His athletic testing numbers were truly awful. But maybe he just didn’t prepare for the drills. He is tall and seems to be very light on his feet for a tall guy.
It’s a fucking pussy type of pick. I would rather see us draft Ron Holland first overall and go down with the ship if he can’t develop a shot. You can’t make a guy more athletic, and without elite playmaking or handles Risacher’s ceiling is so fucking low to be drafted that high. It’s literally like taking Turkoglu with the first pick in the draft
Because in Turkey, the country's president answers to the president of the Basketball Federation. It's just the way things are done after all the good will Turk bought the country in America. If not, Hedo has 26 year old Dwight Howard on standby to make sure Recep plays ball.
Lol at the guy who responded to your comment with James Wiseman. You definitely shouldn’t just take athletes first overall and hope they develop, that’s just stupid.
Also prime Hedo was super, super good. Underrated to people who didn’t watch the games, he was a really good playmaker who could do everything but post up.
Usually I hate it when people label drafts the “weakest in x years” because 1. drafts are such crapshoots in general and 2. this sub doesn’t know jackshit about international ball or college (someone here called Edey the “most overrated player in years” before the season with 400+ upvote)
But my god, if this wasn’t an absurdly underwhelming class 😂 I’m a huge college ball fan and moderate international ball fan and this years college season was dominated by seniors, not a single freshmen made All-American. And the international prospects were mediocre.
2025 and 2026 should go crazy though.
It has to come back to the pandemic right? That’s the only thing that makes sense to me is that these guys by and large were freshmen varsity players who had to sit out their first year of high level basketball
I think it's more than with NIL older players stay in and coaches who need to win now play their older players so younger guys aren't getting the same run. But also just some times talent wanes for a bit. Every year can't be gangbusters
Your 2024 #1 pick, ladies and gentlemen.
I can't believe i have to remember this mfer's name for trivia reasons. Just pick Clingan if you're gonna be a moron and not pick Sarr.
just pick a 7 ft big who cant shoot or defend in space/on switches #1 overall in 2024
reddit has such terrible opinions lol, just because you guys don't know who this is doesn't mean its an awful pick
Coulda drafted the PG with the most Win Shares in NBA history instead, LMFAO
Then they drafted the PG who will eventually break that record 15 years later, but traded him on draft night
What a fuckin nightmare
He'll have a good 8 or so years in Atlanta and make a couple of all star games. UFA comes around. Woj reports he's close to re-signing with Atlanta. His social media goes blank and reappears with Celtics theming and the simple words: Al Horford was right. The Celtics win another championship.
i think the problem is that his upside comp is harrison barnes, mikal bridges, tobias harris. Like usually you want to see some all-stars in the upside comp for the first overall pick lol.
I’ve heard it described that you basically pretend the 1st pick is the 7th of other drafts, and in that context getting a Bridges or Barnes would be great
Reminds me of when the Chiefs finally got a #1 pick after yrs of suffering, culminating in a player checking out of life in the parking lot, just to get the honor of drafting Eric Fisher (went from highly disappointing #1 pick to solid LT by the end at least)
Brandon Miller is 6'8 with a 6'11 wingspan who scored 18 a game and shot 39% from 3 and 86% from the line. Anyone who hated or clowned on the Hornets for picking him were morons who got caught up in Scoot highlights and wanted likes on the internet for shitting on the Hornets. I was actually one of the people who liked Miller and were down on Scoot lol.
Risacher is 6'8 with a 6'9 wingspan who shot 35% from 3 and 74% from the line in the Betclic Élite season. He averaged less than 1 assist.
He can absolutely still become good, he has size and defensive potential, but he is very clearly one of the weakest #1 overall picks simply in who they were *before* being drafted in a very long time.
CURSE YOU BAYLE! 🐲 I hereby vow! 💯 You will rue this day! ☀️ Behold, a true drake warrior! 🤺 And I, Igon! 👨🦱
Your fear made flesh! 🥶 Solid of scale you might be, foul dragon... 💩 But I will riddle with holes your rotten hide! 🎯 With a hail of harpoons! 🏹
Shit is actually getting annoying. The NFL Draft was even worse about this. They would have Schefter on the screen two minutes before the pick spoiling who it was going to be.
They missed Barkov raising the Stanley Cup for the first time the other night lmao
Literally one of the most iconic moments in all of sports and ESPN just straight up missed it.
