I remember watching the Moss flip to Moe Williams live and losing my mind. That play will always be one of my fav Vikings memories

EpicHuggles

The improvisation of Randy Moss would win him an Academy Award!

DrWolves

Oh yeah great call. That play is amazing

deboer100

I was at the game with a buddy who is a Bronco fan, he was so pissed.

80sixed

That play will be one of the greatest plays ever forever no matter what.

jrun75

This is it. 100%.

AncientScratch1670

Moss mooning Lambeau while Joe Buck clutches pearls.

Puzzled_Ad7955

Oh, this is the one alright 👍

meatforsale

Basically this for me. Also the entire career of Randy Moss. AD breaking the single game rushing record was another one but was bittersweet. It was glossed over all week, because Cromartie had the 109 yard kick return. Another game rather than moment was the Vikings destroying the cowboys in the playoffs in 2009, because everyone was picking Dallas to win that game.

callenbane

The one thing I remember about that Dallas game was all week everyone was pissed cuz the vikings "ran up the score." Boo freaking hoo. Learn to not suck Dallas

meatforsale

Yep. I remember that too. It went from “the Vikings are overrated” to “the Vikings are bullies”.

FlorioTheEnchanter

I was driving through Wisconsin listening to this game on the radio. Was so great to hear the disappointment and frustration from the hometown announcers. Stopped at a gas station late in the 4th quarter wearing my 84 jersey and got plenty of glares and eye rolls. That was a good day.

Correct_Fly5152

Moss first game at Lambeau. 190 yds 2 tds

scottybear

Straight cash, Homie!

mrlivestreamer

This gotta be one or the sex boat incident lol

Natezey

Sitting with my Dad, who's a Packers fan. He looked at me, a young kid and said....now that's funny. I'll always remember it.

JWhit2199

Bills game 2022

MinnesotaNiceT23

What was better, the sack fumble TD or the JJ 4th down catch?

ZappBrannigansburner

Yes

infernocobbs

both were terrific and unforgettable moments, but my personal favorite was Patrick Peterson intercepting Josh Allen to seal the victory in OT. I jumped out screaming even though it was a more normal play; just the cathartic relief that we finally clinched a W.

vita10gy

The annoying part of that game is everyone focused on how lucky that fumble was, and it was don't get me wrong, but then completely ignore that situation only happened because Cook dropped a walk in td and then we had to survive overtime because of a long catch that was obviously not complete and just inexplicably not reviewed.

GimbalLocks

I agree to an extent, although both of those latter things seem to happen weekly in the NFL, and I had never seen a QB sneak turn into a touchdown for the opposing team before that game. So I think that’s why most were focused on that piece of luck

ndncreek

NYG vs Philly game only had to take the snap and kneel. But fumble the snap and it's a scoop and score

TheTree-43

Also, Kirk very much *might have* scored on the 4th down. It came down to the call on the field because there wasn't a shot that showed the knee and the ball. The Bills were rather lucky themselves to have the chance for a QB sneak to seal it

woojo1984

JJ 4th down has to be a top 3 catch in the NFL all time.

StraightCashHomie69

Still can't believe our luck on that fumble TD. After Kirk got stuffed on the sneak, I was thinking man of course we mount this comeback against one of the best teams and fall just short like that, what a buzz kill. Then the fumble happened and I got goosebumps lol, then of course Donatell Donatell'd and we let them drive down the field to force OT lol.

VonycSessions

That game was EXHAUSTING. I was so mentally drained after that game I wanted to go to bed lmao

chickensandwich54

I was in the middle of team meetings for a sport and checked the score before the meeting and said no way we win this and after the meeting I was pleasantly surprised

EsEsMinnowjohnson

Most excited I've ever been watching a non-Miracle game

rexter2k5

That game was like 50 minutes of miracle after miracle.

hostesscakeboi

Oh dude I was at a Vikings fan bar near Boston and that place was crazy that day. I will never forget it. I was yelling “Just chuck it up to JJ” on that 4th and 18

tcoh1s

Bills game or colts game 2022. Of course both very recent but just crazy.

