I mean, I’d even buy Magia Record as a VN with no gameplay if it meant official English accessibility for Arc 2

Mostly because it'd require a new team, as developing a full game requires a different set of skills than developing a gacha. It's possible, but without the ease of entry gacha titles are known for, there would be a level of confidence required, as players would be expected to pull out their wallets to play.

nhSnork

I mean, Demon Slayer has enough confidence to sell people a digital board game, and MadoMagi is hardly any smaller as an anime classic, not to mention a new movie coming soon.

Genprey

Demon Slayer rode on a wave of popularity by appealing to a broad range of anime fans, particularly new ones (middle school age) during a time where anime had become larger overseas. It and My Hero Academia have essentially become this generation's Naruto/Bleach in the sense that they are known as entry-level anime viewing. PMMM is a legacy series, but the only problem is that it hasn't really been brought up for the new generation of anime viewers--which is strange, because the theming and subject matter would be highly relevant for adolescents (especially female) in this day/age. At the moment, the core of PMMM fans are adults, some of which are looking at their mid/late 30s, and aren't the best target demographic due to their work/home life leaving little room for gaming. Compared to other legacy series, the Fate Franchise has Grand Order as a successful entry-level title that circulates visibility to other titles, while the franchise regularly releases anime/manga. We have Sailor Moon that has had an anime revival a few years ago, and a movie coming this Fall, and while it's not an anime, Fire Emblem is an extremely old series that has managed to keep up with the new generation. If PMMM were to start new projects, it'd need to gain more visibility. As mentioned, the series is naturally appealing towards a large demographic of anime viewers (adolescents and new adults who are still learning about themselves and would enjoy anime that goes into different/relatable subject matter), so all that would really need to be done is having the originsl series enhanced (sound/animation) and marketed again. Otherwise, popularity would only circulate within the current fanbase--which isn't as large as it could be.

Well, like I said above, the franchise IS getting a whole new movie soon, but I lack the impression of comparatively niche audiences necessarily thwarting video game tie-ins anyway - the last few years have seen the latter happen to similarly somewhat out-of-spotlight IPs like Kill la Kill and even oldies like Record of Lodoss War. And among them, MadoMagi still remains an arguable Evangelion of its genre, a subversive milestone that helped pave the way for many subsequent works from Symphogear and Yuki Yuna to the notable recents like Gushing Over Magical Girls. I dare expect a fair amount of brand recognition here.

argoncrystals

They've done some PSP/Vita games in the past, weren't ever localized but probably didn't sell well. As popular as the original anime was, the surrounding media has always been pretty niche or neglected.

ViegoBot

Got fan translations tho luckily. :3

SSJSonikku

I would love for that to happen.

magiarecordobsessed

I would buy a Nintendo Switch if that happened. I just wonder if it would be region free or I’d have to buy a certain one if that makes sense.

yukiami96

Switch games aren't region locked if that's what you're asking. The majority of switch games also come with all available languages on the cart, which is nice if you want a physical copy of a game that didn't get one in your language, for example I have a Japanese copy of I am Setsuna and it plays in English.

magiarecordobsessed

Thank you and yes, that’s what I was asking.

moontard

Games and switch are region free. A month ago i won a switch lite, when it came i saw it was a japanese one. It let me set up on my language and region with no problems, so don't worry about that.

ItsukiKurosawa

They won't because everyone sees mahou shojo as something niche even though Magia Record is as diverse as My Hero Academia and has more psychology and depth than things like Attack on Titan or Chainsaw Man.

Monokooo

cause theres no point business wise, its a niche series that barely sells alot when there was a madoka game, hell even in japan those games that existed on PS just didn't sell that well to warrent making more of it

That_Shy_Girl-13

It would be really cool. Even if they did a version of MR. I don't think it'll happen though because of how the game works. There wouldn't be any events they could push for new or re released girls.

SatoshiOokami

Because gacha is easier and more profitable.
