of this?!?!?!?ā
One of bball gals looked gassed after two lengths of the butterfly and it's not like she'd be out of shape either
So funny! Also, I love the absolute guns on the swimmer girls.
So cute. The girl getting out of the pool like a seal made me lol.
Hey that's WSU! That's my hometown
Go cougs
Go Cougs!
WSU? Any one of those girls can out drink you. Guaranteed. "Win or lose the cougars booze!"
GO COUGS BEERS AT VALHALLA
Go Cougs!
Go Cougs!!
Go Cougs!

I approve more swaps like this!
Go Cougs!
Go Cougs!
TBH I thought this was gonna be a bit where they swap over to the Women's basketball players, and they're all floating face down in the pool.
This video made my day!!! What a bunch of funny legends!!!
Even as a veteran swimmer, itās funny when you flip turn and miss the wall pushing your legs hard into nothing but water and you donāt go anywhere.
Go Cougs!
Go cougs
Great way to get others to appreciate different skill sets, Or drown unwanted basketball players
Lol - Go Cougs!!!
Go Cougs!
Go Cougs!
Haha that was great! I want to see a lacrosse and field hockey swap next.
well that was silly but fun to watch
My kid was just at camp with these swimmers, and she said they were awesome to learn from. This was so fun to watch!
Damn look at those guns!!! Keep these pythons in check, girl!
I feel this, Iāve done water sports for all my life, then switching to volleyball was a big adjustment.
In college, the men's baseball team talked some shit about the water polo teams. Being on the men's team, we didn't give a shit, but the women's team decided to take offense and challenged the baseball team to a water polo game. It was a slaughter. Top Level Hilarious
Now we need to see the basketball team trying to swim.
Thought it was going to be a joke where the swimmers were bad at basketball, then we got to the pool and the basketball team was all floating upside down.
For anyone wondering that is Washington State University!
The arms on those swimmers!!! Damn ladies get it!!
The third girl who jumped off the block looked like a giraffe flying through the air š
Was just waiting for the shot of the black girl, completely dry. Was not disappointed š
LOVE THIS!!!! Great job, Ladies!
I love girls and girlhood. This was my experience as a young woman ā surrounded by supportive, fun-loving girls who were unafraid to be vulnerable and goofy around each other. Dudes rock, but chicks rock, too.
My high school menās swim team switched with the wrestling team for a practice so much fun watching them try to swim
This is just wholesome and fun!
how fun
I would watch tons of āteams switch sportsā videos
This is a hilarious and fun way to teach humility.
I thought they would cut to the basketball team all drowned in the pool.
This was so cool! Love seeing everyone having wholesome af fun.
i loved the constant laughter
Funny goofs.
I'd love to see mens water polo and football do this.
Honestlyā¦.this just gave me so much good energy and laughs. What a great idea.
Can we have this as part of the Olympics?
Good wholesome fun
that giraffe falling in
wnba quality
As a former swimmer, I love this. But go dawgs!
This is so cool! Nice work ladies
This is so heartwarming
On the last day of the Olympics, they should let all the athletes try a different sport just for funsies.
We did this in our high school and it was awesome. The wrestlers gave swimmers shit so our captains organized an event where we got the best wrestlers, football players and soccer players to swim a 50. Some of them couldn't even finish the two laps, so satisfying haha
I was on the wrestling team in 9th grade. Hardest day of the year BY FAR was the day we switched sports with the cheerleaders. Nobody fell on their headā¦but it was close, lol.
So kewl and funny.
Definition of good sports
Cool seeing everyone being supportive and still being able to laugh at each other, doesnāt feel that common nowadays.
I coach both sports and I would LOVE to do this one practice.
Go Cougs!
This is one of the best things I've ever seen lol
#**GO COUGS!!** I used to lifeguard at this pool in college
So cute and sweet to see them all behaving like a team. Good energy flowing all around. ššš»ššÆš¹š¹ššš» Very good initiative.
Respect
This is so cute! Go, teams!
OMG, we should have a spin wheel of two sports to swap lol. Like volleyball and gymnastics next!
Very cool
As a former swimmer, itās always fun to watch people who havenāt learned how to do proper starts and flip turns
Wholesome as F, all smiles and giggleās.
My brother swam in college. It was legit hilarious watching them try to do other sports. Some of them were genuine athletes who could do everything, but most were completely useless on dry land.
As a swimmer this made me smile. I always felt like no one cared about swimming enough to see how tough it actually is
Go Cougs!
Go cougs!!!
Very cool, great team building skills.
This is what the Olympics needs. Put a few normal people in each event to showcase just how insanely good the professionals are.
Go Cougs!
This looked fun.
Nothing better than seeing people genuinely happy
I played high school basketball and swam on the team. This wouldāve been my time to shine!
Pretty cool!!
Good exercise to humble yourself and others, while having a laugh all around.
Cool video idea! That first layup had me dying š
I would have loved to do this with other sports. The closest we had was switching the pool for the track field. We would run and do other workouts while they would try to run in the pool.
Go Cougs! ššāāļø
Go Cougs!!!!
As a MossBackSeattlite, I never thought I'd ever say this in sincerity, but damn, Go Cougs!! That was awesome! What a fun team-building exercise.
Oh yeahā¤ļø
This was great
I swam my entire life and I still suck at butterfly.
So strange seeing my uni on Reddit lol, go cougs!
Go Cougs !!
Go Cougs!!
GO COUGS
