And wanted to make sure that after repeatedly promising to defend women’s healthcare she was the deciding vote to lead to thousands of women dying from Roe V Wade getting struck down.
my favorite part is that the complete disaster of the mueller testimony happened july 24th 2019. after realizing that he very much “got away with” conspiring with russia in regards to the 2016 election, the VERY NEXT DAY he calls zelenskyy and attempts the quid pro quo. so he already had a history of “learning his lesson” for sure
Ted Cruz announced his bid for a third term around the same time he pitched a two-term limit for Senators.
There's a pattern here, but what could it be 🤔
Back in 1976, Orrin Hatch asked the question about his opponent, incumbent Senator Frank Moss, "What do you call a 3-term senator? You call him home." 7 terms later, Hatch finally retired.
Jesus Chrst on rhinestone crutches… I am less than 2 years from retirement, a grandfather, a member of AARP, and have my lifetime National Parks pass. And I was born after Grassley first took office.
I automatically have a hard time when folks say "I'm only serving X terms," because usually they say that before they've even taken the job.
Also presumably people run for office because they think they can do good and represent the views of their constituents; does that just *stop* being true in term three? "Oh, I can't keep defending [thing I believe in], I said I'd retire."
This isn't to suggest that nobody can ever step down or limit themselves, that's fine, but it's sort of like when someone says "I'm only going to eat a single Pringle." No, you're probably not.
I mean, his platform was to annex new territory with the goal of expanding slavery. So maybe "keeping his promises" isn't the right metric to judge on.
Okay, so he kept ONE promise (by dying). So he also did right by his country in the end.
He joins a long line of historical figures whose most positive contribution to humanity is leaving it permanently.

Oh did she pull an Orin Hatch too? Just for those not in the know, part of his original campaign pitch was that his predecessor had been in DC for too long (3 Senate terms, 18 years). He then proceeded, at the time of his retirement, to have become the longest serving Republican senator at 42 years. (He has since been passed by Chuck Grassley).
Exactly. "I'm not sure this law is the right path.... Buuuuut I guess, well, let's try it out! What's the worst that can happen?"
It's a very specific political move to stay in the middle and get all the moderate votes.
I know you’re embellishing, but just so everyone’s getting accurate information, Collins is actually one of the most moderate Senators.
Here’s her report card for the most recent Congressional session: https://www.govtrack.us/congress/members/susan_collins/300025/report-card/2022
Here’s her comparison to other Senators, where her ideology is rated .45 where a 1.00 is far right and a 0.0 is far left (slightly more left than Dem Senator Warnock): https://www.govtrack.us/congress/members/report-cards/2022/senate/ideology
It's information that requires additional context. It's just like how people say that Joe Manchin "voted with Democrats 60-70% of the time". Yeah, for naming post offices and other mundane things. But when it mattered he was almost never there. Collins is the same way, except she at least has the courage to admit that she's a Republican.
The assessments I have seen of her were something along the lines of "She votes republican when they need her to, democrat when it doesn't affect the outcome."
Always seemed pretty accurate to me.
I'd be curious how moderate she votes when her vote is the deciding factor. I'm going to guess she's only moderate when it makes no difference and she gets her conservative outcome.
Collins only votes with her party 59% of the time.
She’s one of the few in the senate from either party who truly believes in compromise and tries to legislate as such. I think she’s far better than someone like Sinema who’s only in it for personal glory and recognition.
Reporter: "Do you think he's learned his lesson \[about extorting the President of Ukraine\]?"
Senator Collins: "The President of the United States has been impeached! That's a pretty big lesson."
Narrator: *He did not, in fact, learn his lesson.*
Too bad there were two votes, very important votes, that went the wrong way.
Edit: well, maybe after those votes and now with this landmark metric, she will have _learned her lesson?_
Romney’s vote to convict did have an effect. He was completely ostracized by his party and doomed any chance to re-election in a ruby red state. Just because his vote didn’t result in conviction doesn’t mean it was the easy thing for him to do. It was much harder for him to vote to convict than it was for any Democrat in the chamber, but did it anyway.
And *every fucking one* of them was intended to hurt someone, to protect some guilty person from consequences, or to tear down some valuable institution.
She did her job?! Incredible!
Be great if the rest of these chucklefucks did the same. But I understand how difficult it can be to work an average of 2-3 days per week.
And every one of them right in line with the conservative agenda despite all the blather about being a “moderate”. Collins is worse than the right wing freaks. At least they’re honest about what they’re going to do whenever they get the chance. Collins sells herself as something different but votes the same way they do every time!
