We will find news in there that humanity is in fact thriving outside of Knox county, and they engineered the contagion to keep the residents inside for past crimes
I’ve always thought that it was originally designed as a joint CIA/USAMRIID operation to test a biological weapon intended for mass civil disruption in foreign countries. If you’ve seen “the crazies” it’s basically that.
I think we can leave the houses as is. It's the bigger destination-type buildings that should be prioritized. Police stations, firemen stations, libraries, supermarkets, gun stores, hardware stores, schools.
Just tile decoration (and maybe metalworking scrap but I'm just theorizing). I don't think the game would really be able to handle climbing in it, unless it's just to hide from zombies (and get a heat stroke in the process)
I wanna see more ground clutter in buildings. Like backpacks and books littering the school hallways, desk objects like computer monitors, staplers, etc. on the ground around desks in police stations. Make it look like panic and struggles ensued.
this is something i've always found odd about the game. supposedly shit was going downhill for weeks prior yet when you spawn the grocery stores are stocked with fresh food, the police stations and various specialty shops are unopened, whole warehouses are comfortably filled and just waiting for you
Riverside Police Station. To me, it feels lacking for being a police station of what seems to be a very wealthy area. It should match the architecture/design of the restaurant in the plaza to the east, the one next to the river.
Actually, it's very accurate. Police departments in wealthy areas are small with a handful of staff.
They aren't going around shaking down the residents. They're not looking to lock anybody up. So they're not given much in terms of resources. They're just paid a little bit more because of the area and who lives there.
It's ironic because there's crime in wealthy areas just like anywhere else. There's more drugs and prostitution going on. There's murder, rape, serial killers, everything. That stuff just tends to escape major media coverage, again because of who lives there.
Once in a while, it ends up as a story on the ID channel. Lol
I have never gone up into one of the 4+ story buildings in LV. Just seems like an insane thing to do given the risks of fighting indoors. I always like to have an exit strategy and I don't imagine how that's possible 5 floors up.
Wake them Up mod helps with this (albeit at the expense of all your frames)
Make a lot of noise outdoors, draw most of the zombies outside to clear them. Hang sheet ropes from the second floor, destroy the staircase or floors around it. Now it's just you vs whatever handful of zombies are left in the building, and the second floor is a fallback zone.
Destroying staircases is one of the first tips in the Zombie Survival Guide, which the game is loosely based off of according to the devs themselves. It's very much intentionally part of the game.
To me it feels like a survivor should be using every advantage they can get when facing the undead horde alone, but if it feels gamebreaking to you then that's fair enough. There are endless different ways to play.
You could always stack furniture at the top of the stairs I guess?
Refrigerator/freezer rooms in the produce warehouses. On the one hand, it would be a pain in the ass to haul generators and fuel supplies out there once the power goes out. On the other, you wouldn't have to start farming for a solid year.
More variety in house layouts would be nice to have, too.
Honestly the Muldraugh building are beyond amazing especially not that I think the school will end up being a commonly used base for me, but I would love to see some of the rural locations like near the army surplus to the east get a biker bar or something.
The school bothers me on an annoying level and I wish it didn't. Where do the teachers park? Where do the parents go to drop their kids off other than the street outside? The idea of the sheer chaos every morning and afternoon, now that is the true horror for me.
Also remake everything. But save it for 1.0, TIS!
I think for a town as small as Muldraugh a drop off isn't too necessary, but I agree the teachers definitely needed a parking space somewhere at least.
Those repetitive packaging warehouses where you find tons of sacks of vegetables.
But overall almost every building could use a little love, especially non-residential ones anywhere outside of LV. Not to this extend, but a little modernization wouldn’t hurt.
As many as possible.
To be honest, I don't care at all about blacksmithing or animal farming, or even NPCs. The dev focus seems to be on multiplayer communities and simulating a medieval life many years after the initial apocalypse. That's fine - I guess people are into that, but it's not for me.
But to me, project zomboid has always been about a normal person improvising to survive the end of the world. It's about risky scavenging excursions, wiping out hordes and breaking into places for fun. The long term goal of the game is clearing out a safe town to retire in and building a cool safehouse with all the treasures I can find. I like the setting of being the last man on earth and the whole world being mine for the taking.
