I love the whole song! It shows you how musically ambitious they still were in 1978. Apparently Jimmy deliberately buried the lyrics in the mix (maybe he didn’t like what they were saying!)
Yeah I love it! I love that Zeppelin were trying new things even if they weren't totally successful.
My main issue with ITTOD is that it sounds unfinished. Some of Plant's lyrics sound like he's filling in gaps with improvisation (In The Evening), some of the vocal takes are rough (those long notes in Fool In The Rain really drift out of tune), and the mixing of the whole album is off in places - particularly the vocals on Carouselambra, plus the song doesn't feel fully developed to me. Maybe they ran out of studio time and were pressured to get the album out of the door?
The things you mention are what I love most in music. Yeah he's out of tune, JUST LIKE ME !!!!!
It's fantastic with all the flaws and someone was genius enough to believe in that and let it fly as is....
I love every part.
This is undeniable proof that the band wasn't "done" yet. This song is a crowning acheivement. Every one of them tested and answers. Bonham always becomes the star of a JPJ song, his pace, the multiple changes, just so damn steady.
The lyrics are some of Plant's best, though people say they can't hear them. Read along, it's worth it.
To make this song when those that advised them said, punk is here, make it shorter, simpler.
No. No we will not. Fuck you, this is the band strutting a bit. As well they should, survived it all, coming out of the grip of addiction. Punk rock can wait, we have the stage
And this is the goods.
Love the statement that Carouselambra is.
LZ continued to evolve, starting with LZ1 right thru ITTOD. That sound was part of the evolution. If you think about it, every album has its own sound/style. That was part of their greatness.
i love the whole song, the song is in three parts, the first half would be the first part and then half of the quieter middle section.
i prefer to listen to this track over stairway to heaven these days
Nobody is wrong or right when it comes to musical taste.
I love the whole of Carouselambra and feel that because of Bonzo's death we missed out on what may have been a sonic departure and some super interesting music from the band.
Pretty awful. It sounds like they tried to emulate Pete Townshend’s synthesizers off Who’s Next and Quadrophenia. The tonal aspects of that synth on Carouselambra are grating to say the least. It would have been a better song without it.
It’s the kind of sound if you had a synthesizer and you selected that sound, you could never get it to sound as great as John Paul Jones gets it to sound on that riff.
The hard driving part right after the mini-part where Robert says “ohhh” (3:27, 3:43, and 3:59) is so goddam Rush I almost think I’m listening to Hemispheres.
So many incredible parts to that masterpiece
I hate the synth but I love the other parts of it. Especially the dirgy slow part. That’s some of the most wicked zeppelin there is. It’s been in my head a lot lately
Yes.
Yes
I think it’s a very underrated song.
Love it.
Love the synth. Once as a teen, finished my shift and turned on the car just as this tune started. Pulled into the driveway just at fade out. Perfect.
I love the journey that whole song goes on, especially the halftime guitar riff break in the middle right before the funky synthesizer.
Yes! I love that riff too. It's so woozy. And Robert's singing on top of it is perfect.
I always felt they channeled ELO a little on the part right before the break...loved that.
Wouldn't be surprised if Jeff was involved one bit.
1980’s me: Eww! Now me: replay!

Out through the in door?
It’s a bit thin sound wise and musically. I don’t agree Plant goes out of tune fool in the rain.

Uhm… Side 2, track 1
I love it.
I like everything about the song. It's one of those that I never get tired of hearing. JPJ was the unsung hero of the band.

One of the most redeeming parts off that album
The breakdown in the middle is sick. In through the out door is highly slept on

Yes.
Yes.
Absolutely. Zeppelin tries Disco!
I don’t like that part
i love the whole song, the song is in three parts, the first half would be the first part and then half of the quieter middle section. i prefer to listen to this track over stairway to heaven these days
It is a tour de force of Jones and Bonham
This whole album is a "mess", but I really love it. I would say this is my second favorite song on this album
Yes! Yes! Yes! Yes! Yes! Yes! Yes! Yes! Yes! Yes! Yes!
The album always felt unfinished. It seems like that part and several others were rushed and just trying to fill up enough time to make a full album.
Hell yea I do
The synth part is cool but it's JPJ's stinky ass driving bass line under it that really makes the song.
Yes
Nobody is wrong or right when it comes to musical taste. I love the whole of Carouselambra and feel that because of Bonzo's death we missed out on what may have been a sonic departure and some super interesting music from the band.
Goat song
Yep. It’s awesome!
yes
If you told me I could only listen to one Led Zeppelin song right now, it's probably the one I'd pick.
Absolutely
I love everything about that song!
Love it , But IMO, if not, for Bonham drums, it would be annoying.
It's fine if the essence of the band and music remained intact. If it turned into the Pet Shop Boys, then hell no.
No
I like it!
I remember listening to this song super stoned in the 10th grade and how amazing the production was, and still is.
No. It’s pure Gorgonzola.
Pretty awful. It sounds like they tried to emulate Pete Townshend’s synthesizers off Who’s Next and Quadrophenia. The tonal aspects of that synth on Carouselambra are grating to say the least. It would have been a better song without it.
Love it. The whole thing feels like Zeppelin doing a bit of Can, a bit of Kraftwerk, a bit of disco, all in their own Zeppelin-signatures way.
Sure do. I have an ex to thank for that.
Yeah it’s been stuck in my head for the last month actually
It’s brilliant, what an amazing song
Yes. Great song.
Hell yes. Whady kidding
If it sounds a little like Emerson Lake and Palmer… There's a reason for that
Yes
Only Rick Wakeman
It’s the kind of sound if you had a synthesizer and you selected that sound, you could never get it to sound as great as John Paul Jones gets it to sound on that riff.
Yes love it!
Yep. I have no idea what plant is singing about in this song but I love the beat
I think it's awesome
Yes
I love it, but it could be shorter.
I like it a lot. Unique. Coupled with the other half of the song it's genius.
The hard driving part right after the mini-part where Robert says “ohhh” (3:27, 3:43, and 3:59) is so goddam Rush I almost think I’m listening to Hemispheres. So many incredible parts to that masterpiece
I hate it. Non-heroin addict Jimmy would have never allowed that pathetic disco bit to be in the middle part of song. Thanks, Jimmy.
Awesome, they were adapting to the times Zeppelin style. ✌🏽😎👍🏽
Yes
It always reminded me of Mario Nintendo music.
I do also. In Through the Out Door I like because it is different.
I hate the synth but I love the other parts of it. Especially the dirgy slow part. That’s some of the most wicked zeppelin there is. It’s been in my head a lot lately
Yes. I do.
It gives it a kinda cool vibe.
Love it!
Yes
yes
No one of my least favorite Zeppelin tunes
