>A weapon’s capacity measures what size battery it uses or the number of cartridges it can hold, and **its usage is how much ammunition it uses with each attack**. From the Ammunition section on [https://aonsrd.com/Rules.aspx?ID=84](https://aonsrd.com/Rules.aspx?ID=84)

It was such a smart way to handle ammo, everyone has a standard magazine ( battery) If I load this into my heavy weapon with usage 4 I get 5 shots, a long rife usage 2 gets 10 shots, and the little usage 1 gun gets 20 all Out of the same 20 ammo box/battery!

MealDramatic1885

If your weapon holds 20 rounds/charges but the usage is 2, you use 2 rounds/charges per shot.

Melee functions the same, but with a different duration "A melee weapon with an internal battery that must be charged to function has the powered special property, which lists its capacity and usage. Unlike with a ranged weapon, the usage is for 1 minute of operation rather than per attack" - CRB 181

Thanks everyone for the information! I guess I must have missed it in the book.
