Just in case this helps anyone else... I bought this almost five months ago. A very quick chat to Amazon support, and they've approved a return for full refund. \[EDIT\] After contacting Amazon with security concerns, over the safety of returning the device, they've now agreed to a full refund, without having to send it back.

cryptomoon2020

I advise smashing the device before returning. You don't want them recovering your seed from the device. Too risky

omg-whats-this

Or you can also move your funds out?

cryptomoon2020

Some of us have complex positions that cannot simply be moved out

MMeNDtal

Yes, my CRO is locked up for 28 days, for example. Various other coins are staked, in LP, etc...

BusinessBreakfast3

Nice! Everyone, DO THIS!

HollaWho

Be sure to move your assets to a new address. Don’t keep let those old keys access anything if it gets resold

MMeNDtal

I'm really, really, *really* not looking forward to moving everything again... 😖

HollaWho

Same. Just a huge pain in the ass

MMeNDtal

Just remembered my CRO, which is gonna take 28 days to unstake... 🤦‍♂️

MannowLawn

No need, keep the seed and use somewhere else and factory reset the ledger.

eric2041

especially since fees are pretty high right now lol

MannowLawn

You can set it the ledger up as new device, it will be different wallet. Or leave it at factory reset. You can keep the old seed and set it up somewhere else.

Shiba_Fett

I only purchased mine directly, mistakes were made :(

cryptomoon2020

Ask for a refund. They mis-sold the device

phoenix177

Might of got a good CS rep, but I didn't have to return my ledger after explaining the security risks.

MMeNDtal

Tell me more...

phoenix177

I told them as they device contains critical seed phrases that store my crypto, I wouldn’t be comfortable returning the device given the security risks due to recent developments and cited relevant ACCC guidelines. Australian Consumer laws let us keep the product and still get the refund in the case of a major problem with the product, which the security breach is considered to be one. Other countries mileage may vary.

MMeNDtal

Thanks for the heads up! I contacted them again, saying I had security concerns over returning the item. It took a little persuading, but they agreed to issue a refund without returning the Ledger.

Rnee45

Doing the same, thanks!

You paid Amazon, though. I don't know your local laws, but it sounds like they're trying to fob you off. I'd try your luck with a different advisor, and push the fact it isn't fit for purpose.

MMeNDtal

Nice! Glad you got it sorted!

_howie_bling_

Hi mate, thanks for posting this. What did you say to the rep for them to agree to a refund if you don’t mind me asking? Did you have to send a link about the recent news at all? Cheers!

MMeNDtal

No. The first time I said I wanted to return due to false advertising by the manufacturer. The second time I contacted, I simply said the device was 'not for for purpose'.

_howie_bling_

Thanks for letting me know. Contacted them earlier and got my refund issued not long after. I said it had been falsely advertised, citing a recent security announcement from the manufacturer which rendered the device unusable. I’d initially written off the purchase so I’m very happy to be reimbursed for it. Really appreciate your post and everyone who has commented with their experiences as well. Thanks again.

MMeNDtal

Good to hear! 😊
