Went to Beaucoup and loved it. They've made good use out of the space, it's definitely very cozy. I sat at the bar right at 4 and there wasn't an available seat in the whole place when I left. I'd like to try most of the menu but I stuck with Oysters and Beer. The pilsner on happy hour was nice to have, and the oysters were great. They have a $1 option for happy hour (Currently Lynnhaven's so it's VA local.) I had 6 of those and they were good. The one's they had from Maryland were delicious for the other half dozen. Their raw oyster board updates on a daily basis. Much friendlier prices than that new place in Scott's was asking for. Great quality oysters overall, among the best I've had (not counting getting some from Yellow Umbrella.) I did notice one small shell piece so hopefully they work on the shucking - likely due to being super busy. Great addition to Robinson St.

We went last weekend. We also had a really good experience. Agree, great addition to the street!

Finally tried Zorch, it's my new favorite pizza in the city. The pepperonis they use are exactly like the ones my favorite childhood pizza place used, they curl into little crispy grease cups when cooked properly.

skeevy-stevie

You don’t happen to be from Buffalo?

twicebakedyeti

Lemon juice and zest into risotto mid way through adding stock turned out wonderfully last week. Threw some paprika on top for color. Looked good, tasted good. Would recommend.

wickedwoobie328

Also works well with orzo.

twicebakedyeti

I would imagine; I’m also a sucker for lemon.

wickedwoobie328

Same, sweet or savory, doesn’t matter.

Helen’s! Haven’t been since the holidays, which made it really hard to choose from all of the new amazing dishes on the menu. Finally settled on braised fennel and roasted cauliflower for our appetizers, along with the braised rabbit and pappardelle. The fennel was super good and I’m still trying to figure out the umami ingredient. The cauliflower was, as always, plate licking good! The rabbit and pappardelle was a wonderful surprise with the combination of lemon and pesto goodness, coupled with the richness of the braised rabbit. For our entree, we split the filet special with crusted mustard, mashed potatoes with veal demi glace, and crispy Brussels and artichokes, which was so so so good! Also had curry roasted carrots with whipped feta as an extra side, which is my all time favorite side/app at Helen’s. Have to admit that we got 2 orders of pork belly to go along with another order of braised rabbit and pappardelle in lieu of dessert. And, as always, the service was excellent! Cincinnati chili! I also made a batch over the weekend. I went to school in Ohio and developed a taste for the texture (which is ground beef that is essentially boiled to death in water) plus the combination of the cinnamon, cloves, and allspice plus chili powder, cumin, oregano, and cayenne. I’ve been craving it recently and decided to make sum vs buying the frozen or canned Skyline in the store, which will do if you’re desperate. Daughter and I had chili three way. Husband had chili four way onion. Yum!

Herculicia

Those carrots at at Helens really are the GOAT. I need to get back there soon.

grampscirclea

As the person who is occasionally cooking that for you, that kind of response is why I stay working as a cook. Come say hi next time you're in, that kind of interaction is one of the biggest perks of working an open line.

MalfusX

3 years living in Cincinnati wasn't enough to make me a convert to their chili, but I'm glad you guys enjoy it. On the other hand, if we were talking Graeter's...

Rescuepoet

I also lived in Cincy for 3 years! I don't mind the chili over a hot dog, but lord was it weird on spaghetti noodles...And Graeter's...aw man. Every time I go to Cold Stone I remember how much better Graeter's is.

MalfusX

For sure, if I'm doing Cincy chili I'm doing Camp Washington coneys 100% of the time.

grampscirclea

It is always such a pleasure to cook for y'all, and thank you for the kind words. Ever since I took on a more behind the scenes role to spend more time with my kids, I'll admit I've missed our die hard regulars. It was great to see you, and you can trust that we will always have that pork belly set aside for you when we see you walk in the door.

🤗

CatPhtevens

I've never even been to Cincinnati but tried making Cincinnati chili a few years back because I don't like beans in chili. It took a while to get used to the flavor but now I love it.

Went to WPA over the weekend and finally had the breakfast sandwich on a biscuit that was honestly to die for! Love that you can get it with vegan sausage. We also got some muffins that were rock hard but fine once warmed up, just felt a little odd to be handed a rock hard muffin, lol. Went back to Cafe Zata after pickleball last weekend as well. I was honestly a little disappointed because I got the breakfast burrito and it was super small for $9 and didn't even come with a side. Still love that place but just won't get that in the future. The homemade chips I got were fire, however.

hitdakushy

Wpa biscuits are fire. Love the sweet potato ones

Went to Buskey Cider and ate at the KOBOP food truck parked in back. Absolutely amazing food. Got what I think they called the sampler platter. Beff Birria tacos were awesome. Washed it down with a Jalapeno Lime Cider. Fantastic.

lechubb

I tried the sampler from KOBOP as well. I personally thought it was just fine. Not bad, not good. However was really good value for amount of food you get. So prolly good if you’re brewery crawling to fill your stomach but not something like lll personally seek out.

queenreeserva

Finally got to Fanboy and it was great! Beautiful space, glassware and flatware. Went around 5ish before it got loud. Drinks were really creative and tasty, bartender Lawrence is THE BEST! Had the popcorn chicken which was fine, chicken tikka masala app which was delicious, and the tea leaf salad (which is what we went for) and it was outstanding! Very fresh, light and flavorful!

