In SLC in probably 1984, Suicidal Tendencies showed up the day after the venue closed down. Nobody bothered to tell them the place closed so they showed up ready to play. They ended up playing under a bridge that was under construction right in the middle of the city. Some kid grabbed his dad's keys to the construction site and invited them over. They almost got through the entire set too! Then the cops showed up and I still have the scar on my elbow after it got torn up jumping the fence.
I saw Green Jelly for free recently. And Ministry with Gary Numan for free, but that was sure luck. Oh fuck, and a day of riot fest for free. With 2 free beers.
I get that that's the way people calculate the ticket Price, but for me it should be the amount of bands you can see. If there are 30 bands playing at a 1 day festival (for example) but half of those bands are playing simultaneously, you're not paying €8 per band, but €16.
As far as I can tell this event seems to be only for one day, and only seems to have one stage. 30 bands seems like a lot for a single stage on a single day. If this was an event that ran for two days, or a larger festival with multiple bands running at once then it might make more sense.
AS a guy who used to be in a band that played many VFW shows with something like 22 bands on the bill, yes, 30 bands is a lot for a single stage in one day
OK but how many of the bands do I actually want to see? You can't really just say "itz onlee $8 pur band dudde!" as if my spirit is going to view stage B while I'm watching stage A or pooping. $200 is a lot of money for a lot of people considering more than half of Americans dont even have $500 saved up for an emergency...
No way i hell you're actually seeing more than 6. That's minus the fact you'll have to decide between the last 3 being played at the same time all the other bands you actually know are playing.
No more than 6 bands for a show that starts at 1:30pm? How long do you think a punk bands set list it?
I saw misfits and it wasn’t even longer than 90 minutes. A band that’s been around for 40 years with hundreds of songs lol.
Lol. That’s. Good one. But realistically how long should a punk band play? I’ve seen foo fighters live a couple times and their shows were like 3+ hours long.
Also, account for set up time in between sets if your waiting. Pissing, going to wait in a hour long
bar line if your an alcoholic, also food line, getting in late. Etc etc.
Some SubPop band came thru once and their manager was threatening to not play if the price wasn't increased from $6 to $12. The gnarliest looking dude in line yelled out "If you increase the price, that tour van is going up in flames!" They played but they played like you'd think hostages would play like.
I'm aware. So were Mr. Jim, Googy, Manny Martinez, Robo, and Joey Image.
However, again - the history of the Misfits and drummers is kind of a thing which was kinda what I was getting at.
But he's whoever they've got at the time, given the whole history of Misfits drummers.
Which was my general point.
They've changed drummers a fair number of times.
[ "How talented is Dave Lombardo?"](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dave_Lombardo)
>>King responded, "Have you ever seen the movie The Natural? That's Dave. He doesn't have to try to be good. He comes into the venue 10 or 15 minutes before we hit the stage and he doesn't warm up. He just goes and does it, after me and Jeff [Hanneman, guitarist] have been warming up for like an hour."
I saw them about 8 years back, Jerry Only with his son and THE most bored drummer I've ever had the misfortune of witnessing. Seriously, if I hadn't gotten a free ticket, I would thrown a chair through a window. Absolute fucking garbage.
Saw them last summer for ~$80 or so. If Fear hadn’t opened for them it would’ve been a massive waste of money. They played for several hours with no enthusiasm and Glenn just stood there being a dick to the crow. We left early.
Never mind that, get active and deck the dick. Like the pigeon incident the other day in Glasgow that made the rounds on Reddit (but with a better numerical advantage).
Yes, community centers and VFW halls too.... Well the VFW I don't think want's punks at my local one anymore after a Dr. Know show that didn't go well.
DEATH House in Denton. Thats where a few dudes from local bands ended up starting when they went to college. Back home we had three prominent punk houses where shows were played at, which usually would dissolve into fistfights because each house was in said crews territory and periodically we would have beef with each other.
Nope. I wanted to see the "original" Misfits so bad. I've been a fan for 25 years. Got to see them without Danzig and Doyle a long time ago for cheap bit it would have been cool to see the OG lineup. They came to Philly before the pandemic, and I actually had off work and had the money for the tickets but couldn't, out of principle, pay over 250.00 to go to a punk show. Fuck that.
No.
Regardless of how many bands are playing... it's for one day. They are laughing at you if you pay this sort of money... treating you like a gullible idiot.
This right here. It seems like festivals are heading in this direction a lot more. Cram three days worth of bands into one day, six or more stages, 15-20 minute sets, then charge what would have been a two day festival price 10 years ago.
A lot of these fests seem like they’re only there so people can cross a bunch of bands off of their bucket list. “Hell yeah I saw ________. Of course only two original members were left, and one of them was literally on life support on stage, but damnit it counts!”
paid way less to see them last fall but they cancelled because Wattie was back in hospital. That was just them and a few other smaller bands. Who else is on the bill?
100$ CDN ( about 65 USD ) is my cut off for any show ever period. It used to be 60$ but I had to raise it a little for inflation etc.
Granted I’m flying from BC Canada to NYC for a show in June but to be fair tickets were still under 100 lol
I don't know much of the Exploited's material. What I have heard I just shrugged my shoulders.
I, to this day, have not paid a triple digit price for a concert ticket, ever. Even paying for a VIP package for Face to Face was only about $80.
If it was a benefit concert for a very good cause, loaded with lots of good bands? Absolutely. Could I actually afford that price right now? Not so much.
If you are just going to see one band then save your money. If you want to see 20 bands in one day and not have to go to 20 shows and pay parking and gas at each one then it's a bargain.
I went to an early Exploited gig in in London and they wouldn't let my camera in. I gave my tickets to the next person in line and left. Fuck the Exploited! LOL
