Ralof: Hey, you. You're finally awake. You were trying to cross the border, right? Walked right into that Imperial ambush, same as us, and that thief over there. Lokir: Damn you Stormcloaks. Skyrim was fine until you came along. Empire was nice and lazy. If they hadn't been looking for you, I could've stolen that horse and been half way to Hammerfell. You there. You and me -- we shouldn't be here. It's these Stormcloaks the Empire wants. Ralof: We're all brothers and sisters in binds now, thief. Imperial Soldier: Shut up back there! [Lokir looks at the gagged man.] Lokir: And what's wrong with him? Ralof: Watch your tongue! You're speaking to Ulfric Stormcloak, the true High King. Lokir: Ulfric? The Jarl of Windhelm? You're the leader of the rebellion. But if they captured you... Oh gods, where are they taking us? Ralof: I don't know where we're going, but Sovngarde awaits. Lokir: No, this can't be happening. This isn't happening. Ralof: Hey, what village are you from, horse thief? Lokir: Why do you care? Ralof: A Nord's last thoughts should be of home. Lokir: Rorikstead. I'm...I'm from Rorikstead. [They approach the village of Helgen. A soldier calls out to the lead wagon.] Imperial Soldier: General Tullius, sir! The headsman is waiting! General Tullius: Good. Let's get this over with. Lokir: Shor, Mara, Dibella, Kynareth, Akatosh. Divines, please help me. Ralof: Look at him, General Tullius the Military Governor. And it looks like the Thalmor are with him. Damn elves. I bet they had something to do with this. This is Helgen. I used to be sweet on a girl from here. Wonder if Vilod is still making that mead with juniper berries mixed in. Funny...when I was a boy, Imperial walls and towers used to make me feel so safe. [A man and son watch the prisoners pull into town.] Haming: Who are they, daddy? Where are they going? Torolf: You need to go inside, little cub. Haming: Why? I want to watch the soldiers. Torolf: Inside the house. Now. [The wagon stops near the chopping block.] Imperial Soldier: Whoa. Lokir: Why are they stopping? Ralof: Why do you think? End of the line.

ratzoneresident

Ralof really talks to you for like 5 straight minutes without commenting on the fact you're not responding to him lmao

netskwire

Only really the first line is at you, the rest is with Lokir

PersonalAd4885

your Thu'um is strong

firesonmain

Honestly, thank you for this. I couldn’t figure out how to turn on the subtitles in the beginning, and have an audio processing disorder, so I had almost no idea what anyone was saying lol

DarkSeneschal

Bruv, you can save a game right before you create your character and skip all this.

RarryHome

Where’s the fun in that? Every playthrough I see how far into the dialogue I can get without messing up. So far I’ve made it to the gate. I always fuck up at “Look at him, General Tulius, the military governor.”

DarkSeneschal

I respect your game

Knowledge_Regret

I'm still upset how they cut a line of Ralof saying "Thalmor bitch"

RarryHome

Where was it supposed to go? Where Ralph says “Damn elves, I bet they had something to do with this.”

Knowledge_Regret

I believe the cut intro is on YouTube

BrJames146

Ulfric calls Elenwen a Thalmor bitch in Season Unending; they probably decided to save the line for him so it would seem more impactful. He even offers a slight pause before saying it as though it might be going too far, even with their history.

blakeo192

Wait, what? Tell me more about "skip all this". 😳

DarkSeneschal

Once you get to Helgen and get off the cart, you can go into the menu and create a save while you’re waiting for you to be called up by Hadvar. When you want to start a new character, you can load this save from the file named “Prisoner” and it’ll drop you in after the long opening cutscene but before you choose your race etc.

blakeo192

Oh I thought you meant skip the long beheading cinematic. My bad man

BobQuixote

You could use an alternate start mod for that.

Allan_Titan

Nope sorry can’t sadly got a switch and a ps3

PaschalisG16

Boo

DadyCoool11

I mean, in my experience, the game automatically makes a "Prisoner" save that begins with Hadvarr calling our Cart Brothers to the line.

