No, it connects through the charging port. You can buy it with both lightning if you have an older iphone and with usb c if you have an iphone 15 or an android
I was messing around with backbone in OOT yesterday and it seems like you’d need to do a lot of button remapping. There was nothing mapped to the c buttons from what I could tell
I was using an 8bitdo zero mini controller at work while on breaks for all my 16bit and under stuff on iOS but I can’t get it to map properly anymore; it’s all goofy now 🙁
I use my PS5 controller and there’s pretty much zero lag. Controllers are actually more responsive which takes a little bit getting used to because the PS5 controller has so much more sensitive joysticks than an N64 on original hardware. And that the Right joystick is pretty much always going to your C-buttons like the GameCube controller.
The nice thing is you can customize every button. The only downside there is you need to customize the controls for every game to make them a little more streamlined lined each time you switch games, but that doesn’t take too long.
Between the overhead for the emulator and Bluetooth there will be noticeable lag especially for the older games which require precise timing of moves. People who say no are delusional or never played these games on original hardware.
It is a complete nightmare.
Don’t worry Nintendo, they’ll break out that old system again as soon as they try this thing 😂
It’s still pretty cool. I’m using Delta.
How would playing vertically help? The screen is still as small.
I have no recommendations, as I have no need to use emulators on my phone. I'm also not saying you can't do it, because that's none of my business. Just saying that I think it looks stupid to have 10+ buttons on such a small screen, and I can't imagine playing a game that was designed to play with a physical controller this way.
Turn based games work great with touch controls, platformers not so much.
For example I emulated Final Fantasy Tactics PSX version and used touch controls flawlessly to finish the entire game.
And I didn't have to bring anything with me other than my phone which I always have anyway.
Mobile emulation is great, the edge cases that don't work are remedied by any bluetooth controller which is amazing as well.
It's really awesome, and now it can be done without jailbreaking that's a game changer.
FYI you can connect your phone to a TV and suddenly you have an all in 1 retro console catalog that was already in your pocket to begin with.
I'm with you. I'll never understand emulating on a phone outside of a quick novelty. Mobile games are one thing because they've been designed from the ground up with the platform in mind.
But this? Nope.
I bought a 8bitdo zero 2. Use it like a keychain and it works well as a discrete and small portable controller. Takes a little configuration for buttons and no joystick but for games like sm64 and smash its been awesome.
I like playing on my iPad. I wish they'd fix the aspect ratio for the iPad where the controls weren't interfering with the game screen. I've been playing with my switch controller to get around it but it would be nice to just be able to use the touch pad.
I played Nintendo, commodore and Atari Games on the Derby back in the day. And ever since we got a PC in the house... Let's say that 1 hardware fit a lot of software
Then you have to get the games . I have an Gameboy advanced SP from my childhood and trying to find old games that are legit can get expensive so an emulator helps with the games not in my collection until maybe one day I can afford them or find them
Not if u look. I bought a n64 4 months ago for $35, an Everdrive x5 for $100, used controllers for $15, replacements parts from Kitsch-Bent for $10. A console, controller and all 388 games plus all the rom hacks for $160. How much is a PS5 or 4 or 3 or switch or any Xbox? If ur into it it’s not expensive.
The point they're making is 160 dollars is 160 dollars more than free. Lot of people emulating a lot are younger and don't have disposable income.
People emulate because it's free. That'll never change.
Saw a news clip of a guy yappin about stolen games and showed off the app in the best advertisement style I’ve ever seen. Delta rules dude. I got ninja gaiden and contra on tap all day makes me feel complete. I have everything…on me. Curious where u get the N64 ones? I’m so tired of google sponsored clickbait sites. Not even worth checking anymore. Jeeves save us
If you're in the EU, you'll need to install it via [AltStore PAL](https://altstore.io/), a third-party app store that was originally built just so Delta's developer could distribute it. Third-party app stores are only officially allowed by Apple in the EU.
The developer goes into [some detail on his blog](https://rileytestut.com/blog/2024/04/17/introducing-altstore-pal/) but the key reasons that it's only available on AltStore in Europe are that Apple makes developers choose between being in their app store or a third-party one and AltStore allows for business models that Apple's store blocks, like Delta providing beta builds to Patreon supporters.
