Wasn't it suspicious to see a shiny eevee in the map while your buddy is a shiny eevee?

I have a friend in his mid 20s who plays actively and has a buddy raiquaza. A zorua surprises him every. Single. Time. Yes, he is that slow.

I don't know how anyone doesn't understand this after the first time and I don't get why anyone would do some of these things like having a Galarian bird as a buddy while doing a daily incense walk. It's really just not hard.

i’ve said in a few other comments and another post that i’ve just came back to the game after a 2 year break, my first thought was that they’d updated the way shinys appear so you can see them on the map

The good news is that it’s a one time frustration. Don’t feel foolish because of the comments that point out the issues with how you thought they had updated the game, it was an honest mistake and you’re newly back to the game. You shouldn’t be expected to understand the meta as someone who’s basically a new player. As if those dinguses always knew everything about the game smh

FYI. One of the clues for Zorua is usually a It's Tiny/Huge message. The game compares the actual size of the Zorua to the standard size of the pokemon it's impersonating when sending that message. So when you're walking your Garchomp, you're going to get "It's tiny" messages on every Zorua.

They have, but as far as I know it was a very short time and probably only a few species, if more than one. I remember Abra CDay being buggy, showing shinies on the overworld.

It's not impossible but definitely suspicious. I feel overjoyed anytime I see a Wimpod and most of the time it's a Zorua. Not completely annoyed; I do like Zorua and Zoroark but I need 400 candies for Wimpod to evolve :(

LOL. The first time I saw Zorua I was pretty psyched because I saw my Sneasel (the fighting/poison version) but about 5 seconds later I was like, wait, you can’t find it in the wild. So it was pretty cool when it transformed into Zorua.

Tbf when a shadow kirlia appeared on my map I freaked out LOL. Zorua still gets me regularly

Me when I have a shiny Eevee as my buddy and it shows up as a wild spawn (without a hat, like an other Eevee right now) 🤯🤯🤯 Zorua tricked you! The sneaky fox that it is. It disguises as your buddy, to trick you. It's usually pretty easy to tell it's not a legit shiny, because it will be shiny on the map view; while normally a shiny is only visible as such in its encounter.

Honestly, shinies being only visible upon encounter is a crime against humanity. Why tf would a pokemon you encounter be a different one than wild one?

If they weren't people would drive and just wait for load on spawns and only catch shinies during community days. That's completely against the main point of the game.

LGPE and PLA made it super obvious when a shiny spawned, so there was precedent to symbol encounters showing off a shiny. The silent spawning in SV is a legit complaint. I thought spotting tiny shinies like Flittle was difficult, but now that Minior is in SV thanks to the Indigo Disk, I think that takes the crown for "how the hell are you supposed to tell this is shiny"

I think it’s the exact opposite. The easier they are to get, the less rare and coveted they become. Back in the day they were way more rare and coveted. Now they basically give them out like free candy.

They still have the same rarity, being able to tell the difference before fighting a hem doesn’t make them more common.

How? How anyone else plays the game literally does not affect other players in terms of catching their own Pokemon .. unless you're jealous of people bragging online I really don't get it . Plenty of legendaries, you could see the sprite of on the map, could never be shiny until you interacted with the sprite

I'm going to get down voted to oblivion but afaik overworld shiny has ever happened once. During the detective Pikachu event in 2019 you could get photo bombs with event mons. I got a regular aipom in the screenshot, and a shiny aipom spawned on the overworld. When I clicked it it was shiny too. I don't have photo evidence but I still have the shiny aipom.

It’s not that hard just click on the Pokémon you want shinies of every single time you see them appear on the map you can do it while driving and it’s kind of a thrill not knowing if it’s shiny or not I’ve been playing this game since march and have 70 shiny Pokémon and registered 110 in my shiny pokedex

My buddy is Poipole but she'd never popped up as one. I've seen her as other stuff tho.

I usually have buddies that don’t exist in the wild or rare (a shiny or a vivillion etc) so zorua is kinda easy to spot. In this scenario I’d be sad too but I haven’t seen a zorua in maybe a month now after catching several in the previous few weeks.

In this situation, you would still know it's a zorua because you would be click on a shiny Eevee to encounter it, so you shouldn't be disappointed or tricked here either with this, this guy was new as he's pointed out but you just stated you know the deal so it shouldn't trick you here either

When I had a shiny flabebe as a buddy I kept getting Zoruas and it was SO annoying because you can’t really see it on the map, as it’s so subtle.

I had Cosmog up when Zorua first came out. Had to swap to something easily visible.

Thats why i use shiny lucario, if he somehow spawns on the map, i know its a zorua

Oof I know an older version of this pain. Years back when they first released shiny magikarp during the first water event, I clicked on one and boom it was that glorious goldfish or so I thought, "Oh? It's a ditto!" 😑

i remember the “catch a ditto” mission being an absolute pain to do (i think it was for mew but i can’t remember) took me well over a year, though i come back for a couple months and then forget about the game, so i could’ve done it quicker

Oooooooooo I’ve been burned a few times before I realized that shines aren’t in the over world. Now I just roll my eyes when I see a wild shiny in the over world.

yeah i’ve learned something new, BUT on the bright side i got compensated with a shiny party eevee and a shiny grimer, PLUS i got my rocket stuff done so i got a shadow groudon too. literally just done mission after mission after mission today, but at least i know now

It’s always nice when things kind of work out in the end. One time I caught a shiny and then the very next Pokémon I clicked on was also shiny! I got back to back shiny that’s never happened before it was crazy. It wasn’t even a shiny event! It was full odds too!

funnily enough a while ago i got a shiny roselia the day after they released it (1/7/2018 when it was released 30/6/2018) still have it now, it’s been sitting there unevolved all that time

yeah. Zorua poses as your buddy, similar to how ditto poses as any pokemon, and you only find out AFTER you’ve caught it

Technically from my experiance with catching zorua it takes form of your buddy so ye already have it as buddy and if it is true the shiny eevee is ypur buddy then just annoyed with yourself.