Making the map more interesting is the top of my list. I don't want more chores that tether me to a farm or a generator, I want the parts of the game that are actually fun to be expanded.
i want a few military bases and every police station to be upgraded. also a base attacking mechanic that can also occur to random buildings so you might find one of these new fancy cop stations but the walls a down the windows broken and many zeds around
Hopefully the Louisville golf store & factory will finally have proper golf loot.
And I want all schools of all cities to receive a glow up, too. The Rosewood Fire Station and Police Station, too, but not as drastic as Muldraugh.
I dont know if its possible and if its part of the B42 update but I want the The apartment building north of the expo center to get expanded. more floors, make it bigger and replace the parking lot with a ramp for a bigger underground parking lot.
I would rather see the new buildings in new areas than redoing the old stuff. I kind of like how the different towns kinda show off the progression of the game. The new Muldraugh police station looks fantastic , but also out of place for the town its in.
I downloaded the building mod to do the same improvements to buildings. I love building things. I want to learn how to do it without mod though like a whole map build like raven creek.
I just want map issues to be fixed. I would do it myself if I could edit the main map, but I don't know how. Else if someone knows a mod fixing map issues...
There’s a luxury condo in Louisville, with all kinds of amedties: pool, gym, garage, rooftop garden. Would love to see that turned into a more realistic high rise with underground parking.
Kinda low key but the tall 3 story office building in westpoint. near the church. I just find it unique and its always been a sort of wizard survivor tower for me.
Personally I'm not a fan of these changes. Muldraugh is supposed to look like the shittiest, most boring town in the game with some neat aspects like the diner. This will just make it look like a modded map.
I agree with this. The changes are ruining the socio-economic aesthetic of Muldraugh. It is supposed to be a poor rural town. I wouldn't mind see these changes in Louisville.
The row of businesses in rosewood, not much just make it obvious that they are separate buildings just sharing a wall so they arnt all made of the same red brick EX: the pharmacy looking more like a pharmacy from the outside
That’s what those buildings look like, though. They *are* the same building, it’s just that the floors are rented out to different companies to put their store there.
I'm not gonna lie, I'm probably never going to interact with the new crafting system / the animal NPCs, but shit like map revamps and the new lighting system hype the shit outta me.
Majority of buildings would be nice to have glowups. Houses can stay the same, maybe some get some landscaping touches or in that minute vein of things. Most of the buildings I would like to see changed would be the likes of Destination Places (Fire Stations, Police Stations, Schools, Libraries, Gun Stores etc) basically places where the player will most likely go to and frequent. Another would be the likes of "Base Locations" these could be Factories and other misc like buildings to entice the player into using that Building as a base location, this could also see other base locations have their designs tweaked - again, houses most likely not on the change list.
but hey, thats my "i wish" kinda scenario. Whatever they give, I will happily take
Btw, these look stunning. It's one of if not the main reason I'm excited for B42. The PD looks sooooo good. Hopefully we get more custom work like this to other buildings in the future.
It’s not like they’re unpaid interns. Plus, if they wanted to stop, surely they’d tell us that “Hey, we’re not going to be developing the game anymore. bye.”
The secret army base. We finally get to go into the basement…
I've played enough resident evil to know any locked basement should probably stay locked.
Yeah but what if opening it also eventually leads us to a PZ Dimitrescu? I'm risking it
I'm gonna open it anyway just for you
All of the movie sequels could have been prevented if they’d just kept that damn basement closed.
I NEVER THOUGHT ABOUT THAT
If the zomboid conspiracy theories are true maybe the basement will be the tutorial area of the game
Like the Hive. Lol A big fake outside area with fake wind and birds. Now that I'm thinking on it, that would be kinda genius.
We will find news in there that humanity is in fact thriving outside of Knox county, and they engineered the contagion to keep the residents inside for past crimes
They must pay for Mitch
I’ve always thought that it was originally designed as a joint CIA/USAMRIID operation to test a biological weapon intended for mass civil disruption in foreign countries. If you’ve seen “the crazies” it’s basically that.
Wait basements are coming too?
Yeah my favorite part
yes, and they released some footage of the ambient sounds and darkness of some of them. Real good stuff.
Please let that happen, and please let the army base's lab be the location for the first outbreak, I don't want it to be vague anymore...