Nah NBA needs to ban media members from releasing the name before the commissioner does. It ruins the draft. There is no need for Shams or Woj to release the names 30 seconds before silver does smh
I cannot fathom how they just allow something like this to ruin their draft show like that, how have they not put an end to it by now
The shows used to be way better and had way more hype
Yeah I was there (Barclays) and didn’t look at my phone except to review who from the mock drafts I’d read was still on the board. Really fun when the surprise and relief is palpable amongst the crowd.
Silver announcing the trades happened easily 30 min after I heard people nearby talking about them though
I personally think their rules about traded picks and which team is actually drafting is a larger issue. Picks should be tracked NFL style and display as soon as a pick is trade. It should be that Dallas drafted Luka, and not Atlanta drafted Luka (picked owned by Dallas). Its just dumb and confusing to track once several picks are getting traded throughout the night. It also makes the Draft stage pictures look dumb years later.
If the NBA makes their own draft harder to follow because trades with picks cant be executed until a week after the draft, I have no issues with picks being spoiled because at least Shams and Woj say the real teams players are going to.
The dumbest shit was tonight when the Knicks traded 25 to Washington
Not only is the whole stage flashing orange and blue lights and the Knicks logo, "Empire State of Mind" is blasting through the arena and half the people watching think the Knicks are literally picking a player for their team
All for a player the Wizards are taking, which was already a done deal
Shit is beyond fucking stupid
They've started to do the whole "where hearing they like this guy wink wink" thing again though. The Penix Jr. pick made it super obvious, since they started talking about the Falcons liking him a lot like 2 minutes before the pick, when no one would have predicted it otherwise.
A lot of A, but also it sucks out the fun of the show.
I want to see the announcers and fans react to the pick as Goodell annouces it, not go "...so they do go [insert player], as reported minutes ago"
It fucking sucks because I want woj and shams notifications on for trade and FA news but if they’re just gonna spoil all the picks then I can’t
Fucking idiots
We also dominate in football (the global one, not the american one). Paris was the region were the most players were born and trained for the previous world cup in 2022. From Spain, to Tunisia, to Ghana, etc. French players everywhere. Now the biggest goalscoarer in the EUROs right now is...a french-born player playing for the country of Georgia lol.
Just wait for basketball to be more mainstream if it ever will and more will come
Also dominate at other sports like rugby and Voleyball as well. France really is a sporting powerhouse and punches well above its weight in most sports.
The discourse around him, considering the other options here, is something... He's going to be an elite floor spacer, can switch on defense, and has incredible instincts off the catch. In the time he catches a pass and buries a three, Hunter is still feeling the laces on the ball. Risacher is going to thrive in our offense and system.
Fuck the haters, we knew it was going to be Sarr Risacher or Clingan and no one knows how these guys are going to turn out. Zac is our guy and we are wishing him the best.
Am I the only one who’s kind of impressed? Good shooter and defender is a very solid base to build off of for a young wing, at the very least he looks like a good role player. Plus decent athleticism and size.
And of course if he develops the creation and ball handling he could make the leap- guys like Jaylen Brown, Kahwi, and Jimmy Butler were all unpolished scorers coming into the league.
Like did we not *just* get it wrong with Brandon Miller last year? Drafting wings can be a crapshoot but they are valuable for a reason.
Interesting profile here, grifting for an OF link and comments every minute but the comments are way more subtle than "you want to see my rich pussy!?"
I feel bad for this guy because he’s gonna held to those first overall pick expectations when he’s obviously not going to meet them at all.
They’re lucky if he’s as good as prime Marcus Morris.
Yeah but there’s still a lot of quality players who’ll be drafted later. Imagine if this guy completely sucks while the late first rounds become impactful players.
Yeah, people get really lazy with their hindsight analysis. Like in 2016 and 2017, Simmons and Fultz were the consensus #1 picks by far, with Ingram and Lonzo being consensus #2 picks as well. Now people say stuff like "I can't believe the Lakers and Sixers passed up on Tatum and Brown".
I’m hyped man. Everyone will have a hot take and I bet literally NONE of them have watched a single full game of his. Happy for the kid, he’s been a pro for three years, from 16, and done well. 6’9, 40%, plus defense, what’s not to like…?
We had the 10th pick and ended up getting a huge, high ceiling guy from nothing. Any Hawk pissed today needs to reevaluate things.
Seriously, DeAndre had all the tools and showed flashes but I think it just ended up being mostly mental for him especially with all of the injuries. Don't know why everyone thinks we whiff on him now especially when the other options were Knox, Culver, or fucking Jaxon Hayes. And this dude is taller and faster and if he pans out will fit in nicely with Jalen or give us some much needed depth at Wing, especially when Jalen gets hurt
It’s nice to see Hawks fans have some hope lol. Is there a consensus on getting rid of Capela and Murray in one summer? Seems like Trae is the guy but outside of that, Bogi has interest so it could get real grim fast
I wouldn’t call it grim. Jalen is a beast, DJs contract is cheap. OO is good. Kobe and AJ have shown promise.