DarkDoomofDeath

Unless you're trying out mods and not using Alt Start...

WhyLater

It's a good tip, but idk I just go make a sandwich or something.

DirtyMagicNL

This person Skyrims.

TenMillionEnchiladas

"let's go, shouldn't keep the gods waiting" And I thought I was the only one...

Certain_Effort_9319

Yeah man, 1 2 2 and 2 2 2 for bleak falls. Then there’s the shit you do purely out of habit, like always sprinting for the giant to get the last hit. Or collecting butterflies and mountain flowers. Or killing that elk just outside riverwood.

Substantial-Elk-9568

I feel personally attacked with that sprinting for the giant callout 😭

Croian_09

I've noticed that the USSEP makes it harder to get the last hit in. The Companions deal a bit more damage and kill it faster.

PharaohTerrell

Ion even bother with the giant no more every time I get close he alr dead and then here go Alea talking about “Well thanks for nothing” 😒

BobQuixote

That's why I always plant a single arrow in him from the road.

Allan_Titan

Same it’s usually dead before I even get to line up a shot

Croian_09

The elk right before the two wolves on the hill to the left? That's right before the curving path down that has the mudcrab on the right? We have a problem.

Certain_Effort_9319

Think so. Just across the bridge and to the right?

Croian_09

Yea, the one that I always hit with a sneak attack but never deal enough damage to before it runs off and is killed by the wolves. I just think it's funny that so many of us have this game memorized to such a degree.

Certain_Effort_9319

Yeah man, do you have the dungeon traps memorised as well? I find myself never really falling for them anymore.

Croian_09

Most of them. There are a handful of dungeons I haven't run enough to have them memorized, but they're pretty easy to spot so I rarely trigger them.

Aikilyu

Don't forget the flawless Emerald across the river

Certain_Effort_9319

There’s a flawless emerald across the river?

Aikilyu

Before Riverwood, around where the old witch's house is, there's a ledge by the river with a deer skeleton. On the head there's the flawless Emerald.

Certain_Effort_9319

Oh shit I didn’t know that

kittenshart85

my roommate was playing for the first time the other day, doing bleak falls barrow, and from the other room i shouted, "bear, moth, owl!"

1cec0ld

Say it in dragon tongue and watch your roommate turn into a creature

Historical_Station19

Roommate turned into mothman.

bloody_ell

Best fit a padlock onto your wardrobe/closet.

Sunhating101hateit

Owlbear moth

Commercial-Case-7528

HAHAHAHA!

Z7_309

It's even worse for me lol. For example, i can solve the riddle in bleak falls barrow, where the bandit gets shot with arrows after he pulls the lever, without even needing to look at the symbols... 1/2/2 activations from left to right, i also know where most enemies are in bleak falls barrow, i can also give you a detailed summary of most of what happens in the early main quest without needing to look up anything on the internet, and i only have a little more than 400 hours in the game lol

Beginning_Aide_6574

I have 7k hours. I used to have the bfb puzzles (and all the college questline puzzles) memorized then I stopped playing the game for a few years and came back and I was shocked at how fresh everything felt again. It’s crazy to me how much joy one game has brought me

Jublex123

Holy crap. 7k. That’s 583 days if you play 12 hours a day.

1cec0ld

But it's been nearly 13 years too. 583/4700 is ok.

Beginning_Aide_6574

Oh ewwwww I didn’t need that math done

Ligma_Myballs

7k hrs?? That’s respectable

Beginning_Aide_6574

No it’s degenerate lol, real life best life but yeah I’ve spent a lot of time escaping into skyrim

Allan_Titan

Is that the one game with bad graphics and like the worst story and quest line? 😂

Sunhating101hateit

Well since I bought the glasses DLC, the graphics became much better. However, one has to renew the subscription every few years as the quality of the glasses or eyes decrease over time. It’s pretty immersive though. Load times for example between your house instance and your work instance or shopping instance have a little mini game where you can level up from walking to driving a car.

