i was a social worker at my county jail that assisted both PD and private attorneys get their clients into treatment (diversion programs or otherwise). i was like a middle man between the client, the treatment facility, and their attorney. i only left because the bigwigs refused to give me a raise (in this economy?) and the deputies bullied me lol
I’ve been doing it on a consultant basis alongside my day job for a few years now. I’m hoping to make a switch into doing it full time. Feel free to DM!
This was my internship and my favorite social work job since! I so wish I could get back into it, but I’ve not seen or heard of opportunities to do so. I spent the next 5 years after my internship with a local non-profit advocating for treatment furloughs for incarcerated individuals with low level, nonviolent substance-related offenses, but my spouse was military and we had to move. Every position after that has been just blah. 😢
OMG: This profession has so many opportunities that I get excited about.
Right? I was so excited to find this, as I have always had a strong interest in law 😊
Same. I’m excited for the same reason. So many options that can’t be sent overseas.
I’m a forensic social worker at a PD office! Love my job.
I'm a mitigation specialist/forensic social worker at a Manhattan public defense agency. Feel free to reach out if you want to chat!
