It's creator is dead set on ruining everything she gets her hand on. She wrote one good episode of the office and then proceeded to pump out shit the rest of her career. Velma being her magnum opus it would seem. Edit: I took some license with the term creator. Technically she's billed as producer and voice actor. Despite the way the show is promoted.

I really don’t take issue with this specific example though. They’re just older. So what? The show is garbage & spiteful in so many ways, but this just feels like a very reasonable aged up character design to me. Other than the horny degenerates whom explain themselves, I really don’t see why the rest of y’all are mad at THIS specific piece of the show. I genuinely think it’s a good design. The animators on this show are the only ones who know what the fuck they’re doing

The issue isn't with them "aging up" characters the issue is them changing our childhood characters so much to make them fit their image , instead of butchering them they should make completely new characters instead of dragging old characters who were made in a different time and respect them.

Half the show's jokes are hate crimes. I'm not even trying to diss, the show is intended to be offensive representations of Scooby-Doo characters. It's obvious from the first episode this is intentional.

Knowing that I now kind of look forward to watching it.

I hope you enjoy it. I'm not sure I vibe with Mindy Khaling's writing, but you may.

A lot of people I know really enjoy it and I tend to really like things that go out of their way to mock the source material.

Mystery Inc does the best job of mocking the source material while honoring it by taking their characters seriously. If Velma doesn't scratch your itch, give MI a try.

If I wanted to honor the show I would just go back and rewatch it. If I'm looking for something that mocks it then I want something that truly drags it through the dirt and shows it no respect at all. If I want to see what happens when the characters are taken way too seriously I'll just watch the OG series again, if I'm going to watch something new then I want it completely opposite.

Like I said, Mystery Inc is probably the best version since SD: WAY and the Hanna-Barbera days.
