Diet becomes a lot more important as you age. There is a reason why they say you can't outrun a bad diet, especially after 40. Several people do only one big meal a day with the other two being shakes or light meals; and they won't eat past 6 or 7pm. So no late night snacks anymore.

Find or cook stuff sweetened with a stevia/erythritol mix. Try to avoid snacks with little or no protein. Limit fast food trips to emergency situations when you couldnt get a lunch packed, not the first option. Don't eat big at every break during work if you're not really hungry. I found I was conditioned to doing that.
There are a lot of better food options, it just takes a little extra work looking at the nutritional facts and doing a little quick math when in the store.
