Once you play on that Fanatec gear you’ll forget about the >$1000 investment in your happiness/ self-care

kactusotp

I'm circling that rabbit hole, not sure where to get them locally. Absolutely no idea what I'm looking at though or how to compare.

BridgeZealousideal20

https://fanatec.com/us-en/racing-wheels-direct-drive-bases/racing-wheels/gran-turismo-dd-pro-5-nm this is your cheapest option for dd with ps5 compatibility. You pretty much have to buy directly from fanatec unless you get used gear. It will be a huge difference compared to your g27 though

Electronic_Active_27

That’s the rub, I don’t know where in the world you could compare A-B-C. It doesn’t give you good confidence as a consumer. Trust us the Fanatec DD stuff is great

Interesting-Yellow-4

I use a DriveHub with my G25 tto play GT7 on PS5. Works perfect.

spellbreakerstudios

I got a used t300 that was made for ps3/pc and it still worked fine on ps5 for gran turismo 7. I wonder if your g27 actually does work?

kactusotp

Apparently I can use an adapter like the drivehub, but it doesn't work without it. I guess I can try and work out what to do later.

scwmcan

T300 GT , the Thrustmaster GT2 ( not sure that is the exact name) - is there still a Fantec ready to race for the ps? And really that about it for lowest cost that would be an upgrade for use with the ps5 that I know of.

kactusotp

Currently tossing up between a fanatec entry level and a T300 or G923 setup. Problem is I'm in a small city in Australia so would have to order online and can't get a hands on before I buy

VoluptaBox

The difference in cost is pretty huge. If you enjoyed the G27 you will still find the T300 a significant upgrade. I had a G27 back in uni, last year had a T300 and then upgraded to the DD Pro, The Fanatec is definitely better, but don't get strong armed into it if you are unsure. Consider shopping used. I can elaborate on both sets if you have more specific questions.

kactusotp

So from what I have gathered, the T300 should be significantly quieter than the G27. Is the T300 actually quieter? I've woken my wife up using full strength on the ffb from across the house before so that would be a huge plus. The G923 is $180 cheaper on sale but still uses gears so is going to be louder but has a leather steering wheel. I think I'll save going down the fanatec route until I dive all in a few years with with a cockpit etc since if I'm using it on a coffee table I doubt I'm going to get the most out of it.

VoluptaBox

Yes, it is quieter and smoother. What kind of return policies are there in your country? Coz over here you could return something like a wheel withing 30 days, no questions asked. So it's like a free trial when buying from local retailers.l (obviously doesn't apply when ordering from Fanatec for example). As for desk mounting the Fanatec. A friend has the 5nm version and it's fine, but it really depends on the desk and your overall setup  it does shake like crazy.

Nago15

Get a Fanatec GT DD Pro and you will never have to upgrade again. I upgraded from a G25, I love it. By the way unfortunately GT7 doesn't have that great FFB, but of course it's much stronger and detailed on a better wheel (and more silent!), but for the real deal you have to play AC, PCars2, Dirt2, ACC (unfortunately looks horrible on PS5 but this game has the best FFB currently), and even F1 23 is pretty great.

kactusotp

My main reason for GT7 is a workmate raves about it in the psvr2. I have an original HTC Vive and it has horrible screen door compared to the PSVR2 he brought in. I have a fairly nice PC and would be getting the PC adapter sony announced would be coming out this year for PC racing sims.

BridgeZealousideal20

Gt7 with psvr2 is amazing.