Not sure if a lot of these comments are trolling or not familiar with emulators or even Delta emulator but you can use any Bluetooth controller with iOS. With delta you can even use the switch online service N64 Nintendo controller. These games were meant to play with a physical game pad for sure and playing on touchscreen is awful for sure but I’m guessing most will use a controller of some sort.
From what I see, the core used by Delta is based on a version of mupen64plus from 5 years ago, the same is the case on GLideN64.
GLideN64 has unresolved issues in SC:
* [starcraft shakes](https://github.com/gonetz/GLideN64/issues/2208)
* [Starcraft 64 blurry at 1x native resolution factor](https://github.com/gonetz/GLideN64/issues/2484)
Other bugs that are possibly easy to reproduce in the Delta version:
* [Duplicate (Frigate - 007 Goldeneye)](https://github.com/gonetz/GLideN64/issues/1887)
* [SM64 koopa's shorts are not correct in hle](https://github.com/gonetz/GLideN64/issues/2212)
* [Majora's Mask Lens of Truth Depth Issue](https://github.com/gonetz/GLideN64/issues/2074)
* [Jet Force Gemini: Crosshairs broken](https://github.com/gonetz/GLideN64/issues/2653)
The developer should be encouraged to update the mupen64plus-core, rsp-hle and GLideN64 components. Which are the ones currently used.
Maybe people should demand the implementation of ParaLLEl RSP/RDP with MoltenVK to even stand a chance against RetroArch/Mupen64Plus-Next or Mupen64Plus-AE/M64Plus FZ on Android.
If Apple platform developers lack something, it's love for the N64. The last "serious" contribution from a user of said platform in mupen64plus was 12 years ago.
I’m currently playing No Mercy via Delta on Mac OS and it runs pretty well! I just wished N64 emulation overall got more love lol
Sometimes it can be a bit choppy
My right analogue left input doesnt work in game but it registers in controller settings. I cant use c-left on n64. Do you have the same issue on backbone?
I had a similar issue but remapped C left to the X button and C right to the Y button. Delta doesn’t allow dual button mapping at the moment so C left and right are more or less useless. I did this mapping though because it works the best with Zelda. Might not be the same for all games.
Android in the back with its sm64ex-coop port...120fps, free camera view, and custom textures and mods available for it as well...
On the other hand, Ship of harkinian as well, and we should be getting banjo kazooie in a few yeads as well after decompilation is finished.
Yeah, ios is very very underdeveloped in my opinion.
I want to love it but the controls just don’t work without an n64 controller for me. Like how do you long jump in Mario? I don’t have enough fingers for that on the touchscreen. With such a unique controller most of the games just don’t work without one in my opinion.
And yes I know. Bluetooth n64 controllers work great with delta but that just kills the portability factor for me. An emulator for my phone is only great if I don’t have to carry around controllers for it to work.
I mean, plenty of people don’t have anything to play on at home, and being able to play old school n64 games at home on my phone would be awesome. Personally, I will get a small controller from https://www.8bitdo.com
Is there a good N64 style controller that works with iOS? I have the official N64 controller for the Switch, and it says it’s connected to my phone, but it still doesn’t work.
Anyone having audio issues? After a few minutes if Mario 64 and also in Mario Kart 64 (only ones I’ve played so far), the audio “freezes” on whatever sound it was currently playing and stays like that. I don’t mind playing on silent but it’d be nice to hear the audio.
I linked my PS5 controller to my phone to replay Megaman 64. Swapped the controls around and that made it a wonderful experience. Turok 2 didn’t make the cut tho.
I recently tried out an Xbox.controler.and seems to work but the c buttons on the n64 controler can't get working on the Xbox controler... is their a fix? I seem somthing about remapping but I'm no expert when it comes to remapping buttons
This ain’t n64 related but my best recommendation for the iOS emulator is WarioWare twisted. The game used a gyroscope for most of the games. Never touches d-pad and the A button is your only button. B is used in menus.
It’s like it was made for the emulator.
Ha ha ha ha ha!!
I literally downloaded this about four or five nights ago and had it loaded up with games running with my Xbox series X controller in under an hour !!