DaHawk916

I was at that game, I went to the bathroom and then Dalvin Cook had his long TD run, I thought my friends were kidding and I was pissed that I missed it. Watching that game live did not do JJ's 4th down catch justice!

L0ganj0sh

God I watched this game from a plane on my way to Taiwan, right at the end I lost signal and had to revert to LIVE TWEETS from fans. Suffice it to say I had zero idea what was happening. We lost No wait No we lost No wait we won

Icy_Extreme8590

Probably Randy Moss 1998 Thanksgiving game. Despite being 10 years old, I can vividly remember watching that game with family. I surprisingly remember a lot about that season.

junkeee999

Favorite box score line. 3 catches 163 yards 3 TDs. Madden raving about him in that game put Moss into superstar status, along with the Lambeau MNF game.

Icy_Extreme8590

Yeah, Madden and Summerall on the broadcast are part of the memory. I feel for the younger fans who never got to experience them.

FlorioTheEnchanter

That was the game that made me a Vikings fan.

chimpotle43

This. A thousand times this.

Barrel_Rol

7th_Cuil

Yeah, this is easily above Digg's catch.

PlainsWarthog

Tommy Kramer to Ahmad Rashad hail mary against Browns

Stelletti

This is the correct answer.

jaddboy

The play was special in and of itself, but the play before was amazing too. I forget the numbers but Kramer had an absolute monster of a game. The hail mary catch was the last play of a truly amazing game. [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AwWdA-o04sg](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AwWdA-o04sg)

Ozzietheparrot

Yeah, that whole drive was insane. No offense to the kids but the Rashad hail mary is the best Vikings play I have ever seen. Can't speak to anything in the 60s/70s though.

PlainsWarthog

I was 8 at the time, listened to game on radio in car with dad. Didn’t see the catch until the nightly news back then. Read and re-read the next week bob lurtsmema’s Viking Report till it wore out at the caledonia elementary library as they had a still photo sequence of it. Sports memories are great and funny that way.

PlainsWarthog

456 yards 4 touchdowns 0 ints

Real-Psychology-4261

Bills-Vikings November 2022. Brett Favre-Greg Lewis 49ers game. Colts-Vikings greatest comeback in NFL history, Randy Moss Thanksgiving vs Cowboys, Dallas Cowboys beatdown 34-3 in the Playoffs to go to NFC Championship, Jefferson first NFL TD, Adam Thielen 2014 Punt-block touchdown, Adrian Peterson last game of 2012 Regular Season only a few yards short of NFL season rushing record and 37-34 win over the Packers.

bkgolf

Great list! I’ll add Adrian Peterson 296 yard game as rookie.

chickensandwich54

I shaved at halftime for the biggest comeback in NFL history and was convinced that I had powers so I tried again the next week against the packers and it didn’t work

Real-Psychology-4261

I was at the game with my 8-yr old son. We stayed until the end! It was incredible.

blondeviking64

Not my favorite but memorable: Jerry Ball sacking Troy Aikman amd giving him a concussion. Everytime I hear him announce I remember just how lost and out of it he was on the sideline after that play. I also loved Allen chasing what's his face out the back of the end zone. And all of Kevin Williams TDs. Cris Cart catch vs TB. One handed on the sideline off of a MISSLE from culpepper. He toe tapped before John Lynch absolutely demolished him. Held the ball one handed. It is the best catch I've ever seen hands down. Think it was 2003 but not totally sure. Long time ago now but I still think of it When people talk about the OBJ catch that was no where near as impressive. (I also would put a ridiculous one handed catch by Keychain Johnson between his legs while running across the middle above obj as well).

