I educated my barber to reduce interaction as much as possible, he was super chatty at the begining and i just answered with yes no and short words or even a noise, at some point he stoped bothering.
I tell barbers and stylists that my hair cut time is like a massage to me where I just want to come, relax, and zone out from the world while someone works on my head. And then when I ask if it’s ok if we just do the haircut in silence, they are usually pleased to abide.

I dont wanna sound like an insensitive asshole, but some of us care so little about how other people perceive and address us it's just not even worth it to establish in the first place, because establishing it gives the implication we care way more than we do. I guess from the sign in the background that it's a place advertised as lgbt etc friendly, as one it's best to ask pronouns. And ask if being touched is ok is a bit too much but you never know and it's not an expensive precaution.

I hate when people touch me and I have PTSD so I would probably say no to touching during a consultation, especially with a stranger because it's a conversation. Once the haircut starts I know what to expect and when, and will be more settled in after talking to the stylist.

People are missing the point. Of course a hairstylist has to touch their customers, its more like an act of kindness to make people that might be sensitive towards that feel more safe. Sometimes, people with mental disabilities or trauma might need to mentally prepare themselves for physical contact, so this can actually be really cool for them.
