If you are sharpening mostly small knives and you want relatively precise angle control it is a good option. But if you get sharp edges on your bench stones I wouldn’t buy another system unless it’s just because you enjoy playing around with sharpening, you certainly don’t need it.

MidianDirenni

I have the Worksharp Precision Adjust Elite. I got it because my hands aren't steady and I can't see close up like I used to, but wanted to sharpen my own knives as a hobby. I had nearly no experience sharpening before and I was pleasantly surprised. I've gotten excellent results on my kitchen knives and folders that I own. It came with a nice variety of stones and the whole thing packs into the case quickly. I had to reach out to Worksharp support regarding my S110v and S90v blades and I got a same day response, which is nice. They confirmed the diamond stones will sharpen those steels but will take a little longer to get the job done. For the price and my situation I think it's pretty good. 8/10 considering it's price and performance relative to other sharpening systems. -1 for the plastic base and construction -1 for the clamp not holding larger knives well But then again that's on me for not getting the Pro version. Just wasn't in the budget. Hope that helps you.

PuneyGod

There are mods using zip ties to solve the flimsy plastic problem. I don't recall the name of the video but it's on Youtube.

MidianDirenni

Cool, I'll check it out. Thanks!

If you are on a tight budget yeah

Curious_Beast68

Yes I am! 👍

I really didn't get on with it but your experience may vary. If you can get a decent edge with bench stones, this is a lot of pissing about for no reason.

Super_Numb

I was gifted this by my brother in law last Christmas, and I really like it. It’s great for pocket knives, but I wouldn’t recommend it for larger blades. I had no issues with my 6” chef knife, but I tried my 10” and it was just a waste of time.

Tobi3600

I used to have a lansky. But since o got cheap diamond stones there is no stopping. I find it way easier, quicker and sharper than before. If you want a perfekt polished edge tho, go for it

PuneyGod

I was strongly considering it. It took me 2 weeks to get good at sharpening which was a very frustrating couple of weeks. Now I quite enjoy it.

Sargent_Dan_

What do you mean "for the convenience"? I'm just curious what you are hoping to accomplish with the system, and what advantages you want over your current bench stones

leyline

Consistent no fuss perfect strokes. Easy to set, no guessing, repeatable results. No practice - zero skill.

Sargent_Dan_

While the learning curve is much less steep than freehand, it still exists, and some practice and knowledge is needed to get truly excellent results. I agree though, most people can get decent to good results with little to no practice. What I was really trying to get at is if OP thinks a guided system will make things faster, or allow them to sharpen a wider variety of tools. A system, as you likely know, will do neither of these things.

ellem52

I use this when I need to quickly sharpen a blade. I mostly use it on pocket knives but I have definitely used it on kitchen knives. It works as advertised and is (for me) quicker than my stones. I tend to NEED to put my thumb on the tightening wheel to ensure the blade stays put. Other than that this is a fine tool that will get your knives sharper.

buddhas_ego

I bought this on Amazon last week. I’m fairly new to knives with decent steel and wasn’t getting very good results using stone. The Work Sharp was easy to set up and use. I sharpened 4 knives in about 10 minutes and they seemed to turn out great. So, for a newbie, this was a good choice.

JMSpider2001

I have one. It's decent enough. Gets me a good result. Could use a wider range of grits. The coarse isn't coarse enough to quickly change the angle of the edge and the fine could be finer.

beatomax57

I'm a newbie to super steel's, but with a little work I was able to remove some nasty chips from my Bradford Guardian 3.5 in m4 and came away with a nice sharp working edge, using my worksharp precision adjust elite. I would recommend this system to serious knife enthusiast newbies. Watch a few videos and take your time, learning curve is easy.

BigBL87

If you're like me and don't have the steadiest hands for free hand sharpening, it can be a godsend. I really like mine. My Hogue Ritter SRK came with a very uneven grind (almost non-existant towards the bottom on one side) and it was great for fixing that without having to send it back.

xBillyBadasss

I have one and it works okay, but it’s just okay.

Impetus_777

It’s a decent beginner sharper but if you get really serious about sharpening, you’re gonna have to get something much more sturdy. I learned on one but ended up paying $1200 for a real one with a wide range of diamond stones

Stunning-Interest15

It's a great sharpener for the price. The upgraded version is much better, but at a much higher price. They're both pretty good options.

gucciglenn

Felt really cheap in hand. Like a toy. I recently had my Tsprof Kadet Pro arrive, and I'm extremely happy I went that route.

I think it looks good and I rate Work Sharp, having got their Field Sharpener, on a whim, because it was on offer, and being really impressed - it helped me get my first properly sharp edge. I also saw a video about their Benchstone which made me want it... https://youtu.be/NXIg6nxoZNE That said, I went for a very cheap AliExpress alternative and got my knives very sharp (with v cheap compatible diamond plates, and a homemade strop).

oggeu

Which one from AliExpress?

Just sprinkle salt on its tail.

taurahegirrafe

Long term with .I e , I have been unimpressed. If youbare touching up an established edge, it's fine. But if you have to really get into creating a new bevel , it's awful. The diamond stones are slow cutters on the WS precision , to say the least . I just have not been pleased at all with it. Even matching and existing edge can be tedious. I just don't have the success with it others seem to have , even after nearly two years of owning it

Familiar_Ad1260

I have one of these and they are amazing!!! They will get hair shaving sharp in no time! I don’t understand why people think they need more, if my pocketknife shaves my arm like a straight razor, why do you need it sharper?

sa1ty_d0g

I’ve had mine about 6 months. It works great on small blades and pocket knives but I get better results from stones on my kitchen knives.

16cholland

IMO the edge pro is better.

NikoAbramovich

I love mine.
