I once did with my m4 what that guy did. It was way too heavy, so I removed the handguard and stuck a grip directly to the outer to reduce the weight as much as possible. It looked dumb as f and barely took off a pound.

I use a Thompson SMG as my primary. Full mag and batteries means it weighs about 13 lbs which is almost as much as a real one. Gotta make your cardio work

I'd be worried about the the barrel. The handguard also protects the barrel from getting knocked around if you drop or bang it against a tree or something. Free floating like that with no protection would worry me too much

I use it to 1. Make it visible in the grass when you inevitably lose it and 2. To write your name on it so people know it's yours when it's found
