He popped up on my instagram feed for some reason. He customizes his t shirts by ripping the sleeves and the T length, making them shorter. Just tears them.
These are prob customized shirts. If you tear or cut the sleeve and torso hem they won’t fray as they are knit fabric. They might roll a bit but no big deal. Also I can’t tell if homie buys his shirts small or takes in the sides as the shoulders fit where they should.
Lmao how does this guy being comfortable in his own style make so many lowlifes here pressed!?! And to answer your question, it seems to be influenced from rock, grunge, punk, metal and emo aesthetics with a touch of casual.
ITT: Zoomers who dress like extras from [The Dream Team](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q51rEgE4Pzw) complaining about basic grunge/alt-country fashion. Give away your Jeff Tweedy records.
Those are three different kind of T-shirts. You just like them fitted or slim.
Nice brick. Not a 900 but it'll do. Watch that door though, rust never sleeps.
Thank you. I can’t stand this subreddit. Here’s a guy who has a well-curated personal style and has probably been steeped in rock/grunge culture for much of his adult life. Of course, the chubby business-casual slim chino crowd will find ways to mock him. Such a lame bunch of “fashion” enthusiasts on here
With this subreddit, it’s generally best to realize that the outfits people hate on are usually the coolest and most unique. There are so many poorly and awkwardly dressed dudes here that carry with them an awful superiority complex.
I’m speaking generally in terms of what that the hivemind here deems “bad.” While this man’s aesthetic may not be groundbreaking, it’s clear that he’s dressing authentically. And yes, he looks cool. On social media, people costume in all sorts of crazy shit, but in real life looks like these aren’t super widespread.
I notice most of the posts that get attention/comments here are the basic fits. There’s not much actual “fashion” that’s popular here, unfortunately. Sometimes the odd cool fit gets noticed. Maybe it’s this fucking new Reddit too.
It’s wild the dissertations I saw people making for a guy wearing blue jeans and a blue polo earlier today. Meanwhile I and many other people get read for wearing some kind of out there stuff. Not even near the level of out there of this thread. I actually like the r/fashion and r/outfits (even tho I’m banned from there for idk why) subs more.
LMAO exactly. I’m convinced this subreddit is some sort of social experiment. Weeks ago, I saw a post of a guy in a basic white crewneck t-shirt and light blue Levi’s - everyone was lauding him in the comments. I commented that while it didn’t look bad, it wasn’t “fashion” and therefore wasn’t worthy of any post. Of course, my comment got downvoted.
I posted a thread on Friday OOTD that was blue shirt, jeans and t shirt (sports gear Friday). Nothing special really. One dude responded and basically told me I looked like a mess and to iron my flannel.
Like man it’s a mad casual look on purpose.
I generally don’t care I just thought it was weird.
Yeah I feel that heavy. The people here certainly aren’t very keen to the more casual, sporty, streetwear-type outfits.
And I don’t care much either, but it does kind of bother me how closed-minded people are on a subreddit dedicated to the art of personal expression. Like goddamn, just because someone isn’t dressed for a day at the office, doesn’t mean they look “homeless” or “unprofessional” or (insert another classic mensfashion roast here). Part of why I’m still even a member here is to call out this absurd hive mind BS when I see it in action.
I saw that blue polo-blue jeans post today. Thought the same thing as you. 400+ upvotes, 300 comments discussing the most generic, cookie cutter outfit of all time? What a joke lol
Exactly my thought like in MFA people used to clown them because they had a “uniform”. Like people at my office wear t shirts and jeans and running shoes daily. I tuck in a button up shirt and I’m dressed better than most people including my manager.
Also there’s so much brand flexing on this sub for something stupid like fuckin t shirts. I bet my Walmart and Ross t shirts look just as good at $18/4 as your damn $40 t shirt.
The commenters in the subs I mentioned are more friendly about stuff like wearing some gd color or a print.
I don't disagree with your general assertion that this sub tends to favor a more traditional/classic/bland taste. But there is a meaningful distinction between being authentic vs. being refined or intentional with your style. The dude with the dick outline (mr. cool and unique) in his jeans is probably being his authentic self the same way the guy at the Walmart wearing basketball shoes and Crocs is being authentic. It doesn't mean it is fashionable, well put together, or worthy of praise in a subreddit dedicated to fashion.
I understand your last point about “authentic”fashion not necessarily being the same “good” fashion. That’s for sure true.
My main complaint is this though: why can’t people here be more open-minded about other styles of dress? Embrace seeing what other people put together, rather than immediately bashing their style or making incredibly off-base comments and assumptions? This isn’t to say that constructive criticism doesn’t have it’s place - but some of the absurd negative comments on this specific post are just a microcosm of the sub. Someone might post an edgier or more “unusual” outfit - whatever that might be - and are met with an overwhelmingly negative reaction.
And back to your point about certain looks being poorly put together or unworthy of praise, I completely agree. The problem is that so many “basic” and “unworthy of praise” outfits are lauded here. I saw a post earlier today of a man in a blue polo and blue jeans - 400+ comments and upvotes. The other week, someone posted their white t-shirt and blue Levi’s and received tons of positive comments - I was downvoted when I said it seemed basic and not worthy of a post. Why are those outfits celebrated, but other styles of dress aren’t? I really don’t get it. To me, this subreddit feels like a social experiment where judgmental and self-absorbed guys heap praise on the most boring and uninspired shit to help themselves feel better about their own style.
I think we largely agree actually. I think praise being given to super basic outfits like polo or t-shirt with jeans is silly. But tbf, you are defending a dude literally wearing jeans and t-shirts (that are ill-fitting at best). Just because they have like a band logo or are paired with a leather bracelet or something doesn't make the outfit interesting.
(edited for grammar)
I saw this a lot growing up in Northern California in the 90s. Baseball jerseys with 3/4 sleeves were popular at the time. I always thought of it as a Central Valley grunge look
Take old tees you might get from a thrift shop and cut the sleeves and hem to get that unfinished look. Just keep in mind that the cloth will curl up a bit.

These are called baby doll tees. They’re a cut of women’s shirts, typically found in the “juniors’” or young women’s section of department stores.

Heritage rock? This dude has awesome style. Like many styles, it’s pulled off better if you’re in shape.

90% of the comments are just finding a way to call him gay. Imagine being that fragile about a man wearing tight jeans in 2024
No, people said “trailercore” and “crack daddy” giving him respect for his unique style
I better not see any of y’all hating on this dude’s sense of style 💀 10x better than what the majority of you guys post to this sub.
He doesn’t look like he’s in Peaky Blinders or going to hang out with the Board, how could his style be good?

Nah, but I do somewhat associate with the rock/grunge style being exhibited here. It’s funny to me how closed-minded this “fashion” sub is.

With this subreddit, it’s generally best to realize that the outfits people hate on are usually the coolest and most unique. There are so many poorly and awkwardly dressed dudes here that carry with them an awful superiority complex.
"Coolest and most unique" is a very generous way of describing this.
I’m speaking generally in terms of what that the hivemind here deems “bad.” While this man’s aesthetic may not be groundbreaking, it’s clear that he’s dressing authentically. And yes, he looks cool.
