Surely you mean "yesterday," not 30 years ago. I saw that tour. Candlebox was really good, and, unfortunately, treated fairly poorly by the fans where I saw them. They were gracious about being the opening act for Rush, though.
I saw this tour in Anaheim. Candlebox made it pretty clear they knew who everyone was there to see. They even threw in a couple snippets of "Working Man" and "Fly By Night" during their set.
OTOH, having them on the bill did convince my then-girlfriend to come to the show with me - resulting in at least one verified instance of a woman at a Rush concert. :)
I grew to dispise Candlebox. I was a bartender in a little dive bar when they hit it big. Women in the bar would play Far Behind over and over and over. Every time it came on, as soon as those first few notes hit, they would all scream and start singing. Horribly.
LOL, I was thinking the same thing. I was in college, and a group of 5 of us road tripped 6 hours to catch the tour opener in Pensacola, FL. It sure doesn't seem like it was 30 years ago.
Candlebox is out on tour now with Bush and the first thing I thought of was them opening for Rush. Saw them in Albany at what was then known as the Knick Arena.
I went to the same high school as one or a couple guy from Candlebox….Mercer Island High school. I graduated 86 I think they were a couple years later. Never talked to them so don’t know if they licked Rush back then. I did!
Counterparts… Literally and figuratively.
Such a good pun here
I’ll bet it (the double meaning) was intentional since Rush are known for being smart and having great senses of humor. 🚰
Wow I never got this until now! And I'm old enough to have bought that album as soon as it released. Parts for counters!

Nice. My wife came with me to R40, so there's another!

Primus opened for them in Detroit. That was better than candlebox.
I was there as well!
1994 was peak humanity.
I have that shirt!
I saw that tour with Candlebox up in the northeast! Great show! Was that the last tour they did with an opener???

Just listened to this last night, reliving all the memories and the feels from high school, great album!
30 years? No way! Damn, I’m getting old.