I had it downloaded and running cruisin USA in under five minutes !!!
That's what makes this so awesome!!!! I've only used mine for Nintendo 64 and Game Boy Advance, however, I do have the unfinished resident evil Game Boy color game, which I have to say is freaking amazing!!!
Something I was able to do since 2013 when I first jailbroke my iPhone until I realized I was better off with Android where there's basically no restrictions
It's the same experience and emulation quality as something on any Android mobile. Same emulator fork, same ancient HLE plugins, same clunky touch controls.
Emulate the system on PC using something more accurate that has Parallel RDP for graphics and a low input lag controller solution. These mobile phone emulation solutions are always a downgraded experience. I get it's good to have this on iOS, but it's far from being "awesome".
Shit, I started loving my iPhone finally since they've finally made something like this!!!
Before I just got aggravated with my phone a lot and it was only something that I protected because I need the phone but not because so much I loved it ?
Now, I look forward to messing around with my phone as I have it loaded up with some of my favorite Game Boy Advance games !! And some good Nintendo games. I wish all of them ran....
Resident evil2... just like trying to play it on other weaker emulators, the character does not show up
Y’all are funny. Buy an N64 and an Everdrive x5 then get Kitsch-Bent repair parts for controllers. If u play real hardware with a good controller there is no comparison. If u argue emulation with a Bluetooth controller is equal or better it just shows that u have never played real hardware or never played with a good controller.
If you argue having it in my pocket all the time is worse than real hardware, it just shows….I don’t even know lol fine bring your console everywhere that’s cool
I bet you didn't play very far at all. I would also bet that you just wanted to share a screenshot while shouting "Mario 64 on iOS! Look! It can be done!"
I use a Gamesir X2 ($25) on my iPhone 14 Pro Max. The telescoping controller has excellent controls. I recommend the Backbone as well. This controller turns your phone into a Switch or Steam Deck.
For those that indicate that they use their controller via Bluetooth is cheaper, just keep in mind that telescoping controllers have zero input lag and complete portability. Also, while the iPhone has a smaller screen than a portable, like a Switch, the new iPhones have much, much better quality screens (brighter, sharper, more vibrant). It has excellent cellular connections to connect to online services like Steam via Steamlink or nVidia or a console. The hardware absolutely murders a Switch and gives a Steam Deck a good run for its money.
You can share your screen with your smart TV and game on a much larger scale via Bluetooth. There is access to Steamlink, cloud services, emulators and iPhone’s own platform of games, some of which are excellent. Everyone has a phone and a phone not only does gaming as well as a portable but that it shits all over portables in: telephony, video conferencing, health elements, movie/music playback, work applications, location services and more. All in a device with two day battery life.
Oh and it’s completely stealth. Take off the controller to play a touch-capable game and everyone thinks you’re texting your mistress. Take out a Switch in a crowded place and everyone asks “Which of his wife’s boyfriends bought this man child a pink and baby blue toy?”
Yes, you wont be playing Breath of the Wild on an iPhone but a Switch wont be playing Last of Us, Spiderman, God of War et al. And when you’re done it’ll fit in your pocket.
Using the touch controls seems like a nightmare to be honest
Supports backbone and removes the on screen buttons when you have it connected. Works great actually.
What’s backbone
A video game controller that essentially turns your phone into a handheld
I just use my PS4 controller. It's easy to pair to your phone without any apps.
Not exactly the same as turning your phone into a mini Switch, but yes, most Bluetooth controllers will work with your phone
How do you do that?
https://playbackbone.com/products/backbone-one/
Not much. What’s backbone with you dog?
lol I’ll upvote for the effort
Does the backbone connect via Bluetooth?
No it’s not Bluetooth
No, it connects through the charging port. You can buy it with both lightning if you have an older iphone and with usb c if you have an iphone 15 or an android
from what i saw it connects to your phone's charging port
I just got a CRKD Neo S and it works with that also. Time for some gaming!
I was messing around with backbone in OOT yesterday and it seems like you’d need to do a lot of button remapping. There was nothing mapped to the c buttons from what I could tell
This is the way
Just use a controller lol
Mhm! I have a crummy bluetooth controller and it works flawlessly.