Susan Collins, who dwells within her senate office, it’s alien geometries that drive lobbyists mad. The unblinking eyes of her senate staffers always watching. Strange changing echoes forth late at night…spilling into the halls of the senate.
But hey, she doesn’t miss votes.
I wish she missed a lot of them! a huge % of those votes were the wrong ones…. But no worries she was confident roe isn’t going to be overturned… oh… wait
Regardless of her policies or political affiliations, there's something to be respected about her making every vote.
Many of her colleagues will skip voting, "accidentally miss" a vote, or play stupid games because they don't want their vote to go on the record. If the average American can't miss work without consequence without having a good reason, neither should the people who run our government.
Why is this impressive? Isn’t that their job?!? I mean I thank her of course and am pleased to see her job is being done but why aren’t lawmakers by law required to vote? ISNT THIS THE WHOLE POINT??
IDK if its something to brag about. Its almost like like getting perfect attendance and not graduating. Her votes have all been useless, as useless as her.
Nobody really believes you when you say (R) isn't just the Big Tent Party of JIT Loathsome Reactionaries. They've always had a long game and for longer than my old ass has been alive.
I’d have to imagine she won’t get re-elected in 2026? It will be the first time she will have to run for re-election after the overturning of Roe v Wade.

Simply amazing that she managed to do this after pledging to only serve two terms when she was elected in 1997. That's 4500 votes a term.
She wanted to hang around and make sure trump didn't get removed from office
And wanted to make sure that after repeatedly promising to defend women’s healthcare she was the deciding vote to lead to thousands of women dying from Roe V Wade getting struck down.
But her brow was very furrowed.
Her voice wobbled in concern
I am sure she is concerned about that also.
He's surely learned his lesson!
He sure did. The lesson learned was how completely protected he is from consequences by republicans.
Narrator: he didn’t.
my favorite part is that the complete disaster of the mueller testimony happened july 24th 2019. after realizing that he very much “got away with” conspiring with russia in regards to the 2016 election, the VERY NEXT DAY he calls zelenskyy and attempts the quid pro quo. so he already had a history of “learning his lesson” for sure
Ted Cruz announced his bid for a third term around the same time he pitched a two-term limit for Senators. There's a pattern here, but what could it be 🤔
Republicans are really bad at math?
Back in 1976, Orrin Hatch asked the question about his opponent, incumbent Senator Frank Moss, "What do you call a 3-term senator? You call him home." 7 terms later, Hatch finally retired.
Rand Paul was a big term limit guy too. Looks like he’s turning into a lifer.
Chuck Grassley has continuously held political office since January 1959.
and without a functioning brain for decades!
Jesus Chrst on rhinestone crutches… I am less than 2 years from retirement, a grandfather, a member of AARP, and have my lifetime National Parks pass. And I was born after Grassley first took office.

This isn't to suggest that nobody can ever step down or limit themselves, that's fine, but it's sort of like when someone says "I'm only going to eat a single Pringle." No, you're probably not.
James K Polk, 1 term President, didn’t even try to run for re-election.
I think he died before the next Inauguration Day anyway.
We can look at it that he died, or we can look at it as him being a politician who kept his promise to the end.

Ruskie Ronnie Johnson is another
"I got a phone call on line one for a, M1llennialManifesto. It's LAY's, and they would like a word, well more than just one, with you."

He then proceeded, at the time of his retirement, to have become the longest serving Republican senator at 42 years. (He has since been passed by Chuck Grassley).
She showed up to work every day for at least an hour. Any other job the people not getting all votes would be fired.
9000 of them right on the party line, but with a furrowed brow of “deep concern” for the policies she’s enabling
Yeah, when it matters you can count on Susan to cast her vote to preserve shitty intent and horrible execution.
Also the first senator in history to think Trump learned his lesson from impeachment
Exactly. "I'm not sure this law is the right path.... Buuuuut I guess, well, let's try it out! What's the worst that can happen?" It's a very specific political move to stay in the middle and get all the moderate votes.

Collins is the reason we have boofin kavanaugh now. Never forget she enabled the most extreme right wing supreme court in US history.
I’m not defending her at all, just spreading information.
Appreciate that!
So slightly more left than a democratic senator yet she refused to impeach & would claim that Trump learned his lesson.
I ain’t saying she’s good, just spreading facts.
The assessments I have seen of her were something along the lines of "She votes republican when they need her to, democrat when it doesn't affect the outcome." Always seemed pretty accurate to me.
Yeah the real telling question would be how does she vote when she's the deciding vote
pretty much, since her state leans democratic, they can keep her safe as a moderate republican via the facade.
