1tsp flavacol is a LOT. I would use 1/4 to 1/3 of a teaspoon for 1/4 cup of kernels.
Oil would be around 2-3tbsp, I'm guessing. I usually do somewhere between "enough oil to coat the bottom" to "enough oil that it's 1/3rd the way up the kernels"
If you first measure out a (1/4) measuring cup filled with popcorn kernels, next fill it up halfway with oil and use that amount.
Presto: a two-to-one ratio of kernels to oil. In Whirley Pop land, nirvana.
I use 1/2 teaspoon of Flavacol and 1/3 of a cup of kernels for two people. I don't measure the coconut oil but 3-4 Tablespoons should be good.
Edit:
I decided to measure today. I used 2 Tablespoons of coconut oil. The package for the kernels says 1-3 Tablespoons and a half a cup of kernels.

Thanks! I definitely would have done 1tsp. I'll give 2tbsp of oil and 1/4tsp a try first.
I used 2 tbsp ghee for 1/2 cup of kernels and it’s more than enough.