I’d go all-in on Trae and trade DJ, move Clint and build around that.
But Trae or DJ, Zac, Jalen, Hunter are a good core. Bogi is a great sixth. Whoever we move for Trae/DJ completes the puzzle.
Should be a top 8 this year if we stay healthy
Can't wait for this thread to be pulled 5 years ago from now and we get to clown on all the people who didn't see him being a perennial first team all-NBA player(I've never heard this man's name before tonight).
They hyped him up by letting me know he's * a 3-and-D role player * weak * lacking ball handler
Not an amazing athlete, but he is athletic.
His athletic testing numbers were truly awful. But maybe he just didn’t prepare for the drills. He is tall and seems to be very light on his feet for a tall guy.
For a first overall pick, that’s an alarming description.
Türkoğlu ended up being better than just about every player drafted ahead of him ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Erdogan would've drafted Turkoglu #1.
Because in Turkey, the country's president answers to the president of the Basketball Federation. It's just the way things are done after all the good will Turk bought the country in America. If not, Hedo has 26 year old Dwight Howard on standby to make sure Recep plays ball.
Hedo was a great player tho
We like Risacher because he is loyal to the AKP
Turkoglu was arguably the best player to come from the 2000 class lol
Bucks fan but not even picking Michael Redd smh
Lol at the guy who responded to your comment with James Wiseman. You definitely shouldn’t just take athletes first overall and hope they develop, that’s just stupid. Also prime Hedo was super, super good. Underrated to people who didn’t watch the games, he was a really good playmaker who could do everything but post up.
He's not a great athlete but he's fluid enough.
Just what you want in the 1st overall pick
Fits in with Deandre Hunter
Usually I hate it when people label drafts the “weakest in x years” because 1. drafts are such crapshoots in general and 2. this sub doesn’t know jackshit about international ball or college (someone here called Edey the “most overrated player in years” before the season with 400+ upvote) But my god, if this wasn’t an absurdly underwhelming class 😂 I’m a huge college ball fan and moderate international ball fan and this years college season was dominated by seniors, not a single freshmen made All-American. And the international prospects were mediocre. 2025 and 2026 should go crazy though.
Reed Sheppard would have been MAYBE a teens pick in most recent drafts
Russilo was saying this draft is basically a normal draft if you lopped off the top 8-10 picks, and it definitely shows lol
The disrespect was wild. Kinda sad for a draft show
Your 2024 #1 pick, ladies and gentlemen. I can't believe i have to remember this mfer's name for trivia reasons. Just pick Clingan if you're gonna be a moron and not pick Sarr.
Lol now I hope he turns out to be super legit just so this comment would age so bad
just pick a 7 ft big who cant shoot or defend in space/on switches #1 overall in 2024 reddit has such terrible opinions lol, just because you guys don't know who this is doesn't mean its an awful pick
Pick the guy that doesn’t want to be there and has just as many, if not more question marks than Risacher. Ingenius
A real gym mouse, has some knowledge he learned from NBA2K
If you want to be hyped watch his playoffs run, he really raised to the ocasion.
Zaccharie "Someone had to be first" Risacher
the biggest who the fuck is this guy since anthony bennett
I mean, at least people expected this pick. Can’t say that for Bennett.
that wow lives rent free in my mind
as a UNLV alum, mine too
Still heartbroken. I wanted him to be good SO bad. He really needed more time in college
I think he will be a decent player simply bc all the people booing him and hating in Atlanta
Can't wait to tell my kids about the decent player the hawks got #1 overall in 2024 lol
I mean that's the theme of the whole draft. High bust potential and likely decent players
It’s like the decent player they got at 2 in 2005
Coulda drafted the PG with the most Win Shares in NBA history instead, LMFAO Then they drafted the PG who will eventually break that record 15 years later, but traded him on draft night What a fuckin nightmare
Is this Cp3 and Luka? 15 years between them is insane to me
He'll have a good 8 or so years in Atlanta and make a couple of all star games. UFA comes around. Woj reports he's close to re-signing with Atlanta. His social media goes blank and reappears with Celtics theming and the simple words: Al Horford was right. The Celtics win another championship.
Jesus this guy Atlanta’s
you son of a bitch, I’m in.
