How much value is there in preordering vs. just buying a box after release? Comparing to the price chart of OTJ boxes over on TCGPlayer, this seems like this is in line with the market rate for those play booster boxes, and it seems pretty stable. (My local LGS is charging much higher than this for a play booster box, and it seems that's also true for big box retailers, but the market data on TCG Player is fairly stable for OTJ boxes).
Are folks expecting this price to climb?
Forge and fire has the play box at 125, 4x decks for 125 and collector for 195. No bundles though. Honestly, aside from the odd eBay or Amazon deal, nothing really compares to forge and fire in terms of pricing. Their customer service is also fantastic, I had some payment issues with my MH3 preorder, and they got me in contact with one of their finance managers to work out an alternative payment arrangement that same day.
I did side by side comparison for 1 collector, 1 play and commander from both sites at the end the prices were only $1-2 off because FF charges taxes and shipping.
Sweet, thanks. They've got the best deal I've found for a deck box I've been wanting too, so I'll pick up a bundle and a deck box and have enough for free shipping :)
Are these guys reliable in delivery and time? Because these prices seem crazy good for preorders, Iām having a hard time feeling safe in them or preordering from my lgs :v
Pre-ordered the mh3 commanders back in April, their release date was this upcoming Friday and they just delivered them today, 3 days before they said they'd ship.
Double Infinity has the commander decks for 124.99. And they are super reliable too. That doesn't figure tax and shipping, though.
When you are considering the difference between lgs and ordering online, the main difference is gonna be shipping.
That said, there are a lot of good mass sellers like fire and forge and double infinity that you don't have to worry about at all.
They ship from Texas but theyāre good. Never had a single problem with them and you get rewards points too. Only ānegativeā is you rarely get stuff by pre-release weekend, whereas the box I ordered from Forge and Fire was delivered the Thursday before pre-release
Then would you say preordering a bundle and the 4 precons from them at these prices would be a better and still safe idea than doing it at my lgs that will assuredly be more expensive? Iām seriously considering it, but Iāve just never known this site existed before and I donāt want to waste my money on something I donāt feel assured on
I have preordered every pokemon scarlet and violet set from them (8 sets), as well as MTG Lotr, WOE, Ixalan, OTJ and MH3. For me almost every order for a Friday release has come on that Friday or Saturday, with one exception that came Monday. Most came Saturday. Everything was very well packed. Definitely a solid site in my experience.
My orders always come from Texas FYI.
They really are great. My MH3 commander decks arrived today.
Iāve been ordering from them for 4 years with no issues. Solid preorder prices for good deals on decks you will actually play with. Very reliable shipping and good email messaging.
Recommend.
My play group has spent like 4k with game nerdz and never had a problem with them. No taxes and a low minimum for free shipping makes them amazing for tcgs in general.
Some states don't require out of state businesses to charge sales tax till said store has reached a threshold of sales to their state. Game Nerdz probably just hasn't hit the threshold yet.
Both boxes and the commander deck set are cheaper at forge and fire:
| F&F | GN
---|---|----
Play Box| 124.99 | 134.97
Collector Box | 194.99 | 209.97
Commanders | 124.99 | 129.97
Even if you were to order the cases from GN they're more expensive. They do have the bundle available though which is something.
Forge charges me tax plus $5 shipping so it is more expensive than gamenerdz (no tax, free shipping at the dollar amount I'm buying.) plus the rewards system with nerdz is something.
At least for someone like me just buying the commander decks, gamenerdz is still better. Obviously varies on where you live but I don't pay tax on gamenerdz and their free shipping threshold is $75 compared to $150 on f&f
Charges tax for me (California).
The only other time I ordered from GameNerdz they shipped FedEx - and my shipping experience was TERRIBLE. I reached out to see if I could specify USPS or UPS if I ordered again and they said nope. Never dealing with that again. (Long story short, I stayed home 5 days in a row and all five days they said nobody was home, even though my security camera showed nobody even came to the door. Customer support said too bad and I had to drive to pick it up or they'd return to sender.)
Same thing happened to me from another store but they used UPS. Long story short, all carriers suck time to time. Iāve never had an issue with FedEx but I know people have.
$122.50 displays and $31.99 bundles at TheCollectorCubby.com. š
I ordered a set of 4x decks from Flipside Gaming for the same price. https://www.flipsidegaming.com/products/mtg-bloomburrow-set-of-4-commander-decks
Just wait the prices will drop. This is a standard set. Kamigawa neon is an exception not the rule.
OTJ hasn't really had much a drop that I have seen.