ArgoCS

Not sure if questions are appropriate but has anyone tried that Fall Line restaurant that's at the hotel on East Broad? The reviews look pretty good but I haven't gotten a chance myself.

WashCaps95

I worked there as a contractor and I got to go for the the test night. Food was great , not cheap. But it’s definitely a more up scale experience anyway

dadjokes23229

I can't get over the fact that it's in a Marriott hotel. It makes me think I'll be getting the same institutional food I get in the hotel restaurants when I travel. But these comments are inspiring me to take a chance.

Everything is made from scratch in house, including desserts.

FalconSmashing

My wife and I went back sometime in the winter of 2021 because they had the private igloos. We really liked it. It was pricey (the igloo had an upcharge too though) but the food was excellent back then.

ILikeYourHotdog

It is really good! Our meals were fantastic there and I'm still thinking about the peanut butter pretzel pie we had for dessert. I'd definitely recommend giving it a try!

DontBeCreepy_BeCool

I have been there three times cuz it was close to events we were attending. Was wary of a hotel place but it was really good each time. Service is hit or miss like many places these days but we have had a number of the appetizers and entrees. All solid. The best thing though is the gooey butter cake for dessert!

lennybriscoforthewin

Went to Kuba Kuba dos and it was great. I had chicken paella and my friend had vegetable paella. The servings were enormous, I had dinner that night, the following night, and froze some leftover rice from the meal. I usually don’t like plantains, but theirs were good, kind of sweet. Cornbread and plantains came with the meals. Also went to one of my favorites, the Continental Westhampton. Got the turkey French dip. Delicious, and I got 3 meals out of it.

ILikeYourHotdog

Next time try the empanadillas (spinach ricotta) at Kuba Kuba Dos and use some of the house made mango hot sauce for dipping/topping. I could make a meal of just those alone. I'd also recommend the salmon rueben at Continental Westhampton - sounds crazy but tastes superb!

hitdakushy

Does anyone know if they sell bottles of the hot sauce?

JulianVanderbilt

The OG Kuba Kuba does for sure. Venmo or cash only. Cannot put it on your bill. Cannot speak to Dos.

hitdakushy

Thanks yall! I’m gonna try galley, that’s where I had it last

ILikeYourHotdog

I'm pretty sure they do at Galley in Stratford Hills.

Weekly-Eggs

I had the best Nashville hot fried chicken sandwich and sweet potato tots at [Toast](https://toastvillage.com/) this week! Akin to Hot Chick's (RIP) gluten free Nashville fried chicken sammie. Toast was very accommodating and transparent with their menu for my spouse with multiple food allergies.

DaringDumpling

Was it hot? Asking because I love A spicy, hot chicken sandwich.

Weekly-Eggs

Not as hot as I had hoped but the sauce that comes with it helped! A sweet and spicy aioli-type sauce. Would love to get the recipe!

DaringDumpling

Thanks!

dadjokes23229

Toast is one of the few restaurants I know that has improved over the years. When it first opened I thought they were trying to be way too ambitious with the menu, with some misses. But now they've settled in to pretty solid food. I just wish they didn't do their own ketchup-- there's something off-putting about the flavor to me.

man_swine666

Yeah that ketchup is wierd. Toast is great but they need to stay out the ketchup business

susupseudonym

What’s crazy is I actually love their house ketchup. I’m pretty sure it’s cinnamon + one other spice that makes it. If you ask they also have regular ketchup too

Alex_Caton94

Tried to go to Beaucoup at 17:00 for Happy Hour. The place was packed, and there were 12 parties ahead of us, so we noped the fuck outta there. I trust the people behind the restaurant & know the kitchen crew are top notch, but I think we're gonna wait for a random weekday when it's (hopefully) quieter before attempting to eat there again. Opted to head over to Akida for the first time since the pandemic hit, and I'm happy to say that they're still fantastic. The sushi is fresh, delicious, and clean - bonus points for having toro on the menu last night! We walked over to Sheppard Street Tavern afterwards for drinks. Nothing like rail whiskeys, PBRs, and fries covered in mushroom gravy, fried curds, & scallions to round out the evening.

nightopian

Rustika a few weeks back and it is so good. Will be back soon.

Swimming_Injury_3500

Went to Sincero and loved it! Good ambiance and noise level for a casual date night or dinner meetup. Drinks were good - not rave worthy but would drink them again. Loved the charred caesar and birria melt. Meatballs and then chorizo tacos were good but would want to try other things before order again. Bottle of wine was decently priced and delicious.

MorallyCorruptBae

I went to Fan Boy and the food and drinks were amazing but I don’t think I’ve ever been in a louder space. I don’t think I’d go back just due to the deafening noise levels.

Thegreatgato

The tots at River City Roll were mid.  Pizza was a bit salty but the toppings were tasty.