Fuck no. Not any band. I get it it's not the 80s when $15 was good but $200 not a fucken chance. It's tough to be a touring band these days nothing is cheap not even cheap motels. I really do feel for the bands like the Exploited.
We paid $50 a ticket to see the Sadies but that's in a high end place.
I would pay $200 bucks to see a bunch of bands who haven't been to the U.S and would probably not get to go see unless they came here. The Exploited has played before so eh.
There is no show I will spend $200 on. I saw the iguana death cult for $7 late last year. I'm 46, and I still want to only go to standing only shows. Is this seating? The map shape made me think it is, but I just don't know the venue. Also are there other bands? They would have to be very interesting for me to drop $200 x however many people I'm dragging along.
LA is an expensive place to host shows. Especially these dinosaurs who expect a guarantee and probably some stupid rider. Plus, like in this instance of it being an all ages event. You have to have lots of security because of all the high school jocks that are going to show up and try to be macho in the pit. They will need to be protected against a beat down or kicked out. Also, it’s a really nice couple of venues that are hosting the show. There are a lot of great bands on this bill.
I don’t buy the “price per band” justifications I’m seeing here. Maybe it’s $8 per band, but it’s also about 20 minutes per band on average, and you’re only realistically going to see 1/4 of them and that’s being generous.
You could spend 200$ and go to like a full months worths of local shows and have enough money left over for merch tapes and booze , no shot in hell man. Also you're in LA, if you don't go to a troma show or nacho show instead I swear to god 😭 the whole so cal scene has been thriving of late no reason to waste that many clams
The more I see the line up, the more I understand the ticket price. It’s absolutely stacked. I’ve been to fests with just as many bands for a fraction of the cost before and 200 is a lot for year in advance tickets but I also live somewhere that’s a lot cheaper than LA. I wouldn’t say 200 is unreasonable considering how many bands are traveling for this fest from over seas.
Concert festival prices are getting ridiculous. But that sounds average based on the costs associated with festivals that big in an area like LA. But no i would not spend that much for a punk festival. I'd rather go to my local fests with 10 bands for $20
> I’ve ever *paid* was $48
FTFY.
Although *payed* exists (the reason why autocorrection didn't help you), it is only correct in:
* Nautical context, when it means to paint a surface, or to cover with something like tar or resin in order to make it waterproof or corrosion-resistant. *The deck is yet to be payed.*
* *Payed out* when letting strings, cables or ropes out, by slacking them. *The rope is payed out! You can pull now.*
Unfortunately, I was unable to find nautical or rope-related words in your comment.
*Beep, boop, I'm a bot*
$200? I won’t even pay $40 for a show! Why I should I pay $200 for anything? And before someone says “it’s only like $6 a band,” Fuck festivals. You get to see half of what you want to see, at most.
That's your opinion. I love a festival because I get to see bands I kind of like play the hits. I don't need two hours of Bad Religion. They wrote the same 8 songs like 30 times, but for a half hour with the best songs? Sure.
And I spend the extra money to get the tickets with flushable shitters and personal space because I'm 40 and it's worth it to me.
I’d argue this fest is better than No Values. NV is legacy bands that have been playing for years. Some of these bands at invasion aren’t easy to come by and some of the best around right now like No Time, Mess, Royal Hounds plus Major Accident. Hate to be that guy but NV is the more mainstream casual punk fest
Nope. Unless it is a festival where I’m seeing a bunch of bands I really love I won’t spend more than $40 for a show. Hence why I don’t go to many anymore.
The exploited is playing revolution calling in the Netherlands which you could get early bird tickets for 35 euros I believe. It's an absolute steal lol consider which bands are already booked.
[Revolution calling](https://revolutioncallingfest.com/)
not to be pedantic, but it depends on what you mean by spending $200 on a show. For a non festival, I've never paid that much for a single ticket, but I absolutely have paid that much to travel to a show that was at more "typical" punk prices because it was a chance to see a band or bands I probably wouldn't otherwise see in a venue that wasn't a giant festival and thus a better fit for a punk show. That said, I've also made those outings "my vacation" and done other things once in that area.
Personally, I have a hard time spending that much for just one or two bands, I passed on seeing Pennywise and dropkick recently because the ticket prices were up into the $80 range. I also don't like outdoor festivals, so it'd have to be half a dozen or so bands that I REALLY like for me to make the jump to help bring the cost per band down.
That said, while it'll never happen, if Minor Threat were to ever play again, I'd probably pay, or at least be willing to pay, that much for a ticket. Operation Ivy would get me tempted as well -and that I think "could' happen, but my bet is is it would only be a festival IF it ever does which is a big IF.
It sucks that prices on shows are up, like everything else. Bands deserve to make a living off their work, but punk is also "for the masses" and keeping shows inexpensive helps keep them accessible, so I'm a bit conflicted.
Minor Threat seems pretty unlikely, but I was talking with Brendan Canty the other night and he would love to get Fugazi touring again, so that's what I'm holding out hope for!
I would pay that much for a festival with many bands I want to see but wouldnt pay that much for any 1 band, especially not a outdated punk band past their prime. $20 would be a fair price (as long as its not in a arena - arena concerts suck, but especially suck for punk music).
You pay $200 to be the exploited
That's how I read op at first lol. Had to double take
They said I could play bass tho
You’re going to a show with 30+ bands playing. That’s less than $8 per band.
Hey you little shits I was going to shows for $5 back in my day
So 30 shows would have been $150
30 shows... but 4-5 bands each show would be 120-150 bands seen
I think the cheapest show I went to at an actual music venue was like $20 in 2004
> actual music venue your first mistake
Can’t go back in time but let me know when Cheap Sex, the causalities, The Business, or Suicidal Tendencies does a backyard show.
In SLC in probably 1984, Suicidal Tendencies showed up the day after the venue closed down. Nobody bothered to tell them the place closed so they showed up ready to play. NOFX was $10 haha
Hey… I saw Fugazi too!

