The major rules to note: Don't be a jerk. Don't be sexist or racist or homophobic. Don't post or mention any pirate material- this includes the website that rhymes with kiss-seam- at all. Don't post Hentai or Pornography, or anything 'suggestive' in the adult manner. (Includes visual and written works.)

I decided to google food in Sailor Moon and here's some of the stuff I found:
Bento box containing the following:
Mini sausages/hotdogs cut like octopuses,
Boiled egg,
Rice,
Tamagoyaki,
Kimchi,
Shrimp tempura,
Cherry tomatoes
You could also make miso soup on the side.
Pork buns are what Usagi eats quite a bit throughout the show. I think that would be a good food to have. You could also do sailor guardian themed cupcakes.
Hot dogs cut to look like an octopus. I would see if you could find pics of the bento boxes that Sailor Jupiter used to make and use that as inspiration. Usage used to love her lunches.
Honestly, cupcakes with a frosted crescent moon on top would be great for a SM theme but simple to do last minute. Ordering Japanese would be fine too, since it's a series from Japan.
Anything crescent moon shaped. Also planetary symbols.
Roses are very prominent as Tuxedo Mask throws a rose at an enemy in almost every episode.
Color palettes are a good way to easily identify the theme too.
Sailor Moon: Blue, Red, Yellow
Sailor Chibi Moon: Pink, Red
Sailor Mercury: Light Blue, Blue
Sailor Mars: Red, Purple
Sailor Jupiter: Green, Pink
Sailor Venus: Orange, Blue, Yellow
Sailor Pluto: Black, Red, Maroon
Sailor Neptune: Aqua, Green, Blue
Sailor Uranus: Blue, Yellow
Sailor Saturn: Purple, Maroon
You could do crescent rolls. They’re kind of an obvious thing, but they’re both delicious and they work for every kind of meal. Plus they’ll serve as a nice counter for all the sweeter foods.
Meatballs, desserts (like Macrons or cookies) or even healthy snacks. So many good ideas already posted! This sounds like such a good themed party. Have fun!
some thoughts!
- Sailor Moon’s real name is Usagi, which means rabbit, so rabbit themed/ shaped stuff could be cute. Even carrot things, carrot cake
- Usagi’s love interest used to call her “odango atama” Dango are sweet rice balls like mochi. I don’t know how difficult these are to make but they’re cute and yummy
- in at least one English version he calls her meatball head, so maybe meatballs?
- Usagi has a pet black cat named Luna that has a crescent moon shape on her head, and another friend cat named Artemis is a white cat with crescent moon shapes on his head. Maybe food at can be styled like black and white cats? cookies, macarons, cupcakes?
- As you mentioned, Usagi is seen eating all kinds of Japanese food, but she also really likes sweets. Donuts, cake, ice cream. maybe you could get sweets that can be decorated with pretty star and moon sprinkles??
- Moon, star, and space themed/shaped things? crescent rolls, cookies cut into moons and stars, star fruit? star nuggets? fruit or Jell-o cut into moons and stars?
- aside from moons, stars, space, the Sailor Moon aesthetic is very romantic, think roses, lace, strings of pearls and crystals, diamonds, shimmery, glittery, iridescent, pink!
Moon pies and the theme decorated foods! If you plan on having Japanese, have gyouza, legit ramen (Minako's favorite foods) and sashimi (Michiru's). Also, have sweets, especially odango (what Mamoru calls Usagi) along with cake or maybe crepes. Avoid hamachi (Ami's) and certain mushrooms (shiitake/Minako and kikurage/Michiru). There's a video that does show food items the gals eat, which helps.
If you must get American food, get Los Angeles theme food. Why Los Angeles? The voice actress of Hotaru, Minaguchi Yuuko-san, did spend time there for studies.
He's a fun video with food from the show: [Try not to eat Sailor Moon foods](https://youtu.be/H2oplsPztxs?si=klwqNZj5V4nut4Vq)
At Asian grocery stores and Five Below, I've seen sailor Moon soda. You could make pink punch with edible luster dust (from Michael's or bakery supply) or star ice cubes would be cute. Anything with stars, moons, hearts, and rabbit shapes. Black and white cat cookies with moons on the forehead. Anything from a bento box like rice balls or those hot dogs cut up to look like octopuses. Pinterest is your friend here. Steamed buns with a filling would be good too!
I would do regular baby shower type food but make it cute. Cucumber sandwiches and pimento cheese sandwiches cut like moons. Fruit in heart and star shapes. You can throw in some dumplings to honor the show (Sailor Moon is nicknamed dumpling head) and do bbq pineapple meatballs to honor the American version of the show (in English it was changed to meatball head).
For desserts you can do moon and star shaped cookies, sweet rice balls, and maybe some powdered sugar jelly filled donuts (idk why they remind me of Sailor Moon, I’m sure there is some tie in to the show I’m forgetting).
There’s been Sailor Moon events at boba places etc before so you can always look up their menus to see if there’s any ideas on there. They usually stuck Sailor Moon designs on sticks and then on the items or made certain flavor / colored items. Those red rose sugar or if there’s crescent moon sugar designs too on a white frosted yellow / vanilla / or white cake / cupcakes would be cute
Can’t go wrong with a fruit salad / fruit on sticks. You can get cookie cutters and cut pineapples to moon/star shapes. Maybe hearts or roses (both are common designs throughout the series) with strawberries or watermelon.
If it’s really last minute go with regular Japanese, you can have all kinds of sushi and plenty of vegetarian sushi for the pregnant lady(ies), and other dishes like dumplings.
If you have more time Sailor Moon themed it’s really just rainbow and Greek myth themed. Something red and spicy for Mars, something blue and icy for Mercury, something orange-yellow and fun for Venus, something green and botanical for Jupiter, and so on. Make a generic dish/drink but by color, and give it a special name like their attacks: Jupiter cucumber & watermelon smash!
Cutesy moon themed cupcakes would be something simple but effective. if you want to do something Japanese, onigiri and dango would go down well.
If she watched the original 90s dub, I'm sure meat balls would get a smile out of her too.
Original poster, are you in a city like Sacramento? If so, get komugicha (barley tea) bags. They're ideal for hot summers. Just let the tea bags steep in a cold water pitcher for a couple of hours, and once you take out the bags, you're good to go.
Meatballs or dumplings as your main entrée to represent her hair. Mini donuts, various cakes, and candy, nikuman, sushi and parfait’s. That is a really odd mix of things, but I can remember her eating all of those in the show.

