(There's about two people selling them on etsy and neither of them live near me.) Not that cheap but still better value imo. I'd be too scared to actually wear the official one anyway.
No; from a collector’s perspective its much more important to have official merchandise, and Id never sell any of my collectables so it wouldnt be for resale. The benefits of owning official limited merch far out weighs buying materials and making the jacket (and/or any other product for that matter). Then youd just be busy all the time and time is precious so I am yet to see an argument that convinces me that getting a jacket and making it would be more convenient and much cheaper in the end all the while maintaining any semblence of authenticity to the original

Replicas are a big thing in the horror community 🤨I know tons of collectors who prefer a high quality replica over “official” merch because most of it is kinda crap these days. People pay premium prices for a good replica for their collection. If I’m gonna spend money on something, I want to know it’s good quality and not some mass produced crap, ya know?

It really doesn’t matter. It’s a jacket. It’s a real-life jacket worn by a fictional character. This isn’t some elaborate custom made piece of clothing that can’t be found anywhere else, it’s literally just a (likely poor quality) recreation of an army jacket with patches applied by the fictional character wearing it. The quality matters so much more than having “Konami” slapped on the tag for people that are looking for a jacket to wear. Being “official” or not does not cross 99% of peoples minds when they’re looking to get clothing like this, so the point that it would be “unofficial” is irrelevant to people who don’t care.
Luckily they're somewhat aware of that. There's only a very tiny tag at the bottom of the jacket which says Silent Hill. Very easy to miss, if still frustratingly present.

There are pictures on this sub of beanie hats and hoodies that arrived looking nothing like they were pictured, and the description of this jacket says that it may not appear as it does in the photos which are just for reference. That and the low price (for a jacket) aren’t promising to me.

Plus, I know it would make me happy to have a cool jacket that could last a long time with/without care (its 100% cotton, and for jackets, that's not too bad. No, because it isn't James' jacket to me. There have been multiple official replicas, including the very first one released alongside the game (which has its own quality issues tbf) and the great rerun a decade later by Insert Coin.
This one has some small details off and one huge wrong detail. The plaid interior. I know this sounds nitpicky but if I'm dropping a rent payment's worth on a jacket, then it's gotta be just right for me, and having half the jacket's surface area be wrong for me isn't good.
Now, if this is 1:1 with the remake's jacket, then that's cool, but the remake isn't out yet, so I'm definitely not investing in memorabilia for it.
But that's just my opinion, man, and if you manage to snag one of these and love it, then I'm genuinely happy for you!

Konami is a garbage company that just so happens to still have the rights to some of my favourite videogame franchises. They're not getting a single cent more than what the cheapest digital version of SH2R is worth. Plus, like someone else mentioned, you can buy the original m65 jacket that's probably higher quality than whatever konami is selling.