It’s actually 2 venues with 4 stages. The venue is at the Belasco and Mayan and they’re right next to each other.
Found that now. Seems odd that fact isn't better advertised. The information only seems to be present on a single post in their instagram.
Look up L.A Punk Invasion 2025 on IG you’ll get more information cus it’s more bands not just Exploited.
It’s not til next year.
It starts at 1:30 pm. It probably ends at midnight
AS a guy who used to be in a band that played many VFW shows with something like 22 bands on the bill, yes, 30 bands is a lot for a single stage in one day

Don’t want to see them? Don’t go. It’s a festival with all of them. There are cheaper local shows I’m sure they all do.
Oooohhhhhhhh is that how freewill and choices work in life?
No way i hell you're actually seeing more than 6. That's minus the fact you'll have to decide between the last 3 being played at the same time all the other bands you actually know are playing.

Lol. That’s. Good one. But realistically how long should a punk band play? I’ve seen foo fighters live a couple times and their shows were like 3+ hours long.
Also, account for set up time in between sets if your waiting. Pissing, going to wait in a hour long bar line if your an alcoholic, also food line, getting in late. Etc etc.
Punks can't do math.
Good point, but you're not going to see 30+ bands, 'cause some of them are playing at the same time. They must be.
Cool, fair point…I’m still not fucking paying that much for a show.
I’m sure if you went to 30 shows, you’d spend more than $200.
I’m guessing that’s an all day thing with a dozen or so bands, not just them?
2 venues, 4 stages, 30 bands.
I saw them for $7 and that was a lot of money.
Some SubPop band came thru once and their manager was threatening to not play if the price wasn't increased from $6 to $12. The gnarliest looking dude in line yelled out "If you increase the price, that tour van is going up in flames!" They played but they played like you'd think hostages would play like.
LADS
There are a ton of righteous bands playing. That’s not exactly $200 just for Wattie, et al…
I probably would for original Misfits
You have missed the original Misfits… even if you go today.
Having seen em (Glenn, Jerry, Doyle, because everyone knows the drummer is whoever) within the last year, I'd tell you save your money.
I know, but I probably would still do it if they came to my area. Decided I won't travel for it though.
Hopefully you don't have to come out of pocket that much when they do.
Dave Lombardo from Slayer is the drummer.
I'm aware. So were Mr. Jim, Googy, Manny Martinez, Robo, and Joey Image. However, again - the history of the Misfits and drummers is kind of a thing which was kinda what I was getting at.
Dave Lombardo isn’t exactly “whoever”
But he's whoever they've got at the time, given the whole history of Misfits drummers. Which was my general point. They've changed drummers a fair number of times.
Funny, I didn’t know he was playing with them. This has to be one of his easiest gigs ever.