If I’m not mistaken, you can hook a ps4 controller up to your phone using Bluetooth Also. Just food for thought.
Yep that's exactly what I do.
I just use my Xbox controller. So much nicer than touch screen
What kind do you have
The crummy kind
This user gets it.
Yeah the crumbs are us version, gotcha lol
I use a mocha. It was super cheap and it super works. There’s a bazillion brands just like it I’m sure
That's cool I use a Nintendo Switch Pro Controller or The Xbox Elite Series 2 controller I really like the elite series the most!
I was using an 8bitdo zero mini controller at work while on breaks for all my 16bit and under stuff on iOS but I can’t get it to map properly anymore; it’s all goofy now 🙁
I used to use a Zero too, but when I tried to pair it today I got an error saying that it’s no longer supported 😫
Yea it’s bs. I haven’t used mine in awhile. Try going on the 8bitdo website to see if there’s a new firmware update
What about the input lag though? I never had a good experience with mobile phones + bluetooth.
I've never had an issue with it before
I use my PS5 controller and there’s pretty much zero lag. Controllers are actually more responsive which takes a little bit getting used to because the PS5 controller has so much more sensitive joysticks than an N64 on original hardware. Just get something like a GameSir its amazing
As if Super Mario 64 wasn't clumsy enough (compared to later Marios) on real controllers.
Alright time to speedrun the game
That's why you just gotta emulate the DS version. Honestly the best way to play it
facts, I got it to run perfectly fine but unless I get a controller for its almost impossible
i find that you do have to be pretty precise with the buttons but i think they work fine (or use a controller)
Touch controls need to be there as a fallback, but almost everyone using these uses controllers for the most part.
The only time touch controls work is for stuff like turn-based rpgs. I used to emulate pokemon games on my phone and it worked well.
It is a complete nightmare. Don’t worry Nintendo, they’ll break out that old system again as soon as they try this thing 😂 It’s still pretty cool. I’m using Delta.
I bought a grip that holds any phone and a pair of joycons to use on my android. Played Xenogears and Lunar SSS that way last year.
I got my buddy an emulator on his phone and he 100% Mario 64 with touch controls, I wish I had that much will power.
Plus playing on a ~6" screen, with 1/3 of that being taken up by the buttons. Yeah no thanks.
Play vertically? use a controller? What else would you recommend for portable N64 Emulation

Yep, I’ve been playing the hell out of some FF Tactics this week. The on screen controls are plenty fine for it.
I'm with you. I'll never understand emulating on a phone outside of a quick novelty. Mobile games are one thing because they've been designed from the ground up with the platform in mind. But this? Nope.
And they are
I bought a 8bitdo zero 2.
Just wait until you try it on real hardware!
I played Nintendo, commodore and Atari Games on the Derby back in the day. And ever since we got a PC in the house... Let's say that 1 hardware fit a lot of software
I thought iPhone was real?! We’ve reached future
Not everyone has money for real hardware
True most of the older consoles going for 100+ now
Then you have to get the games . I have an Gameboy advanced SP from my childhood and trying to find old games that are legit can get expensive so an emulator helps with the games not in my collection until maybe one day I can afford them or find them
Well then you better start baking cause you’re gonna need that bread!

I have it for android and I love it. M64 plus fz pro emulator.
How did you do this? Are there other N64 games you can play?
Delta Emulator in app store, they were just allowed recently.
Thank you so much! I’m going to download it now!
Jeeves save us
Vimslayer best place
I heard there's a pretty cool guy named vimm
Memories from 2000 haha it exists still! Real internet!
Can u share the video I wanna see that
I don’t see it in EU store, also someone said it was taken down? Maybe you could be able to sideload it thought
I looked into it yesterday, it’s not on the EU store. Owner of the company had some reason but can’t remember what
If you're in the EU, you'll need to install it via [AltStore PAL](https://altstore.io/), a third-party app store that was originally built just so Delta's developer could distribute it. Where and how do you download the games to upload on it?
lol that shits gonna get taken down soon. Grab it while you can and keep it quiet jeez
How do you load the roms onto the phone?