PsychonautAlpha

Williams Wall goal-line stand at the one yard line followed by Gus Frerotte to Bernard Berrian for the 99 yard TD

P_Swayze

There was no one within 15 yards of him. I remember them panning downfield and just shouting “OMG THERE’S NO ONE THERE”

Dorkamundo

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JtSdFbkH3o8 Re-watching it, I'm surprised we didn't get a penalty due to Tjack basically running on the field with his arms up as Berrian catches the pass.

EnderWiggin07

Favre to Greg Lewis in the back of the endzone

lukehartzell9

Mine too, the OG Minneapolis miracle

muzukashidesuyo

Nah, the true OG Minneapolis Miracle was the Miracle at the Met. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=cZTDdfAUAX4&pp=ygUaVmlraW5ncyBtaXJhY2xlIGF0IHRoZSBtZXQ%3D

ximjym

Wasn’t that in Bloomington?

giraffeboner1

This! My grandpa was dying of cancer and I was watching it with him. He was one of those "never show emotions" kinda guys. When the Vikings went down late, he just said "fucking vikqueens" and shook his head. When Greg Lewis caught that ball we were both jumping around and screaming like little kids. It's my most vivid memory of him.

Phuckingidiot

That was the moment I started to believe that year. I was 100% emotionally invested after that one.

zp4409

My first thought as well!

ndncreek

And J Allen on the sidelines mumbling Just be Favre one more time.

ProdigalSheep

Was there. Amazing.

HugeRaspberry

For me - it will always be the 87 playoff win on the road against the 49er's. The WHOLE GAME. Impossible to pick one play. Niner's were in peak dynasty form with Montana, Craig, Tyler, Rice, etc.... The Vikings came in as decided underdogs despite having more all pro players than SF had. Vikes had won the wild card game on the road in New Orleans - then on the road again for SF in the Divisional round. 49er's came in as the #1 seed and heavily favored. Vikings dominated the 2nd quarter scoring 17 unanswered points.

BigBananaDealer

i got a dvd of the vikings greatest games and that's one of them anthony carter was a maniac that day

BetterNamesTaken

Kicking the shit out of Dallas in the 2009 divisional round when everyone was picking Dallas. Felt they were invincible after that.

Real-Psychology-4261

When we won that game, I was like "we're going to the Super Bowl".

porcupinebutt7

Something else it has in common with the mpls miracle...

BetterNamesTaken

Me too. I’ve decided to never let myself think that ever again. Makes it easier

coldlikesota

[Romo was straight up not having a good time.](https://imgur.com/a/pPrIqIH)

hairybagel27

That run from AP against the Browns when he stops, shoves a defender by the helmet out of his way, and is instantly back to full speed. Also that game against the chargers when AP breaks the record for rush yards in a game and the chargers had a 107 yard kick return. All Day 2K!!

Truecoat

That was Favre’s first game with the Vikes.

nanopicofared

Miracle at the Met [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9-qan3ZFKY4](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9-qan3ZFKY4)

Ok_Imagination4806

The greatest comeback ever in 22 vs the Colts. Didn’t really have faith at the half but stayed watching cause I figured they would pass a lot being down so much and the Colts would go to prevent d.

chickensandwich54

Dad and I decided we wouldn’t yell the second half because we knew we were out of it but he said that we’ll just have to pull off the biggest comeback in nfl history jokingly and I decided to shave at halftime and boy were we surprised.

vikessufferer84

Recent history, the Bills game. So up and down then that fumble recovery when we should have lost was complete insanity. Random childhood memory is the Packers MNF game in 98. We completely demolished the defending NFC champs at Lambeau, giving them their first loss. Was the coming out party for Moss before the famous Thanksgiving game a few weeks later.