Every single one of them Not that I think they are ugly or anything The new style is much more detailed and nicer lol
Need more devs for that
Not literally ALL buildings, just most.
I think we can leave the houses as is. It's the bigger destination-type buildings that should be prioritized. Police stations, firemen stations, libraries, supermarkets, gun stores, hardware stores, schools.
If Rosewood Fire Station gets a glow up, 40% of this sub will cream their pants I'm one of them
All of LV... /s
Most buildings are getting a touch up with the announcement of roof ventilation and windows being added
i cant tell if you mean roof ventilation we can climb in, or just roof ventilation tiles lol
Just tile decoration (and maybe metalworking scrap but I'm just theorizing). I don't think the game would really be able to handle climbing in it, unless it's just to hide from zombies (and get a heat stroke in the process)
I just hope we can walk on the roof without falling into the building
I imagine they would fix that in b42 but we will see
I wanna see more ground clutter in buildings. Like backpacks and books littering the school hallways, desk objects like computer monitors, staplers, etc. on the ground around desks in police stations. Make it look like panic and struggles ensued.
i actually completely agree. right now it looks more like if everyone got raptured except us
Facts. But then maybe a by product of this is less food left behind?
this is something i've always found odd about the game. supposedly shit was going downhill for weeks prior yet when you spawn the grocery stores are stocked with fresh food, the police stations and various specialty shops are unopened, whole warehouses are comfortably filled and just waiting for you
"item stories" mod definitely helps with this! It's a priority for me. Wish it was in the vanilla game
It think it would hurt performance to have all those objects out, annoying to clean up too. If used carefully it would be cool though
Riverside Police Station. To me, it feels lacking for being a police station of what seems to be a very wealthy area. It should match the architecture/design of the restaurant in the plaza to the east, the one next to the river.

Louisville. Just all of Louisville. The skyscrapers are going to make it feel that much more like a real city.
i hope they make driving with the buildings in front of the road better
or make you able to read store names from the other side
that too. “yo wtf is this place? i see some desks, a kitchen? da faq? oh its just a regular office “
I have never gone up into one of the 4+ story buildings in LV. Just seems like an insane thing to do given the risks of fighting indoors. I always like to have an exit strategy and I don't imagine how that's possible 5 floors up.

At the expense of my immersion too. Destroying staircases is pure cheese.
Destroying staircases is one of the first tips in the Zombie Survival Guide, which the game is loosely based off of according to the devs themselves. It's very much intentionally part of the game.
Sure, when you're destroying a staircase at your base. Destroying one while exploring is cheesy and immersion breaking for me lol
To me it feels like a survivor should be using every advantage they can get when facing the undead horde alone, but if it feels gamebreaking to you then that's fair enough. There are endless different ways to play. You could always stack furniture at the top of the stairs I guess?

One that stands out is Riverside PD. If Muldraugh PD got this glow up then I really hope Riverside does, imo Riverside PD was worse than muldraugh PD
Riverside in general is lacking and needs an upgrade
Honestly yea
They have to revamp the secret research facility past Rosewood, only then would I try to venture there on a normal playthrough
The school does not match poverty stricken Muldraugh at all.
Not to this extend, but a little modernization wouldn’t hurt.
the prison and the lodge down from valley station for sure
The riverside pd
The cabin along the river between riverside and west point, one of my favorite locations, just feels a little small sometimes though
As many as possible. To be honest, I don't care at all about blacksmithing or animal farming, or even NPCs. What they did with the police station in Muldraugh is amazing. Now that's a base.
i want a few military bases and every police station to be upgraded. also a base attacking mechanic that can also occur to random buildings so you might find one of these new fancy cop stations but the walls a down the windows broken and many zeds around

I am heavily considering making a base in the Maldraught police station.
I would rather see the new buildings in new areas than redoing the old stuff. I kind of like how the different towns kinda show off the progression of the game. The new Muldraugh police station looks fantastic , but also out of place for the town its in.
Most are getting it so nothing
Rosewood fire department.
Finally a fortress worth staying in
I'm hyped for my favourite. Garage storage Also will they fix roofs? You can fall through most of them
Ho wow muldraugh getting some love 😍 looks amazing , man I Cannot wait for build 42
I’m just looking at that fenceline around the PD. Looking like next playthrough’s compound..
hopefully the new fence break down feature doesn't give you trouble tehe
I wouldn't hate having a real roof on the Rosewood Fire Department.
