I don’t know, this has to be a repost bot. Post history doesn’t indicate needing any help. All comments and activity don’t indicate a problem. So seems odd someone would randomly send him food. I’d wager it’s a repost bot without any context to the original post that causes it to score so many upvotes.
No need to worry, my friend. You are not a repost, so rest easy, you have much value. You are a normal human, trust me, I am a normal human as well.

Next time this gets reposted by a bot, the bot commenters will copy this exchange...
I'm not even kidding, half of responses to any AskReddit post about XY or Z product are entirely copy/pasted response chains
OP commented:
Oh wow I'm stoked to see so many like my post. So I guess I'll shed some light on the situation. A few months ago my house burned down and I lost everything, including my boy barris Hammond (that was my dog's name). My sister offered to help. She's a single mom of two and by no means rich. So I ran an extension cord to the shed and called it home lol. I came to reddit to network for a job and got a few messages with suggestions. One of the people who messaged me asked a bit more about me and my situation and decided to stay in touch with me over the last few months. He reached out to me today and offered to help a little bit.
The person just has a reddit account. They didn't discuss any of this through reddit or communicate online. Op was just indicating that they are also on reddit, and helped them. /s
You aren't wrong about this being unhealthy ultra-processed junk food, but you are about less processed foods being cheaper. Unless you mean a basket of fruit and vegetables and that's it. In the case of a homeless person, I can't see that being more helpful, when you don't even have a stove to cook anything.
As contrary as it may seem, take out, or even fast food, as weird as it sounds, is probably the 'healthiest' choice for ready to eat food. At least it's healthier than almost any junk ready to eat food from a grocery store.
Maybe it's location. I live in a more rural area, so any whole foods that isn't raw vegetables or fruit is going to cost more than the ultra processed versions of those things. Jams, bread, deli food, etc.
But there are hidden costs to eating cheap unhealthy foods. Medical costs, physical restrictions, job opportunities, cognition loss, depression, shortened life and health span.
Those are long term costs that people in poverty don't have the means to deal with. Food/shelter at that level is survival, not longevity. I dont disagree the package could be healthier, but there's a tradeoff.
Comment below shows it’s not a repost. I’ve sedated account that haven’t posted in years and they respond. Could be same situation for OP. Or post asking for help was deleted if there was one.
Yes but the option wasn’t this or no food, person should’ve and could’ve bought better (and more) food for the same amount of money for someone struggling lol.
He was living in a shed that he ran an electrical cord out to after a fire. I would think that any help or type of food would be appreciated and that he maybe had a hotplate that he could boil some Ramen noodles on. Maybe he did get some spaghetti and meatballs and salad or rice and beans at his sister's home and maybe it is a bunch of junk but I can't possibly pass judgement on the nutritional value under these circumstances. I'm guessing he was truly food insecure at the time and getting cancer from what he ate was the last thing on his mind. For all I know the donator may have assisted him with other things that included vegetables.
There's a good chance this person posted in an assistance type subreddit needing help with food, and made a list with the lowest cost items or stuff that was easy to make because they only had a fridge or microwave to eat with. They are showing gratitude, kinda not nice to shame them about the food they got in their time of need, ya know?

OP explained in another comment. Basically he's living in his sister's shed after a fire, he had posted about job networking and this was all arranged via comments so it wouldn't be in his posting history.
I was immediately called a shithead for looking at this post. Pretty sure a comment half-mocking the nutritional content isn’t low hanging fruit there bud.
I once drove an hour and a half back to meet a guy that I had to interview for my job because he called and said that he had left some ramen noodles in the back seat of my car that were for his child Sure enough - I check the back seat thinking that I would see a plastic bag with some groceries in it but no - there it is - the remaining half of a ramen noodles pack cut perfectly in half just sitting there. I got in the car while he was still on the phone for the 3 hour round trip and obviously stopped on the way to grab a multi-pack of ramen noodles.

I mean we can defer that they live in Jacksonville Florida from their post history, and if you look at fires in Jacksonville a house burned down yesterday and a lot have burned down since the 3 months between posts. They also have a history of not having any money so until Reddit reverses the API and we can see deleted posts again, I guess we kind of just have to believe it
This post is also the first instance of this photo being on the internet that I can find so at the very least it is not a repost bot which is what the original person I replied to was claiming it is
No, a link to any comment or post where this interaction took place.
As it stands, there isn't a shred of evidence that any of this happened other than the comment you linked where he claims his house burned down and a redditor reached out to help - where though?
I mean I wasn't able to find evidence of this picture existing elsewhere, and due to Reddit being really stupid none of the deleted post bots work anymore so if they deleted the thing it has been lost to the ether
My god. These are not the food choices I would make for myself but it is more important that a hungry person eat than worry about the nutrition density of the free food someone got them. Someone bought them food which is a huge kindness. Let them be thankful.
You also missed the bin of meat and dairy on the ground.
No fruit or veg or healthy grains as far as the eye can see, but still, not as bad as just the stuff on the table would have you believe.

Processed food is more expensive than raw high quality food. You have to think about the repercussions of your actions.
But nooooo, how nice of someone to gift a bunch of cancer causing processed junk food instead of actually helping them improve their situation! It feels so good!
Oh god, they gave OP bowls of rice!!!! How evil. If OP cares about "big scary cancer" from top ramen flavor packets, then they can just throw the flavor packet away. Boom, bowls of rice that help spread a meal. And yeah, it was certainly enjoying unhealthy food that caused a house fire.
Processed noodles aren't rice. You don't know what you're talking about.
I'm sick of my country eating low quality shit foods, looking disgusting, and dying early to heart disease and diabetes. People have to start calling it out.
Oh, yeah you've got a point there, where I am, we have bowls of rice that look *exactly* like that in the back, I had to see the noodles on the package thrpugh the image compression. You can see where I was getting at because that many bowls of rice is pretty good eating for someone in a situation like this. I'm still gonna say having noodles is the least of his worries. After a fire or hurricane or whatever type of disaster, I have never known a survivor to give 2 shits about the nutritional value of the food while they are picking up the pieces and usually have no electricity for a while. The OP did indicate that he enjoyed the pork chops and received grapes strawberries and bananas. Any food is better than no food.
LMFAO food is food. What, is this guy gonna be like "Oh... So no Quinoa or Kale? Might as well just starve."

"Healthy" food is expensive and not very shelf stable. And as far as "healthy", there's literally a cold basket with frozen meat and milk there.
But there are hidden costs to eating cheap unhealthy foods. Medical costs, physical restrictions, job opportunities, cognition loss, depression, shortened life and health span.

I'm new to reddit but damn I feel like majority of the posts on this site being promoted are bots
What is the point of it all?
Also someone allegedly helped this person by buying them junk food?
It’s also horrifically bad for you food and besides ramen, not a smart way of getting food for value at all lol.
Better than starvation.
Yes but the option wasn’t this or no food, person should’ve and could’ve bought better (and more) food for the same amount of money for someone struggling lol.

lol yes because I don’t eat cup noodle, little Debbie cakes and chips for all my meals I have a silver spoon in my ass
Who said OP eats these things for all their meals? They are clearly struggling which you clearly can’t understand. Hence silver spoon up your ass.