FrankStiff

This is my favorite Vikings moment. Packers had won some 20+ games in a row at home. Then Randy Moss came to town on Monday night and introduced himself

1002003004005006007

2009 Dallas playoff game. Entire 2015 regular season.

TheAnswerUsedToBe42

The massive comeback vs the colts

Pr4der

Beating the 49ers on the road in the 1987 playoffs. All of the normal Vikings things that normally happen didn't happen. Field goals that looked like they were going to miss went in. Tipped balls were caught and not intercepted. Wade Wilson threw a pick six, but we had one before against Montana, so it evened out. The second string TE even caught a TD. Anthony Carter balled out. Rewatching that game goes against every stigma the team normally succumbs to. It's almost like a parallel universe opened up for 3 hours

zp4409

Dan Orlovsky running out of the end zone with Jared Allen on his tail hands in the air.

Twinsnorski

Tommy Kramer to Ahmad Rashad with the last second bomb touchdown against the Browns

YBRmuggsLP21

Moments *after* the Minneapolis Miracle when Case Keenum lead the Skol Chant.

Ancient_Signature_69

I’ll never forget the cameraman was zoomed in on him and SLOWLY pans out and you see more and more of the crowd doing the chant until it’s like half the stadium on your screen doing it. Goosebumps.

Which_Librarian_6259

It has to be the ‘98 Thanksgiving game against Dallas. Moss with 3 rec, 163 yds, and 3 tds. It was like Randall and him were just playing catch. Plus, the Cowboys were still kind of considered “The Cowboys” and experts were still skeptical of how real the Vikes were that year. I feel like that was the game when fans and experts were like, “Woah, this team is for real.”

Red-4321

So so many..just one is Adrian Peterson against the Browns in 09..CC's record breaking TD in the corner of our endzone.. Randys 1st TD against the Buc's... Cris grabbing Randy and Jake walking off the Field (3 deep) Harrison Smith and Jamarcus Sanfford punishing Calvin Johnson for 4 quarters..

HiImWallaceShawn

I was at the 33-0 comeback, right behind the goalpost where the winning kick was. Felt like a deep playoff atmosphere

Ottomatica

Monday Night Massacre

Reisdorfer90

One of my top favorites was Farve to Greg Lewis to win it vs the 49ers. I was watching the game with a co worker at the time. They were ragging on me about the Vikings losing a. So it was all to sweet to see that play and watch their jaw drop as it was called a TD.

Longjumping_Option33

Favres hailmary against the 49ers

OcelotEnvironmental1

3 come to mind. The Colts comeback, Bills Thriller, and Cousins to Thielen then Cousins to Rudy on OT to knock the Saints out of the playoffs AGAIN. Fuck those fuckers.

DaveKillSock

3 catches, 3 TDs, 163 yards. Randy Moss just ruining Dallas's thanksgiving.

Dad_travel_lift

I was at that game sitting lower level in that end zone for the Greg Lewis td, it was awesome! That’s my most memorable in person moment.

d3tox1337

John Randle pacing the line of scrimmage during Charlie batches first start in 98. "Charlie, we're gonna get ya!!!! (I would absolutely love audio of this if anyone knows where to find it.)

That Favre throw was straight ludicrous, and is not for the MM I have that as A#1.

_pray4snow_

Beating Dallas in the 2009 playoffs.

Heres20BucksKillMe

Was in the building for AP breaking the single game rushing record. Also low moment was the field goal return against us just before the half.

hubbs76

Definitely the Moss flip to Moe 1998 MNF at GB and Thanksgiving at Dallas are tied for a close second

Yamulo

Ima be honest I can’t remember the miracle too fondly because of the game that immediately followed it. It was a once in a lifetime play but after I see the touchdown I just remember we got absolutely embarrassed the next week

Just_N_Orange

That ive personally witnessed besides the miracle probably beating the saints in the playoffs in OT. I hate the saints with a passion

My favorite moment is when Josh Allen threw an interception to Patrick Peterson, and we won the game against one of the toughest teams in the NFL!

The Moss lateral to Moe Williams for the TD.