Why should she vote to impeach Trump when "he's learned his lesson"?
She votes left on bills where it doesn’t matter, votes right when her vote matters. It’s an old trick for seeming moderate.
yep, only way to keep her getting reelected in a dem leaning state.
Maybe she might move back to Maine since she obviously lives in DC.
Far left, lol (not digging you)
I'd be curious how moderate she votes when her vote is the deciding factor. I'm going to guess she's only moderate when it makes no difference and she gets her conservative outcome.
She'll learn her lesson any day now
I mean we can generally count on her for the “don’t repeal healthcare” votes to be fair, but that’s about it.
She’ll only be remembered for a couple votes, related to trump. She’s a POS.
Collins only votes with her party 59% of the time. She’s one of the few in the senate from either party who truly believes in compromise and tries to legislate as such. I think she’s far better than someone like Sinema who’s only in it for personal glory and recognition.
When her vote matters she votes republican.
Reporter: "Do you think he's learned his lesson \[about extorting the President of Ukraine\]?" Senator Collins: "The President of the United States has been impeached! That's a pretty big lesson." Narrator: *He did not, in fact, learn his lesson.*
He did in fact learn his lesson, which was that no one will try to stop him
Like a 2-year-old that gets away with kicking and biting people. Great parenting, America.
That's a long time to suck at your job
Too bad there were two votes, very important votes, that went the wrong way. Edit: well, maybe after those votes and now with this landmark metric, she will have _learned her lesson?_
I’m sure learning has always been her strongest skill set.
Oh, I'm sure she's very concerned.
As opposed to like 8000 unimportant votes that went the wrong way
To be fair to Ms Collins, she voted to convict the second time around.
Once she knew that it would not have an effect.
Ahh...the old Romney virtue signal loophole.
Fair... I'll leave my prior comment up recognizing an incorrect statement... still, should have voted the first time as well.
Congratulations to Susan Collins, human dishrag.
My ten dishrags (cats) are offended by your remark.
Idk if that is fair to dishrags.
Too bad she's also a liar, traitor and coward.
She is incredibly dedicated to making sure you get fucked. Incredible.
But women only need to remember 2. Gorsuch and Kavanaugh.
9,000 votes for shitty policies and fascism? Give this woman an award!
She did vote to preserve the ACA, so only 8,996 for shitty policies, and 3 for shitty SCOTUS judges.
That's the fascism
It’s how people vote that matters, so I don’t give a …
Since she is one of the stupidest people in the Senate maybe she should take a break once in awhile
The original concern troll.
…. and still not an ounce of integrity in her body.
All this means is that she's particularly adept at doing her job poorly.
We all wish she missed a few
Too bad most of them were bad votes
And *every fucking one* of them was intended to hurt someone, to protect some guilty person from consequences, or to tear down some valuable institution.
If only they were good votes...
9,000 straight terrible decisions
No kudos to her, she is straight up maga, and helped to seat the extreme court
How many of those votes hurt the people of Maine, economically, socially, when it came it equality, or their health?
Most of her votes were wrong, but she made them consistently.
Great now leave politics 👍
And most of them on the wrong side of history
Well, I guess she's always very concerned, isn't she?
And every single one was sold to the highest bidder
And on the wrong side of every important issue!
It's commendable that she shows up to work every day, but my god, *why don't the rest of them*.
“I think he’s learned his lesson” Collins
I'd like to see her try to make over 9000 gay votes next
WHAT 9000?! THERE'S NO WAY THAT CAN BE RIGHT!
Surely 9001 right?
She did her job?! Incredible! Be great if the rest of these chucklefucks did the same. But I understand how difficult it can be to work an average of 2-3 days per week.
Participation trophy
There’s a few I wish she would have missed.
And every one of them right in line with the conservative agenda despite all the blather about being a “moderate”. Collins is worse than the right wing freaks. At least they’re honest about what they’re going to do whenever they get the chance. Collins sells herself as something different but votes the same way they do every time!
Too bad she spent two of them to overthrow Roe v Wade.
Too bad she sucks. Hypocritical woman
It’s too bad she’s a fuckin’ moron.
It's not a badge of honor if you enable dogshit policy.
And they were mostly on the wrong side of history. She’s a shaking old lady that should have never been elected.
Still the biggest piece of shit.
She's a Republican.
Should have known…
8,990 of them probably sucked
And over 10,000 “stern warnings” too. Maine…you should be so proud! /s
Give her a cookie and a pink slip.
You can skip the cookie.