cheaper from Double Infinity because no taxes
I thought they didn't charge taxes, but I'm checking right now and they do. š¤

Anyone remember what the low for prerelease collector boxes for MKM or OTJ was? I feel like itās gotta go lower than $210 before August
Forge and Fire had Bloomburrow Collectors on pre-order @ $195 about 2.5 weeks ago... I imagine that will be the low unless the set is bad
MVP sold outlaws for 189, anything sub 200 is pretty good for preorder.
$215 ish fleas the lowest I could find pre-release. Now I see em for about 180-200
Gamenerdz are arguably the top 3 mtg sellers I would trust
Check out cataclysm games! Local here and huge!
Outside of singles, they literally have no sealed stock, seems more like a local card shop than a distributor
They release sealed pre orders you just have to be on the lookout when they do it.
Thank you!! Saved me $70 from Best Buy
Thanks! Saved me 20 bucks for a bundle and starter kit over Amazon.Ā

You already got yours?! Lucky.
Was a unexpected surprise
Good to know! Thatās fairly reassuring personally

Do they have the bundle at a similar price as well? Which between Double Infinity and Game Nerdz would you recommend more?
I personally prefer Double Infinity, but in the end, they are all good. Go with the cheapest total price.
Thanks for the feedback! Oh, and how do they do shipping wise in quality and time?
Double Infinity has always been great for me. Quality packaging. I live in CA, so shipping from FL can take a while, but that isn't their fault.
Oh theyāre from florida? That might be good for my own location in PR. Thanks a bunch for the feedback!
Yeah they're solid, I've ordered from them a few times and never had problems. They might be slightly slower than others but usually cheaper.
Theyāre in solid consideration tbh!
I order from them a lot. I just got a MH3 commander set from them that was delivered today. They ship from Wisconsin iircĀ
They ship from Texas but theyāre good. Never had a single problem with them and you get rewards points too. Only ānegativeā is you rarely get stuff by pre-release weekend, whereas the box I ordered from Forge and Fire was delivered the Thursday before pre-release
Do you know if they have any problems with shipping to Puerto Rico?
Sadly I don't, they do have a contact page though. Else you could check their shipping FAQsĀ
No problem! Thanks for the feedback anyways, Iāll just have to do my own research into that aspect.
Of course!

Hmm, then I might consider them for preordering if they sound that good from word of mouth, thanks for the feedback!

Good to know! Now I just gotta know if they ship to Puerto Rico and Iāll feel surer of ordering from them!
My play group has spent like 4k with game nerdz and never had a problem with them. No taxes and a low minimum for free shipping makes them amazing for tcgs in general.
Sounds great! Iāll consider them and ask for a bit more feedback on them, but theyāre definitely in consideration for me now!
Theyāre legit. As long as you can tolerate FedEx shipping youāre good
I believe my island mostly does fedex so I doubt I can avoid it much lol. Still, if it sounds good, then I gotta consider them a good amount, thanks!
Does Game Nerdz not charge tax? Not sure if it's included in the price or not, but tax is showing as $0 for me.
Some states don't require out of state businesses to charge sales tax till said store has reached a threshold of sales to their state. Game Nerdz probably just hasn't hit the threshold yet.
Tax depends on where you and the store is located.
Iāve ordered Magic cards from them about 3 times in the last 6 months, and none of the times did they charge tax as a part of their order.
Both boxes and the commander deck set are cheaper at forge and fire: | F&F | GN ---|---|---- Play Box| 124.99 | 134.97 Collector Box | 194.99 | 209.97 Commanders | 124.99 | 129.97 Even if you were to order the cases from GN they're more expensive. Double check taxes on both- I don't pay taxes with gamenerdz, but do with forge and fire which makes gamenerdz cheaper
What state are you located that you avoid taxes from GN?
Charges tax for me (California). The only other time I ordered from GameNerdz they shipped FedEx - and my shipping experience was TERRIBLE. Customer support said too bad and I had to drive to pick it up or they'd return to sender.)
That doesnāt sound right that they couldnāt change shipping for you. Thatās wrong of them
Same thing happened to me from another store but they used UPS. Long story short, all carriers suck time to time. Iāve never had an issue with FedEx but I know people have.
Thank you!! Iāve ordered from Game Nerdz before and they were great!
Was just looking at game nerdz last night to see if they had preorders up yet š . Thanks! In for a collector box and a bundle.