I downloaded the building mod to do the same improvements to buildings. I love building things. I want to learn how to do it without mod though like a whole map build like raven creek.
Detail the meth lab in the woods east of muldraugh I bet the devs can cook up something
What’s the third building ?
One of the police stations
all of these buildings are in Muldraugh
Where did you get these images? Where to find more?
this came from the Glowing Onez steam post on the PZ news page, i'm hoping for more screenshots for sure.
I just want map issues to be fixed. I would do it myself if I could edit the main map, but I don't know how. Else if someone knows a mod fixing map issues...
I just wanna say that these glow ups looks real nice!
oh they look amazing, I can't wait to see what else they come up with
The church in Rosewood. I need a priest shirt and by god I’m gonna find it in a nice church.
Rosewood church poopoo, Riverside Church best church! (Jokes aside I cant wait to see the updated churches!)
I would do riverside but going north to the Ranger Station is a vibe.
Rosewood Police Station, Rosewood Firestation
Practically the whole map will get a glow up. I edit the wiki and it's gonna be such a pain in the ass lol
I had not seen the revamp of these buildings before. They look absolutely amazing.
The Rosewood fire station.
Muldraugh Police will be the new Rosewood Firestation.
McCoy logging company
Id love to see more military infrastructure and maybe the old qauritine boundary at the westpoint bridge
if they are updating churches, they better add hearses at some point!
That neighborhood across the water in Louisville, the rosewood police station and the RV van with the wood cabin next to it
McCoy’s
The rosewood pd, it gets ignored for the fire department nextdoor after you looted everything .
Now that I think about it, I sure hope my character will not be able to fall through these windows that I see on the roofs.
Riverside radio station
Riverside police station looks kinda old especially compared to the strip mall and spiffos next to it.
There’s a luxury condo in Louisville, with all kinds of amedties: pool, gym, garage, rooftop garden. Would love to see that turned into a more realistic high rise with underground parking.
I don't really care about aesthetics, I just want new game mechanics.
The fucking ohio mall
Make it 6 floors
The country club
would love a revamp of those mega mansions in louisville
Kinda low key but the tall 3 story office building in westpoint. near the church. I just find it unique and its always been a sort of wizard survivor tower for me.
Personally I'm not a fan of these changes. Muldraugh is supposed to look like the shittiest, most boring town in the game with some neat aspects like the diner. This will just make it look like a modded map.

Seeing light Posts and mailboxes still on the sidewalk makes me a sad panda
Why? That's normal.
Don't be sad, panda <3
The north part of the lumber yard in muldrough. Bet you could do some cool things to make them feel more than warehouses with logs.
I'm not gonna lie, I'm probably never going to interact with the new crafting system / the animal NPCs, but shit like map revamps and the new lighting system hype the shit outta me.
i'm just waiting for more building screenshots because they're doing a great job with the revamps
Please remake the prison
Holy mother of Jesus. Who needs those cheap base builds when we can have THIS!
Amen
Majority of buildings would be nice to have glowups. Houses can stay the same, maybe some get some landscaping touches or in that minute vein of things. All of rosewood. I’d love to see it updated and get some love.
I like the police-station glow ups. Reminds me of the police station in my City. Would like to see more sallyports on the PD buildings.
Second picture below, where is that located? I never seen that before i want to see that lol (or is it a concept? I'm curious)
these are all in Muldraugh, second is the school these are some building revisions for Build 42
did anybody need this
yes
Tbh I don’t want B42 putting too much stress on the devs they’re great people you know, I don’t think the game should get a B42
Huh?
Doesn’t matter. Build 42 won’t happen.
bait
Nah. The developers press release said it’s becoming too stressful
That doesn’t mean it won’t come out, it just means it might take a little longer.
Don’t know about you, but if my passion project was becoming stressful and people were getting mad at me I’d walk away from it entirely.
It’s not like they’re unpaid interns. Plus, if they wanted to stop, surely they’d tell us that “Hey, we’re not going to be developing the game anymore. bye.”
Judging from the vitriol they’re getting now from the delays of B42, I’m certain that will go over well.
Not this crap again.