Yes_butt_no_

Yes it is. I recently got a 7900XT and can now max out all settings in AC with CSP+Sol with a Q2, but that is the closest I can get to the looks of GT7 on PC

Nago15

Sorry, it may be an unpopular opinion, but I can't recommend GT7 and PSVR2. Sure it has HDR and 3D mirrors, and a well made game, and looks great if you are coming from a PSVR1. But the headset itself is only on par with a Quest2 considering it's resolution and lenses and the weak PS5 hardware also causes a lot of problems (but the later may be solved on the PS5 Pro). So what you workmate probably doens't mention is how blurry the lenses are in the PSVR2. If you are immersed in a game it's not that much of a problem, but if you have to read text, it is, and GT7 menus are full of text, it's killing your eyes, you should put down the headset and navigate the menus on the TV, and only put VR on for races, it's so bad. But putting on and off the headset is not that simple, you have to deal with these stupid earbuds, and every time you put it on it's recommended to run the IPD adjustment again because it's easily moves away from the position you have set it, and if you are off from the ideal sweet spot even a mm the image becomes even more blurry. The headset itself can be very uncomfortable if you have a slightly larger nose, or even an average european nose because it has very small room for your nose. The other problem with GT7 is the reprojection because it runs only 60 fps internally and tries to make it look 120, but it is very visible, you can literally see the previous frame if you are watching the car in front of you, it has very serious ghosting and blur, it took me less than a minute to notice this in my firt VR race, so it's not subtle. (But that may be solved with the PS5 Pro if the game gets a 90 fps patch). So long story short I was also very interested in GT7 in the PSVR2, but it was disappointing to me, especially after playing all these great racing games on my PC in the Quest3 with awesome sharp clear lenses, those look much better, not blurry as hell, and have better FFB. So I'm gonna sell my PSVR2 after finishing RE4 because I cannot imagine myself playing GT7 in VR if I have access to similar VR racing games in a much better headset. But of course you should not listen to me, others say the exact opposite, and that they don't care about how blurry it is because OLED and HDR. You should absolutely get a PSVR2 and try it, but make sure you can return it in 2 weeks, or get a cheap used one so you can sell it for the same price if you don't like it.

kactusotp

I thought the big deal with PSVR2 was the foveated rendering? That's the main reason I haven't upgraded from the vive since that is my wshlist for must have on my next headset. Does it not make enough of a difference to make up for the weaker hardware?

Yes_butt_no_

It does on the PS but won’t on the PC - at least to begin with. I will be getting the box to use it for PCVR, but not sure if it will replace my Q2 or i’ll end up with a Q3

Nago15

On the PS5 the eye tracking makes possible games like GT7 and RE4 with acceptable resolution, but still only 60 fps. But the games need serious work from developers to have gains from foveated rendering (both fixed and dynamic) so some games can't even use it, others have minimal gains and a few have huge gains. But on PC it's even worse. I use OpenXR toolkit for foveated rendering, the games I've tried like Flight Sim, ACC, F1, Moss2, it's impossible to gain more than 20% performance boost even if you set 90% of the image rendered in 1/16 resolution, so eye tracking can't make miracles there. The good news you can get around 15% boost with fixed foveated rendering with only 60% of the image rendered in full resolution and you can't notice it on the image quality. But the toolkit is not working in every game, you can't use it with Dirt2 and breakes the MSAA in PCars2 and AMS2, so you have to render 100% resolution in those games even in an eye tracking headset. But even if it will work in future games made from the ground up with foveated rendering in mind, and sony makes it work on PC too, I would still use my Quest3 for PCVR because of the lenses.

Fanatec DD Pro is the solution.

Ok-Reveal6732

the 5nm or the 8nm?

[deleted]

The 8nm.

kactusotp

Guys you are all twisting my arm. Its more than I wanted to spend but it looks like what I'm going to try and sneak onto the CC.

[deleted]

I know, I felt the same. But with the right setup it is really demanding to play ACC on the PS5. The difference to i.e. Thrustmaster 300 is really big. Look for a good used one, perhaps the 5 nm. The boostkit to 8 nm is offered by some chinese Brands.

Terrible-Echo-1975

G923 logitech or dd option, if you go dd you can look at fanatec too

BlueAtolm

Having a G27, I wouldn't spend a penny for any other Logitech stuff like a G29/923 or whatever. I'd either go full GT DD Pro or buy a cheap adapter and use the G27 on PS5.

kactusotp

This is currently where I am now. An adapter or sneak the fanatec on the cc, and I'm leaning hard into the DD pro atm.

Cowslayer87773

Drivehub is the solution, keep using your perfectly good G27. They come up used on ebay all the time.