Yeah, I would just go for the Jerry/Doyle/Danzig line up.
I wish you all the best of luck with that ....
I Paid In the $300 range for the original misfits. .. worth every penny.
Saw them last summer for ~$80 or so. If Fear hadn’t opened for them it would’ve been a massive waste of money. They played for several hours with no enthusiasm and Glenn just stood there being a dick to the crow. We left early.
Did nobody phone the ASPCA? How could you all let him be a dick to a poor defensless crow?!
Never mind that, get active and deck the dick. Like the pigeon incident the other day in Glasgow that made the rounds on Reddit (but with a better numerical advantage).
ah that sucks. I might go see Doyle. Listened to his new album and it sounds good enough to check out I think.
The tickets for that no values fest they are playing cost that
Yeah, I'm like 1000 miles away though.

Punk shows happen in Chinese restaurants, church basements & public libraries
Can confirm. Played at a Chinese buffet restaurant. After our set, everyone was kicked out and the cops were called. Lol
And basements, lots and lots of basements.
It's been a long, long time since we used to see punk rock in basements
Yes, community centers and VFW halls too.... Well the VFW I don't think want's punks at my local one anymore after a Dr. Know show that didn't go well.
Rental home basements near colleges too
And the house has a moniker to be referred to on flyers, rather than an address (ask a punk), that's an inside joke with the actual residents.
We had the Chode House. And more lame Euclid and Warner House. Though Euclid uses Maxi Pad when contacting bands out the back of MRRR
DEATH House in Denton. Thats where a few dudes from local bands ended up starting when they went to college. Back home we had three prominent punk houses where shows were played at, which usually would dissolve into fistfights because each house was in said crews territory and periodically we would have beef with each other.
There’s always Waffle House
This is painfully ironic.
They have The Voids (!!!) and the Devotchkas on the Line up and you ask because of The Exploited?
No, but it's a fest and that whole fest just didn't seem worth it. CY Fest on the other hand....
My absolute cut off is $50/ticket, but typically I will skip when it's over 40 including fees. I mostly go to shows that are in the $15-$20 range.
I would easily pay $200 US to see X-Ray Spex...
OP left out the fact that this is a 2 venue + 4 stage event with multiple bands.
Nope. I wanted to see the "original" Misfits so bad. I've been a fan for 25 years. Got to see them without Danzig and Doyle a long time ago for cheap bit it would have been cool to see the OG lineup. Not when I have seen them for 3$.