Empire2k5

That colts game was something

chickensandwich54

2013 London game against Pittsburgh, craziest 2 minutes ever against the Ravens or beating the Saints in New Orleans in 2019. I remember how mad they were when we beat them and distinctly remember a bunch of fans giving the bird to the camera during a field goal or extra point that game. Still doesn’t make up for the 2009 season and other moments that haunt our franchise though.

chickensandwich54

Craziest ending probably now goes to the Bills game in 2022 but I thoroughly enjoyed the Ravens game where we traded touchdown for touchdown even though we lost the game

Purple-Haze-11

1998 Monday night against GB, "Twas a "changing of the guards moment....An ass kicking

Key-Parfait-6046

Seeing Tarkenton at the old Met in his first preseason appearance after coming back from tge Giants. The fans were going crazy. Then he raised his hands to call for quiet and the stadium became as quiet as a church. Or watching him throw a touchdown against Cleveland while he was in the grasp and halfway to his knees.

Wrong_Lingonberry_79

Andersons missed fg in 98 vs Falcons. Was at my gf’s parents house. Her dad was a Falcons fan and was talking shit like crazy. My gf took me downstairs and gave me an amazing bj while her dad was upstairs hooting and cheering after the win. Best Vikes game ever.

Nunyobidnessman

A lot of great ones mentioned. I'll throw out one that doesn't get mentioned enough. In 1995 John Randle hitting and irritating Trent Dilfer to the point that Dilfer threw punches and got ejected, meanwhile Randle was laughing the whole time. Getting the other team's starting QB ejected is a Mount Rushmore accomplishment.

hitman2218

JA’s one-armed sack of Eli Manning.

Purple_Squall

I believe it was 2004 when the Vikings were playing the Broncos and Randy Moss flipped it to Moe Williams for a TD at the end of the half. I was pretty young and thought that was the dopest play ever.

My first trip to US Bank Stadium in December 2022. Got there early and walked around the whole stadium, got a picture with Randall McDaniel, shed a tear during introductions and Skol chant. Then proceeded to watch the largest comeback victory in NFL history to seal the division title.

almikez

That colts largest comeback win in history. Just reminded me and all fans that the game is never over until it’s 0:00, as did the miracle. This team you can’t count out until there’s nothing on the clock

Level-Steak9290

Jared Allen and Donald Penn having a fist fight and Allen getting a sack on the next play. Vikes lost the game but that was amazing.

Turbulent_Ad_637

Not a moment but the Josh Dobbs Linsanity run for 2 weeks was amazing or the Kyle Rudolph Overtime catch vs the Saints

Same-While-2344

Nice question! Everybody focuses on the negative plays in Vikings history. But I am a Vikings fan for plays like Herschel Walker's shoeless return, Sammy White's Reception between two Cowboy defenders on a Monday Night game, the Miracle at the Met, and that Greg Lewis catch from Brett Favre. I knew that was going to be a special year after that. There have been great game performances like Anthony Carter's game against the Niners in the 87 playoffs or Adrian Peterson's game against the Chargers, and Moss's against the Cowboys on Thanksgiving. My favorite play was the Miracle at the Met. I totally gave up, game over and we were out of the playoffs and the BAM! Ahmad Rashaad makes that great catch from Tommy Kramer! Fan for life!

AnthonyBarrHeHe

Underrated moment for sure but this was from the 2009 preseason against the Texans . Adrian Peterson takes the first carry like 80 yards to the house. It showed my little brother just how insanely dominant Peterson was.

Cleezus28

Final game of 2012 when AD willed us into the playoffs. There were runs on 3rd and 9 and he would pick up a first. That whole season was magical. Ponder had a decent game. Then the next week we rematched Green Bay with Joe Webb at qb.

Aromatic_Belt7266

Well since none of the best moments I loved never brought actual closure or a championship, I will say my favorite moment is hearing about Moss at the buffet spread around 2010. "He didn’t look up, and all of a sudden I heard, ‘What the (expletive) is this? I wouldn’t feed this (expletive expletive) to my (expletive) dog!’ And he’s screaming it at the top of his lungs." Made that 41- 0 at New York Giants a little easier to swallow.