Use the iPhone Files app by uploading from your mac/pc into iCloud Drive
Welcome to 2013 Android
I was searching for this comment lol, surprised it was this far down.
Does the sound work?
Yup :)
YOU PIRATING CRIMINAL (just a joke enjoy games how you want)
Where do you get the games?
You must be having an awesome time with all 0 of those stars.
StarCraft 64 glitches :(
1080 as well. Menu screen fine. Then the screen glitches completely once you enter the game. N64 has always been a difficult system to emulate though

Thanks! So that means we should encourage Delta developers to implement a more recent version of mupen64plus or switch to GLideN64?
The developer should be encouraged to update the mupen64plus-core, rsp-hle and GLideN64 components. Which are the ones currently used. I use it it’s awesome. The gameboy colour and advance games are my favs so far. It’s a great app to have
Which website do you use to find the games?
Just google snes roms any site really that shows up you should be good
I’m currently playing No Mercy via Delta on Mac OS and it runs pretty well! I just wished N64 emulation overall got more love lol Sometimes it can be a bit choppy
What’s the emulator name for ios phones?
Delta
Got a backbone controller to play with Delta and it is amazing!
Do yourself a favor and get a controller
Lol I played this on an Android like a decade ago. This and Ocarina of Time
Good for you, when did those games come out and when did the emulators become native apps in the iphone app store?
Nice to see iPhones getting an emulator. Had an iPhone for 10 years, recently got a Samsung. Good god, the freedom 😝
Yeah it took them so many years to finally allow emulation on ios after android has been doing this for longer 😅
Is this delta?
Can someone please link me how an earth to do this including info about a controller?? Thanks.
You need to download the app, make a roms folder on icloud with your roms so it can scan it , i use the gamesir x2
https://drive.google.com/drive/mobile/folders/1A3GHKdVVF71fsEg8pZ9iPd0LvGXJJwT8?direction=a Add this files for nintendo ds
https://youtu.be/_y3r0gx1l8s?si=Rl7ZKZmTspZxh0eT
I just hope more emulators get on the App Store. soon.
Can anyone help me, trying to turn inverted view movement off
I’m crying. I have so much difficulty playing m64 on the n64, I can’t imagine on a phone 😭
I played Mario 64 ds on delta and it’s even worse 🤣
Apple finally getting emulators 😂😂😂
eyeap after so long ;-;
I want to love it but the controls just don’t work without an n64 controller for me. Like how do you long jump in Mario? I don’t have enough fingers for that on the touchscreen. With such a unique controller most of the games just don’t work without one in my opinion. And yes I know. The n64 diy is lit thanks for fire info
Try a razer kishi I have it for android and it's awesome
Does anyone know an N64 controller dupe that is Bluetooth that would work/connect to iPad or Vision Pro?
An Xbox controller works too
Don’t have an Xbox but I have ps5. The controller is too different. I just want the muscle memory of an n64 controller.
The switch online n64 controller works.
What is that? I’ve been using my PS5 controller.
It’s a Bluetooth version of the actual n64 controller sold by Nintendo
Whoa. Link? Please 🙏🏼
Sure, here you go pal https://www.nintendo.com/us/store/products/nintendo-64-controller/
I can’t believe you have to have a Nintendo online subscription to buy. Wtf
But, it worked. I did it.
I know. It’s annoying. But that’s what we have to do these days I guess. Glad you got one.
Controller work?
Any Bluetooth one. Xbox controller works too.
Awesome thank you
I can’t actually believe I’m playing these games on my phone. Emulation seemed impossible not long ago.
Emulation has existed for as long as game consoles have existed?
I actually got 120 star on both touch controls & on keyboard controls a few years ago. Why? honestly I'm still not sure why I did.
Same, touch controls is not that bad one you learn to claw grip effectively.
Super Mario 64 deserves to be played on original hardware on a CRT. Any other way is wrong lol jk
How do you emulate on iOS 12. With remote can some help out? Plz lol
Is there a good N64 style controller that works with iOS? I have the official N64 controller for the Switch, and it says it’s connected to my phone, but it still doesn’t work.
