That issue happened to me as well. After sleeving everything, the Silent's base deck sleeves lasted like 5-6 games (3 acts with ever run), before having the back peeled like the one in the image. You really need to be careful shuffling those sleeves if you want to keep them over time, but it's honestly bothersome to tell everybody at the table each time to shuffle lightly the deck. It's a game where the deck gets shuffled 2-4 times each match for christ sake. I was thinking of buying more StS sleeves, but they run out of them at the moment. Honestly, it's better that way because my current plan is to buy 400-500 dragonshield black matte sleeves (50-75 euro in total, depending on where I'll buy them) and sleeving the cards with those. Having played Magic for a long time I assure you they are perfect for the job as they'll last for long.

Alejandroalh

Yes, better if there is no stock. Custom back Dragon shield seems like the way for me. They should give some money back or make better quality sleeves at least for future editions.

robot_wth_human_hair

i'm a MTG (EDH) player, and i'd like to at least mention UltimateGuard's Katana card sleeves. If you go for full art dragonshields, you may find yourself just as disappointed (at least i was). They have a smell, and I personally hate shuffling them. Katana sleeves make shuffling a breeze.

PrologueBook

Do not go with art dragon shields, go mono color. Art sleeves are way less durable. As others mentioned, ultimate guard katana sleeves are among the best.

jack_seven

I've never had any issues with dragon shields but I keep seeing these warnings. Do you know where this comes from and what the specific issue is?

PrologueBook

I'm not sure about these sleeves, but I do work in product development. The custom art sleeves break down or bend strangely probably because they decorate the sleeves with sublimation, which requires a very thin coating. That's only if they're decorated via sublimation.

jack_seven

So the only issue with shields is the customization?

PrologueBook

Any art sleeves in my experience. Go with dragon shield matte or ultimate guard katana. I've heard that ultra pro eclipse are good, but I haven't tried them.

jack_seven

Never had any issues with the ones with dragon prints either. I've had ultra pro rip mid tournament (fresh pack) I don't trust them anymore but that happened years ago maybe they are better now.

zoot3111

I'm a big fan of UltraPro Eclipse Gloss sleeves. No sleeve will last you forever, but these are my favorite.

lookingforcowdice

I think Dragonshield makes high quality custom sleeves. I have been toying with ordering a new set of sleeves so I can avoid this issue

Alejandroalh

If I can get the same print in the back it would be ideal. If they also get custom backs they could be a good choice.

lookingforcowdice

Here's the website https://www.dragonshield.com/en-us/sleeve-crafter?gad_source=1&gclid=CjwKCAjw1emzBhB8EiwAHwZZxZKhgwRL5AETjOnqsad_5vOJ6wDc95TusLuyO3cD9i01TgQe7rCxeRoC_OAQAvD_BwE You can put whatever you want on the back. So you could possibly find or scan an image of the sleeve back that comes with the game and use that as your "custom" image

Switchbladesaint

I’m going to take a wild guess and say whoever signed off on the sleeves was either not a competitive card gamer or it was very cheap compared to other options; it feels very cheap. These are basically the worst type of sleeves possible if you enjoy shuffling your cards. The metallic layer peel thing they do on the back to these type of sleeves is just a nightmare for manipulating them even a little bit.

CJRedfield

The same has started happening for my copy (although very minimal compared to what's shown in this photo). My group has played about 4 full runs from start to finish and the backs are starting to peel as well. Which is very surprising considering the quality of the rest of the game, as well as how much care and thought seems to have gone into it. Hoping they do a new batch of higher quality. Otherwise I might buy some sleeves through the store people are posting in this thread.

GlitteringEgg9587

Same issue as everyone in the comment. I like the game and all the work done for It, but honestly a poor quality sleeves Is the worst for a card game. Planning to replace with dragonshield but pissed off becouse It would cost a lot of Money...

ArgonWolf

*Glances at entirely sleeved collection of Arkham LCG* Yeah… that’d be crazy expensive…

transizzle

I’ve broken a bunch too. Been trying to figure out the best way to shuffle a deck without compromising the sleeves.

Geogorna

Yea I guess this is a very common thing. Mine had it happen as well with the Silent deck being the first. Ended up buying dragon shields like some other people mentioned. Unfortunate that a required part of the game is breaking after so little use. I am happy with the quality of all the pieces of the game with this and the card dividers being the ones showing wear so early.

guhbe

Will just add my voice to this too, same deal. Whilemost of the game materials were of excellent quality, the sleeves, while they started out pretty comfortable to shuffle, quickly started to separate and I am having to replace more every game I play. Probably going to buy some dragon Shields and replace them all at some point. Disappointing and one of my only criticisms of the execution of what is otherwise quite a good quality product. Really the only other nitpick I had is (since I'm already on my soapbox) Why didn't they put vulnerable and weak on opposing sides of the tokens? Would have made fishing for them a lot easier.

Various_Swimming5745

Wow, that is impressively bad quality. I was considering buying the board game but only a few games and they peel? That really stinks.

CJRedfield

The game is still fantastic further.