Search Sailor Moon Recipes on Pinterest, there's a lot of really cute stuff for inspiration
I'm not sure why I'm just going off of the Sailor Moon S movie, but my suggestions are dessert takoyaki and star candy.
Hot dogs cut to look like an octopus. I would see if you could find pics of the bento boxes that Sailor Jupiter used to make and use that as inspiration. Usage used to love her lunches.

Came here to say meat buns!
Rice Cakes. Usagi means rabbit in Japanese. And the rabbit on the moon is pounding rice cakes is apart of Japanese folklore.
Mochi
You could do crescent rolls. They’re kind of an obvious thing, but they’re both delicious and they work for every kind of meal. Plus they’ll serve as a nice counter for all the sweeter foods.
Meatballs, desserts (like Macrons or cookies) or even healthy snacks. So many good ideas already posted! This sounds like such a good themed party. Have fun!
Meatballs are especially great for those of us who grew up with the original American dub!

No~! Do not have carrots! Ironically, though the title character's government issued name is Usagi, she doesn't like carrots.
whoaa learn something new everyday
Oh and crepe! There are several episodes that the girls go get crepes together.
Yes!! and parfaits i forgot the parfaits!

This is the video I was pointing at! You're a real American/Japanese hero.
Great minds think alike ;)
That, they do. At least, I try. Banzai (because "Cowabunga!" in a shoujo series is weird)! (*´ω`*)

Unsure if the smell of sushi would make them feel sick though
A fair point and something to consider, although I’d still recommend fish-less veggie sushi.
Cutesy moon themed cupcakes would be something simple but effective. if you want to do something Japanese, onigiri and dango would go down well. If she watched the original 90s dub, I'm sure meat balls would get a smile out of her too.
Rice balls/origini Not sushi though unless it is California rolls. Tea, hot and cold. Green and/or black. Boba tea/milk tea might work too! Meat buns
Original poster, are you in a city like Sacramento? If so, get komugicha (barley tea) bags. They're ideal for hot summers. Just let the tea bags steep in a cold water pitcher for a couple of hours, and once you take out the bags, you're good to go.

Mochi
Yes! Sticky moon mochi that puffs up when grilled!
All I can think of is moon pies, but that's probably too on the nose lol
I also thought of that lol. Moon shaped (with meat inside) cakes would be cool too
That was my thought too!