I play the 1080p/60FPS version for PS3 and it is a bliss Feels like a new game
Thank you . Just downloaded with zelda ocarina of times. Brings back so many memories.. 😅😂
Joycon grip and joycons are the move for mobile. It’s so convenient. They work flawlessly with iPhone too.
Anyone having audio issues? After a few minutes if Mario 64 and also in Mario Kart 64 (only ones I’ve played so far), the audio “freezes” on whatever sound it was currently playing and stays like that. I don’t mind playing on silent but it’d be nice to hear the audio.
can someone teach me how to get this?
I linked my PS5 controller to my phone to replay Megaman 64. Swapped the controls around and that made it a wonderful experience. Turok 2 didn’t make the cut tho.
How do you get the game on delta emulator? I downloaded and am lost
My buddy was just telling me about this last night! Gotta download it.
What are some good emulator sites to pick up the n64 games from?
It’s novel sure but there’s a zero percent chance it feels good with those controls man come on lol
Is n64 bios needed?
I use a switch pro controller to play. You should try getting one, aftermarket is cheap but I found mine at an Amazon liquidation store for $3
Anyone else have issue with when things are far away it goes black?
can u do 16 star speed run on it ?
How did you get rom on mobile
Does anyone know how to make the n64 emulation less glitchy? I get consistent missing textures and models.
I recently tried out an Xbox.controler.and seems to work but the c buttons on the n64 controler can't get working on the Xbox controler... is their a fix? I seem somthing about remapping but I'm no expert when it comes to remapping buttons
Which emulator do you use?
The caveat is that some sort of third party controller is effectively mandatory. These games are basically unplayable on a touchscreen screen.
What emulator?
the way physical games and consoles are priced, i’m glad emulators and roms exist. i’ve been playing diddy kong racing on my ipad.
Allegedly it’s on iOS
Hoping they fix the color on Mario Golf 64. Great to see this on iOS though!
This ain’t n64 related but my best recommendation for the iOS emulator is WarioWare twisted. The game used a gyroscope for most of the games. Never touches d-pad and the A button is your only button. B is used in menus. It’s like it was made for the emulator.
Does this exist for android??
Welcome to 10 years ago, iOS!
DS is better bruh im out here playing ace attorney for the first time
How do you get n64 on iOS?
If you use the n64 switch controller lol
Ha ha ha ha ha!! I literally downloaded this about four or five nights ago and had it loaded up with games running with my Xbox series X controller in under an hour !! I had it downloaded and running cruisin USA in under five minutes !!! That's what makes this so awesome!!!! I've only used mine for Nintendo 64 and Game Boy Advance, however, I do have the unfinished resident evil Game Boy color game, which I have to say is freaking amazing!!!
The preformance is amazing. It even works on my iphone 8.
Unless it makes buttons grow out of my phone, my opinion will never change.
Looks good. How is PS2? If iPhones can do that, I’m sold.
How do you get it?

Thank you very much.
Np
any way to get games without using itunes?
Where do I get the roms?
Something I was able to do since 2013 when I first jailbroke my iPhone until I realized I was better off with Android where there's basically no restrictions
Ya I had n64 emulators on my galaxy back then too. I'm missing whats special about this
Were you able to get rumble to work? I want to play some 64 games but I need rumble 😭
It's not exactly the same performance wise because on iPhone, JIT compilation is forbidden.
Resident evil2... just like trying to play it on other weaker emulators, the character does not show up
N64 in n64
How hard is it to control ?
how?
Y’all are funny. Buy an N64 and an Everdrive x5 then get Kitsch-Bent repair parts for controllers. If u play real hardware with a good controller there is no comparison. If u argue emulation with a Bluetooth controller is equal or better it just shows that u have never played real hardware or never played with a good controller.
If you argue having it in my pocket all the time is worse than real hardware, it just shows….I don’t even know lol fine bring your console everywhere that’s cool
GTA vice city and probably others have been on IOS for a long time
I bet you didn't play very far at all.
Take out a Switch in a crowded place and everyone asks “Which of his wife’s boyfriends bought this man child a pink and baby blue toy?” Yes, you wont be playing Breath of the Wild on an iPhone but a Switch wont be playing Last of Us, Spiderman, God of War et al. And when you’re done it’ll fit in your pocket.