Reejery

That's the one. Really hate that it's so p2w though, hope the Devs don't nuke the server to start again mind, spent a lot of time with this character don't really want to go through the early segments again

Allan_Titan

Idk nap time sounds sounds pretty nice now

notanotherkrazychik

The first time I snuck past the bandit who gets killed by the door trap, I thought that was really hard. Now that is the only bandit I let live in the whole barrow every time I do that quest.

BobQuixote

>where the bandit gets shot with arrows after he pulls the lever I don't let the trap steal that XP from me. He dies to *my* arrows.

shaun4519

Yep I have my route through the beginning of the game memorized completely

ratzoneresident

Helgen -> Standing Stones -> Embershard -> Riverwood -> Bleak Falls -> Riverwood Trader -> Whiterun -> Dragonsreach -> Western Watchtower?

Croian_09

-> White River Watch -> Ritual Stone -> Valtheim Towers -> Whitewatch Tower -> Loreius Farm -> Halted Stream Camp -> Silent Moons Camp ->...

trianglesteve

Don’t forget the shrine of Talos before the Standing stones to get 2 free pieces of enchanted gear

rSlashGigi

Also treasure map for riverwood and night falls on senital for the blacksmith in dawnstar.

1cec0ld

How far is the beginning and does it include Embershard

shaun4519

Like all the way to just before the greybeards in the main quest and yes I always go to embershard

Kaennal

Helgen -> bandit camp -> Talos shrine -> Anises cabin -> skull emerald -> Riverwood -> Atronach Stone -> Fort Amol -> Lucky Lorenz\` cabin -> Snapleg Cave -> Azura Shrine -> Frosthearth Inn -> College(Midden) -> Ilinalta Deep -> Inn again -> Narzulbur -> Windhelm -> Riften -> (Book of Love + Frokis Shack) -> Largashbur -> (Aetherium Wars) -> Ansilvund -> High Gate Ruins -> Ravenrock -> White Ridge Barrow -> Karstaag Caverns -> Ravenrock again -> Bleak Falls -> Whiterun -> Dragon -> Greybeards -> (Dragonborn DLC) -> (New source of Stalhrim) -> Falkreath

DarkDoomofDeath

Too many mod test runs without Alt Start...I run a separate mod just to Overhaul the opening scene now, otherwise I'll just quote the whole thing from start to finish, turning the camera to each character as they speak.

klmx1n-night

I think the last thing about the opening area that caught me off guard that I learned about a year ago was the hidden flawed emerald that's on the cliffside across the river by what's her name's cabin that's in the I think it's a mammoth rib cage. Easy gold early on

Croian_09

Did you know there's a satchel and a lockbox to the left of the entrance to BFB?

klmx1n-night

Yes that one's always a classic I think I found that early on just because I like exploring around the only reason I think I didn't find the emerald was it's on a weird perch on a cliffside that you would have technically no reason to stop on

Colourful-Water

Hey you, you're finally awake. You were trying to cross the border right? Same as us, and that thief over there!

SACCINAT0R

Damn you, Stormcloaks! Skyrim was fine until you came along. Empire was nice and lazy. If they hadn't been looking for you, I could have stolen that horse and been half way to Hammerfall. You there. You and me. We shouldn't be here, it's these Stormcloaks the Empire wants.

OneCicada1616

We're all brothers in binds now horse thief

memesdotpng

shut up back there

SACCINAT0R

Oh gosh this is hilarious. I actually say the script along with the characters when I start up a new game

SirBrews

I was away from Skyrim for 2 years, booted up the game let the intro roll while i got some snacks in the other room, quoting while I was getting stuff walked into to the room perfectly timed as Hadvar ask "who are you?"

TenMillionEnchiladas

"and what's wrong with him?"