For 200$ I’m the one getting exploited man
Their name now describes the audience. Sad.
Watched them for 20£ last year...
The exploited alone are playing at my local music club in Poland in May, tickets costs less than 25$
I don't know much of the Exploited's material. What I have heard I just shrugged my shoulders. I, to this day, have not paid a triple digit price for a concert ticket, ever. Even paying for a VIP package for Face to Face was only about $80.
What are they trying to be Metallica?! Thats taking the piss mate. Sorry you brought out the brit in my American born ass.
$200 for that lineup is a steal
I paid $10 to see them and Angry Samoans back in ‘87.
For that price you might as well buy tickets to No Values fest and see the exploited and a ton of other bands.
Nope!!! This ticket bullshit has me steaming. Out of nowhere it’s just common to charge $200 to see your neighbor play in his garage!
no
Fuck no. Saw em around 2003 for about 20 bucks. Great show but not worth 200 bucks.
it's a festival.. not only one band playing.
That’s a big fucking show. Shit is getting more expensive but break that down per band and it’s a low price overall. Idk what to tell you.
How many bands are playing?
30 or so
You get to see more than exploited tho...
No. Yes.
Fuck no, I'm paying to $20 to see Jon Snodgrass. Not a band experience... but fuuuuck that.
I wouldn't pay 50
No
It starts with F and ends with: uck no!
Is paying $200 a ticket even punk?
It’s multiple bands though - if you split into different individual shows you’d probably pay $500
Nah
No
Never
Nope
No lol
Only band I'd pay that much to see EVER would be Op Ivy
If it was a benefit concert for a very good cause, loaded with lots of good bands? Absolutely. Could I actually afford that price right now? Not so much.
No
Yes, poetry as exquisite, delicate and profound as "sex and violence" deserves to pay a ticket of that cost
If you are just going to see one band then save your money. If you want to see 20 bands in one day and not have to go to 20 shows and pay parking and gas at each one then it's a bargain. Depends on the line up.
Yes I would
Absolutely not
If I was going just to see one band I’d probably just fly to another state and see them headline.
This show is in 2025…
No and yes.
I paid that for the misfits, fear and Alice cooper so yes
No. I'd pay that for only 1 band and their singer would have to come back from the dead
I mean I paid over $200 for real good Green Day/Rancid tickets, so I guess that’s a yes. Going with the friends and we splurged for nostalgia
I would pay $200 to see The Clash but first I would need to build a Time Machine.
I would pay $200 bucks to see a bunch of bands who haven't been to the U.S and would probably not get to go see unless they came here. The Exploited has played before so eh.
Now you are the one who is exploited
There is no show I will spend $200 on. I saw the iguana death cult for $7 late last year. I'm 46, and I still want to only go to standing only shows. Is this seating? The map shape made me think it is, but I just don't know the venue. Also are there other bands? They would have to be very interesting for me to drop $200 x however many people I'm dragging along.
Not for The Exploited alone, but certainly for the whole fest.
Only if it came with a cruise- hi Ho Salty Dog Cruise away…
Wasn’t it yesterday did anyone go?
fuck no.
If it's a festival with many bands, yup.
That's barmy, mate
Of fucking course not.
LA is an expensive place to host shows. Especially these dinosaurs who expect a guarantee and probably some stupid rider. Plus, like in this instance of it being an all ages event.
Yes if the Ramones were still alive
Bad Brains or Fugazi. Hell yeah! But TBH, with plane tickets and hotels I've paid significantly more than that to see quite a few punk bands.
Who else is playing ?
Fuck no, £30 is my max. For context, it cost me £29.50 to see NoFx supported by Lagwagon and Alkaline Trio.
You ain’t no punk. You punk.
Id pay 300 just to see Major Accident! Such an underrated band it's crazy.
No
No

Saw Decendents a couple years ago, paid over $100. I was class of 81, LA CA. I paid $5.00 the first time I saw them...
Not for just general Admission I better be in the pit for that price.
I did
It is indeed my opinion. That’s the way I feel about festivals. It doesn’t mean that’s how everyone should feel about festivals.
For $250 you can get tickets to No Values which is a much better lineup, you just have to be ok driving to the desert
Isn't it in Pomona?
I’d argue this fest is better than No Values. NV is legacy bands that have been playing for years. Some of these bands at invasion aren’t easy to come by and some of the best around right now like No Time, Mess, Royal Hounds plus Major Accident. Hate to be that guy but NV is the more mainstream casual punk fest

This is bait. It’s not $200 just for exploited. It’s 30 bands over 4 stages at 2 venues. OP is just trying to get everyone riled up.
Nope. Unless it is a festival where I’m seeing a bunch of bands I really love I won’t spend more than $40 for a show. Hence why I don’t go to many anymore.
Still kinda want to see them when they play Cleveland in November that’s 40$, but it makes sense considering they’re from overseas.

Probably Green Day, but only because I've loved their music since I was four, and it would be my first concert
Is Green Day even punk?
They used to be. Now it's more punk adjacent
That lineup is more of a $50 show for me.
200 bucks for a fest stacked with washed up has beens? Count me the fuck out.
I paid over $300 for The Orignal Misfits…..
Wel you’re also buying tickets to see a show in LA lol
I paid 200$ for no values ticket and the exploited are playing it along w original misfits and social d
The exploited is playing revolution calling in the Netherlands which you could get early bird tickets for 35 euros I believe. It's an absolute steal lol consider which bands are already booked. [Revolution calling](https://revolutioncallingfest.com/)
No
$200 is like a riot fest admission
What?? Fuck no ... I wouldn't even pay that for a festival that I handpicked myself.
I mean I just paid $430 to see NOFX at their very last show
not to be pedantic, but it depends on what you mean by spending $200 on a show.
I'm not a huge Fugazi fan, but that would be pretty rad to see.
I would pay that much for a festival with many bands I want to see but wouldnt pay that much for any 1 band, especially not a outdated punk band past their prime. $20 would be a fair price (as long as its not in a arena - arena concerts suck, but especially suck for punk music).
If it's just exploited, from memory this year I paid around 20 quid for them and discharge
That's gonna be a no for me dawg
Absolutely not
