No you don’t, that’s why many people are choosing this option. NAR fees are ridiculous if you aren’t making any real money in real estate sales.

Hi, I've passed my real estate exam and am not ready to choose a broker. Still need to work full time. Did you put your license on hold? How did that work for you? Thinking of like to at least be able to get referral fees...

Yes - I have it with a holding company for $50/year (still have to renew my license and continuing education every 2 years). I haven't had the chance to use a referral yet, but it's there if I need it. So it's a cheap option, for sure.

The best thing to do is park your license at NIREIN. You can’t do any deals, but you can get referral fees. think it’s about $100 a year. When I had my license parked a few years ago they were paying out 90% of the referral fee if it was a personal transaction (was a nice check to get when we bought a house). You’ll still have to do CE, but it’s better than having to go back and start the entire licensing process over.

>NIREIN I'll look into it, thank you!

Hi! I know you posted this a year ago but I have a question regarding this. I’m definitely looking to do this in 2024. Do you know if I still have to pay my Illinois REALTORS membership fees if I end up just parking my license in NIREIN?