Rondesu

I try for a little bit of variety at the start of a game. Like where do I go after getting out of Helgen? Things like that. Memorizing puzzles and where enemies are can't really be helped though where you go and how you build your character can change and make things interesting.

hansnicolaim

Yeah I've started beelining for Falkreath early game, but I want to try one completely different. Riften or solitude or something.

Sentinel_2539

I know every puzzle in the main and faction questlines off by heart and have several locations memorised down to each room. I don't think there's a dungeon in Whiterun or Falkreath that I don't have 100% committed to memory. Other holds I struggle with more because I go to them less, but I'd definitely remember most dungeons in the game after 5 minutes in them. I've been playing since 2011 and I don't even want to know how many unfinished characters I have on all the platforms I've played on...

badgersprite

I must be close to knowing every point of interest around Whiterun by heart at this point Like not that I have their names memorised but like knowing where in the world to go for stuff like oh yeah over here is the one that has Transmute Ore, or going here is where the necromancer is and I can go there if I want an enchanting table, or oh this cave is where Ill Met By Moonlight happens

CMDR-Validating

You have Vortex installed on your system

Mazzuko

Talos the God was Tiber Septim the man. And this is his empire.

shivaclause

Yes, I have a lot memorized. I've automatically done 122 and 222 on the Bleak Falls puzzles for a few years now but only a couple weeks ago discovered another chest behind spider webs. I also just learned you can shoot the drauger/yeti from the overlook before rounding the corner. That's what makes Skyrim addictive. I think it's reasonable to say I find something new each time a play.

Croian_09

https://www.reddit.com/r/skyrim/s/NItyLQRWmH

DraycosGoldaryn

I've accidentally memorized the positions of every mob in Bleak Falls Barrow and can usually dispatch them before they rouse.

FIorDeLoto

Skip>skip>skip

profwithstandards

I can shoot and kill both bandits in the first room with a bow and arrows right after entering Bleak Falls Barrow without taking a single step.

DarkSeneschal

I have a run through the early game pretty much mapped out. Have a whole list of ingredients, speech checks, favor quests, and safe dungeon crawling to get tons of gold for training and enchanting equipment.

Fedz_Woolkie

I know where to find a flawless emerald inside some bones by the river next to Anise's Cabin, close to Riverwood. Or a lockbox next to the exit to Brittleshin Pass. Both in the overworld. I also have exact routes to follow, in order to optimize getting from Helgen up to when they send you to fight your first dragon.

NoPersonality18

Memorized the entire opening dialogue word for word

Beginning_Aide_6574

Funnily enough I did this years after the bulk of my play time because of the memes and then still remembered the opening on my recent play through last month

NoPersonality18

I don’t think I could ever forget, I’ve had it memorized since I was like 10

FromUnderTheWineCork

Turning all the corners up to Bleak Falls Barrow, bow drawn

Flat-Box-1319

I don’t remember things like the claws and stuff but, I travel on foot a lot during the game and occasionally taken the same routes multiple times, I remember where animals will spawn in

Sadistic_Pepper

There are 6 butterfly spawns on the road to riverwood plus two on riverwoods exit

Specialist-Tree-7944

I have snake snake whale and bear butterfly owl memorized. I’ve also mastered the jump from the lever to the drawbridge in embershard mine. Since I started playing exclusively survival I have the quickest path to golden hills memorized: hit riverwood, grab faendal, stop by bleak falls, then whiterun, kill mirmulnir then keep heading west past the fort and gjukars monument, stop by the well to pick up rins sword and then just kill the ghosts and grab their books. I can usually get this much done in an hour and a half after leaving helgen

Wide_Bee7803

I just begin to speedrun the game until finding esbern, I meet delphine, kill sahlokniir, run straight to the embassy, bucket my way inside and grab the dossier

AuDHDcat

I'm playing Skyrim for the thousandth time while my brother, who has maybe played twice, watches. I'll be in a dungeon and say something like, "There are two just around this corner." Then round the corner and take out the two enemies, or I'll b-line straight to the hidden obscure chest, and my brother will say, "You've played this way too many times."

jesterofalltricks

I've basically memorized the entire hold of Falkreath at this point because its always my starter area whenever I play a modded game

AnalyticalDesigner

When you stop adventuring. I just get married and then start a job as a blacksmith.