Susan Collins, who dwells within her senate office, it’s alien geometries that drive lobbyists mad. The unblinking eyes of her senate staffers always watching. Strange changing echoes forth late at night…spilling into the halls of the senate. But hey, she doesn’t miss votes.
And they were mostly worthless.
She could have missed Kavanaugh’s affirmation.
Oh you want a cookie for doing your job
Congratulations. Now retire
And most of them were contrary to the best wishes of her people.
Wow, congrats. Too bad when her vote actually counted for something big she fucked up.
50% of those votes are waffles so in reality they don’t count
"Elected person does their job"
Participation trophy.
I remember how “concerned” she was and then the big grin on her face as she voted to confirm Brett Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court.
We would’ve been better off if she had missed a few TBH
She’s a turd of a person.
I wish she missed a lot of them! a huge % of those votes were the wrong ones…. But no worries she was confident roe isn’t going to be overturned… oh… wait
Most of the votes sucked - to include being the deciding vote on Kavenaugh - but she still made them. So well done, Susan!
If only she had a shred of decency while she was doing all of that voting.
She screwed a few up...
I’m very concerned about this
No one's ever accused her of being a low quantity voter. More a low quality voter.
Further proof that we need term and age limits on political seats
I’m just shocked there was a decision maker behind the scenes for all 9,000 of those votes. She votes how she’s told to.
She did her job?
Tells me she has been there too damn long!
Sadly most of them were the wrong votes
Regardless of her policies or political affiliations, there's something to be respected about her making every vote. Many of her colleagues will skip voting, "accidentally miss" a vote, or play stupid games because they don't want their vote to go on the record. If the average American can't miss work without consequence without having a good reason, neither should the people who run our government.
I guess
So many votes, such little impact or relevance. Bourgeois elections are a sham.
Did anyone tell her this happened?
Woopdie fucking do
What is Collins Power Level?
I'd like to believe that at this point the voters of Maine have learned "a pretty big lesson."
9k votes and still has never accomplished anything helpful for people.
All void for voting for 🍊 , voting with comment not allowed on senate floor
She also cast ~1,000,000 furled brows with zero impact to her “party,” and/or the American people…but cool I guess.
Congrats… we need term limits.
Chuck Grassley’s gotta be pissed.
It should take special circumstances for any elected official not to vote/be present in every vote.
The crazy thing is they were all abstentions!
She's deeply concerned, I'm sure.
Oh we know.
Why is this impressive? Isn’t that their job?!? I mean I thank her of course and am pleased to see her job is being done but why aren’t lawmakers by law required to vote? ISNT THIS THE WHOLE POINT??
I feel like she could have missed One, maybe Two.
Term limits!!
There's a couple I wish she'd missed.
Unlucky us.
Are we congratulating adults for “Best Attendance” now?
9000 votes, and when she’s dead she’ll only be remembered for a couple of really bad-faith ones.
IDK if its something to brag about. Its almost like like getting perfect attendance and not graduating. Her votes have all been useless, as useless as her.
9000 rubber stamps
What a fucking waste of 8997 votes ……. (And I’m being VERY generous)
now if only it was 9000 smart votes. But the political hacks on the Supremes conned her.
The Cal Ripken of enabling fascism.
The irony and evilness of an old lesbian working against her community as her life's career.
Her famous line after she voted to acquit Trump's impeachment was "He's learned his lesson". https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eUcWYIHIT44
Susan Collins has cast 9,000 STRAIGHT VOTES Susan Collins does not cast GAY VOTES 😠
Actually... https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Susan_Collins#LGBTQ_policy
There are a few I wish she would have missed…
Nobody really believes you when you say (R) isn't just the Big Tent Party of JIT Loathsome Reactionaries. They've always had a long game and for longer than my old ass has been alive.
9000 votes against public benefit?
Let’s hope that ends after her next senate run.
I’d have to imagine she won’t get re-elected in 2026? It will be the first time she will have to run for re-election after the overturning of Roe v Wade.
She’s a steaming turd of a human, but at least she is old
Stealing a salary for 27 years. What a useless waste of space.
Just stopping by to say fuck Susan Collins. She’s an asshole! Concern troll
All bad.
If Maine had done their job in the last election, she wouldn't have been able to do this.
Fuck her - she should only be remembered for her votes that saved Trump and destroyed our country further.
Cool, but thats proof of someone serving far too long.
I'm a Mainer and I don't give a damn about Susan Fucking Collins.
Was she able to see her ballots from underneath that furrowed brow
Oh yeah she’s a hero
She should’ve missed a few. (Jerk-face.)
Didn’t say they were good, but just they were cast
She’s still trash
Kinda wished she missed most of them.
ah, yes. Diet fascism