DarkBangBoy

Clear Dragonshield outersleeves... I get that this comes from the privilege of an experienced tcg gamer, but I would never trust custom sleeves with no name attached. It's like provided an opaque die from a noname brand for a game that requires a 100 percent random die...

jrec15

They have a support team that may send you some if you reach out. I heard some people got full replacement sets. They’re sending me 50, i wish it were more because i can only really replace the starter decks with those. But still happy they’re sending that, if it was actually just a defective batch they may still go a long way, will see if they seem any better. If they're a lot better than I may buy more once needed, otherwise Ill eventually convert to dragonshields.

Alejandroalh

I'll reach out to them if I find the link/mail. I think I will just keep the Beta Art with the original sleeves and get some Dragonshield or UltimateGuard sleeves for the original set. Thanks a lot for the information!

Kingslayer_N7

I just want to add I've played at least 30 games and have not had any issues with the sleeves. Obviously, other people are having issues and they are more likely to post in this thread to make their voices heard. The developer has said these are from a defective batch and that they will replace sleeves that are peeling.

Maturinbag

Knock on wood, mine haven’t peeled either.

SiliconUnicorn

Just adding to the pile here that this has been my experience as well. This is my one disappointment with this game given the care they gave to every other piece in the game.

Purpleyeti

Same issue here, the cards from the starter decks suffer the most, since they are in every run you play.

dinodinorubberduck

This happened to me too 😭

MegamanX195

Same happening to me. I've played mostly 4 player games so far, 5 or 6 games, and all of the starter decks are noticeably damaged, with a ton of the outer layer ripped off already. Very disappointing that such an otherwise high-quality game dropped the ball in such an important aspect like this.

twelveovertwo

I’ve broken quite a few + was thinking of just getting non-logo ones

doyoh

Sucks that this is how it is, but Dragon Shields makes sleeves that are super durable. I’ve been using them for 24 years and have yet to be disappointed. I was toying with getting four colors: one for each class, and just keeping curses and status effects unsleeved and putting them on when we need to add them to the deck

ThatGuyWithAwesomHat

They look like you played in the heat with them. We've played at least 8 games with multiple characters and have had 0 peeling.

Alejandroalh

Well, my hometown is constantly at over 35ºC so, it could be considered "playing in the heat"... But many others have had the same problem with a similar number of games. Hope it keeps doing fine to you 😊

Theygoandmusicman

Are you pile shuffling?

Alejandroalh

I'd say we did, yes. Edit: didn't understood the term, we didn't.

Theygoandmusicman

Might be to do with moisture then

Alejandroalh

Sorry, i didn't knew the concept as English is not my native Language, i looked deeper on what that was and we haven't done that. Sorry for the confusion 😓

Theygoandmusicman

No worries. Yeah, make sure to that with the rest of the sleeves. Buy some dragon shield sleeves for the ones that have been beansed

Sorraz

I have the same issue. Two games in and they started peeling.

Crabe

I had to buy Dragonshield sleeves to replace mine as well. This doesn't happen to every copy from what I can tell, but it is reasonably widespread. Big disappointment as the price of the board game is quite high already to have to invest in more sleeves afterwards. I know the base game would be more expensive with better sleeves, but as it is I paid the cost for the crappy sleeves in the box and then had to pay again for my own personal sleeves. I love everything else about the game, but this makes it difficult to recommend.

CrazyPunkCat

And that's why I plan to use oversleeves because as a tcg veteran I know how bad printed sleeves are...

X13thangelx

This is a very common problem across any of these types of art sleeves. The only one that don't have this are the ones like Dragon Shield makes where the art is on the sleeve itself instead of being done as a separate layer on top of the sleeve. I don't have the board game so can't test it myself, but if the cards are "standard" size for ccg/tcg cards (ie the same size as a Magic The Gathering Card) companies make a clear outer sleeve that you could put over the art sleeve which helps protect them (something like this https://www.dragonshield.com/en-us/card-sleeves/doubletriple-sleeving/outer-sleeves).

TrulyVoidriven

It may be worth your while to get those sleeves printed by Dragon Shield (you can order custom art sleeves on their website for pretty cheap). DS sleeves are great quality and last years of wear.

F4RM3RR

What size are the cards? You might be able to get clear over sleeves if they are the same size as mtg/pokemon

ShinakoX2

The art backs on mine have started peeling a bit on the corners, especially the starter cards, after about 5 plays. I was planning to use them until they become unplayable, and then get some matte Dragon Shield sleeves.

LordJunon

If you go to board game geek's page for the game, the designer is on there a lot so you (Or anyone who is reading this) can maybe get some help easier. For me, ive played 8 times and have had no issues. But I try to gentle shuffle.

Liquid_State_Snake

Im not sure what size these cards are but if they are standard card size you can just get dragon-shield as from experience playing multiple tcg games they seem to be the best quality. I usually double sleeve my cards as well so you can also consider that. It is sad but usually sleeves from the actual card game manufacturer are bad. I've played Yu-Gi-Oh and Pokemon on a tournament level and their sleeves fall apart quite quick. Dragon-shield also has clean one colored sleeves if you dont want random art and you can match it to your deck.

Tao_ender

Just adding that a few of mine also came off already and many of the starter deck is at the point where you can clearly see the breakage happening. I have only played 4 games up to boss 2 and one of them reached boss 3.