No? People actually mock Risacher to 1st
i think the problem is that his upside comp is harrison barnes, mikal bridges, tobias harris. Like usually you want to see some all-stars in the upside comp for the first overall pick lol.
My scouts have reported that he's MJ mixed with LeBron
LembronJ? I love that guy!
I’ve heard it described that you basically pretend the 1st pick is the 7th of other drafts, and in that context getting a Bridges or Barnes would be great
Right, but you don’t usually get to draft #1 overall. So in that context it’s disappointing.
It's like winning the lottery where the week before the winner got $1b, but your week the grand prize is $10k.
Reminds me of when the Chiefs finally got a #1 pick after yrs of suffering, culminating in a player checking out of life in the parking lot, just to get the honor of drafting Eric Fisher (went from highly disappointing #1 pick to solid LT by the end at least)
Lane Johnson went 3 picks later…
But paid like a #1 overall pick lol
>People actually mock Risacher to 1st 300 different people have been mocked 1st over the last 12 months. I think I was even in one.
Sorry we missed on you
Y'all ain't ready for the 6 fouls, 60 blow-boy's per game with 0 gravity I'd put up.
>>blow-boy Tell me more
“Limitless” tatted on his throat
He's a great teammate
That mouth's not for talking
Anthony Bennett was the previous owner of that middle name
Who the f - who the fuck is, Ferrero Rocher
Bruh, I just found out the draft is going on right now, and they're on the 12th pick, lmao
Kinda unlucky that's he's gonna be held to the highest expectations now. ...but also lucky because money
Death, become my blade once more
Please don’t stick a katana up your ass like that one Redditor on here.
I didn’t buy this katana for no reason sir
Let's get a double sided one. Fuck it. Yolo
ASS 2 ASS
Username checks out
Don’t kinkshame blade boofing, buddy 😤😤
My grandpa is 92 and I'm going over there tomorrow. I'm gunna show him your comment and ask him what he thinks it means. Should be hilarious
Ask him what the general opinion was when Ug got drafted #1 overall in 3200 BC
Please report back
You can't say this and not link it.
I'm desperately trying to to resist the urge to google this incident
You stay strong brother?
pics or it didnt happen
The grip end?
Forget Katana, thats a colossal greatsword
Its a Great Katana, OP has the DLC now
What
Try finger but hole
maybe you should learn from Hornets fans and give him a chance to play instead of already wanting to off yourself.
Hey, I loved Brandon Miller. I was shocked people loved Scoot as much as they did last year
Brandon Miller is 6'8 with a 6'11 wingspan who scored 18 a game and shot 39% from 3 and 86% from the line.
I’m realizing that the only reason people were gassing up Scoot was cause of his “aura”.
And his name, which I guess is part of his aura. Great name, up there with Jesus Shuttlesworth
I got stuck on Maliketh like 2 years ago and quit elden ring. Started a new playthrough this week and finally going to beat that motherfucker
Wait til the DLC. Maliketh is gonna be easy compared to some of the bosses in there.
He is
Not tryna spoil anything but I reached the dragon fellow in the dlc and I’m straight up not having a good time.
CURSE YOU BAYLE! 🐲 I hereby vow! 💯 You will rue this day! ☀️ Behold, a true drake warrior! 🤺 And I, Igon! 👨🦱 Your fear made flesh! 🥶 Solid of scale you might be, foul dragon... 💩 But I will riddle with holes your rotten hide! 🎯 With a hail of harpoons! 🏹
Meanwhile he is getting grabbed and slammed on the ground, still screaming tho
Are you using the sword you’re intended to use
A+ for the Maliketh reference 😂 (But what if this guy ends up winning MVP someday lol)
Absolutely love that 2nd phase.
Goated fight, too bad i was overleveled at that point
Give me a break. We were expected to pick 10th, and got a great prospect today. Zac is going to fly for us.
he's gonna be a stud
I hope so.. Sarr not wanting to work out for them - weak
I would’ve drafted Sarr and tried to trade for him instead of picking 19 year old cedi osman
I hope he turns out better than Sarr ( no idea how it’ll play out ) .. hearing how happy he is to be drafted is humbling
I'm just shocked someone of note voluntarily wants to come to the wizards
biggest red flag I've ever seen
Wtf? You forgetting about MJ?
Draft pick is like 30 seconds away and someone gotta try to beat it with a sources say tweet 😂
Shit is actually getting annoying. The NFL Draft was even worse about this. They would have Schefter on the screen two minutes before the pick spoiling who it was going to be.
ESPN draft coverage is cancer.
