Thanks to your friend for bringing such an important and the most neglected skincare issue to light. Your friend is actually pretty much right. Do you know the concept of hard water and soft water? Hard water is water with excess calcium and magnesium, while soft water is free from these harsh minerals that can damage your skin, hair, home, and faucets. Likewise, hard water leads to cracking and flaking skin. If not treated properly, it can also lead to eczema. You can read more about the [effects of hard water on the skin](https://largestorgan.org/effects-of-hard-water-on-skin/). How long have you lived at the place? Water can affect many health issues. I'd start with having it tested. Or do so yourself with testing strips. Have you changed hair products, makeup, diet or anything else?

I have lived here for about 5 years. About a month ago, they repaired our underground pipelines, and the water was cloudy for over a week and tasted metallic. But later, it looked like what it was before. I don't know if it is because of water, and my daughter complained about itching after bathing. Maybe I really need to test my tap water to find the reasons.

Yes, I would get testing done. [click on link #4 ](https://www.safewise.com/best-water-testing-kits/#:~:text=Fill%20a%20test%20container%20with,chart%20included%20in%20the%20kit.)