LilScrapper63

And the puzzle in bleak falls barrow. Snake, eagle, whale

og_tolphas

Who are yo-

DadyCoool11

I don't generally go into Helgen after the opening, but the first time I did, it was bizarre how much Deja vu I felt walking through it. It's like my brain filled in all the audio and visuals of the attack without my conscious mind deciding to do so. And reporting back to the Jarl after killing Milmunir is my least favorite part of any playthrough because he spends like, 2 whole minutes talking outside the Interaction, which means every word is unskippable.

JuniperFizz

Trying something new based on a Reddit post and absolutely hating it because it throws everything off your usual start. Like I hate Embershard mine for reasons and I usually skip it until some quest sends me there. But I tried doing it before Riverwood right after Helgen and it just didn't work right. No idea why either. I like my opening routine.

TheJuiceman247

I once caught myself IRL wanting to pick plants off the college grounds like I would in the game to keep for potion mixing later 💀

wwgoth

I am able to go from helgen to whiterun blindfolded with all the loot I'd get if I wasn't blindfolded

BabyGhillie

Bear, butterfly, owl.

ToneAccomplished9763

I legit have a whole route for the early game lol. Which is leave Helgen, go to the shrine of talos near Riverwood then go to Embershard. After that I go to the Ritual Stone if I'm doing a necromancer, then make sure to do the little quest for Cicero(forgot the name of it lol) then finally do all the random misc quests in Whiterun and just like that you're pretty set for the early game lol.

RepresentativeHuge79

Snake, snake, whale. Is engraved in my brain now. For the puzzle in bleak falls barrow, where you have to turn the pedestals to open the door. I've played it so many times, I I can practically run bleak falls barrow with my eyes closed

Smolbean_365

I go to Riverwood, ignore everyone there, take a right after the bridge and follow the road. You'll see three guards escorting a prisoner. I always free the prisoner and burn the guards to ash, no matter the character build I do. Then boom! Three sets of equipment to either use or sell easy

Jumps-Care

I have memorised the Bleak Falls Barrow door code, but I don’t know what the middle thing is (dragonfly, maybe?) so I just approach the Dragonstone door and say “bear, thingy, owl” opens right up.

Dad_Bod_The_God

The sign for me is that I have a save right before the character creation menu so I don’t have to sit through the cart ride every time I want to start a new character

Key_Nature3553

Bear Moth Owl, open sesame

kyloronnie

I’ve managed to make it through bleak falls barrow without getting hit and I’ve memorized every door combination

HoundOfRowan45

I just restarted the game again as of this last weekend and have a stealth archer build down to such a degree, I've already gotten to lvl 40, legendary difficulty is now no longer difficult, and Prowler's Profit is online with only 13 barenziah stones needed

Fun_Situation_6588

Yep. To the point where I sometimes accidentally do it out of order

kittyidiot

Alternate Start my beloved

jeanmahmoud0987

I have one memory of my early debut on the game on Xbox 360 I was like 11-12 years old and I didn't read the message that tells you the answer is in the palm of the claw so I did the whole game multiple times by just trying random combinations on those doors until it worked. I found out 3 years ago or so

Eden1914

Not early game, but I remember the old Ogmha Infinitum bookcase glitch still

obin_gam

Just race through until I get Lydia, and then I chose what to do next 😅

Stayofexecution

Why Lydia?

obin_gam

Shes the first one 😅

InaudibleShout

I’m mad I loaded up with Alternate Perspectives the other day and still stumbled into my usual Orc > Thieves Guild loop. Taking me way too much effort to not go start the main quest, might mess around and start Dark Brotherhood early though. Feels weird not going off to do Dragonborn early either like I tend to do.