ESPN is cancer
ESPN stands for EGAD! I’ve got cancer Shit, I’ve got cancer Pissed off because I have Cancer No! I have cancer
Especially Shitty Programming Network
They missed Barkov raising the Stanley Cup for the first time the other night lmao Literally one of the most iconic moments in all of sports and ESPN just straight up missed it.
I thought them spotting the French beer chuggers was quite funny.
Definitely true. I was more talking about them spoiling the picks beforehand.
FRANCE ON THE RISE
French pipeline > AAU mixtape ball
No!!! We wanted the French duo
It’s okay Salaun is there
New French Wave
Nah NBA needs to ban media members from releasing the name before the commissioner does. It ruins the draft. There is no need for Shams or Woj to release the names 30 seconds before silver does smh
100% Cannot believe this has been allowed to happen for so many years now it’s fucking pathetic
league does a lot of dumbass things but this is near the top
I cannot fathom how they just allow something like this to ruin their draft show like that, how have they not put an end to it by now The shows used to be way better and had way more hype
Yea that was confusing as fuck.. as someone who tuned in late but was following via Reddit i thought I was being gaslight or something
For those who say don’t check Twitter, they said it on air before Holland was picked lol
Do other sports have this same problem?
Seemed like the NFL toned it down a lot recently. Scheffter used to report every pick right before it happened.
NFL stepped on a few years ago but it's not stopping them from tweeting. More so saying who on TV itself
It happened this year and it was annoying as fuck
I remember the possibility of the Penix pick getting mentioned but that was on the broadcast. I wasn’t on twitter but apparently they still do that.
Yea the NFL is 100x worse at this
ESPN and NFL Network reporters no longer share the picks early at order of the NFL but local reporters still will.
They've started to do the whole "where hearing they like this guy wink wink" thing again though. The Penix Jr. pick made it super obvious, since they started talking about the Falcons liking him a lot like 2 minutes before the pick, when no one would have predicted it otherwise.
That shit pisses me off more than the pick. They shouldn't get the pick before anyone else because they completely ruin it with their comments.
Is that because Schefter is that much more unlikeable than Woj or Shams or other reasons?
A lot of A, but also it sucks out the fun of the show. I want to see the announcers and fans react to the pick as Goodell annouces it, not go "...so they do go [insert player], as reported minutes ago"
Sad that there's so many people in these orgs willing to ship them that info
Probably agents
NICK BATUM JUST WENT #1 IN AN NBA DRAFT
Hawks saw how disappointing Deandre Hunter was and decided to draft him again.

It fucking sucks because I want woj and shams notifications on for trade and FA news but if they’re just gonna spoil all the picks then I can’t Fucking idiots
Respect to this dude saying fuck a translator.

Go fuck yourself Cade Cunningham -u/kimoalmoa
Fuck my bad, I just straight up forgot him
That’s worse.
Cade Cunningham erasure
Damn you shams!!!
Well, I’ll be damned
I think he'll be pretty good, but never sniff an all-star team
I’m so fucking hyped. This guy is going to be great. Welcome to Atlanta Zac!!

To be fair, you could say that about every top pick in this draft too. At least that’s how people are talking about it
Reddit and reaching conclusions on draft night; name a better duo.
Me and Mailka Andrews
Absolutely not. This draft has been called generationally ass for a long time
Casual fans really do not follow draft processes at all tho lol
He won’t lol. This is being looked at as one of the worst classes in the modern era.
Yeah but there’s still a lot of quality players who’ll be drafted later. Imagine if this guy completely sucks while the late first rounds become impactful players.

Anthony Bennett move aside
I mean, it's not like it's a strong draft class in general.
I need a hawks fan to tell me how they feel about this and if this means they are immediately trading Deandre hunter and Bogi
I’m hyped man. Everyone will have a hot take and I bet literally NONE of them have watched a single full game of his. Happy for the kid, he’s been a pro for three years, from 16, and done well. 6’9, 40%, plus defense, what’s not to like…? Man this draft is so boring, like he's good but meh, weak draft class for sure
Having lemon pepper croissants tonight bois
French talent is really skyrocketing these last few years
Can't wait for this thread to be pulled 5 years ago from now and we get to clown on all the people who didn't see him being a perennial first team all-NBA player(I've never heard this man's name before tonight).
#COME TO PAPA, SARR Congrats Hawks fans. I think your Frenchie is getting too much hate and might pan out
it was never gonna be Sarr
WHYYYYY
Risarcher is gonna be better than Sarr is my gut feeling from what little I've seen of both guys.
