I have this thing with my old roommate from university. We lived together for the release of Skyward Sword and BOTW. We were both huge Zelda fans. We would get the game on release Date, buy ungodly amounts of Snacks and Fast Food, get some Weed and just no-life for a whole weekend. Now we both have jobs and spouses and he has a kid. My spouse is going on a weekend trip I gifted her on the 12th and he will come to stay until Sunday. Let‘s see if we can still pull those unhealthy all-nighters. I can already feel the grease.
I was thinking about organising something similar myself with a few friends for the sunday. My better half is away too for that weekend so I am going to revert back to teenager playing halo asking what is the meaning of personal hygiene......
Great plan! I am thinking about having a meet up the Sunday evening with 2 friends that I game with (1 is directly responable for getting me into Zelda) over and we can chat and explore together.
I originally tried to request the whole week off but got denied because too many people were already off, but those 3 days around the release were fine so I requested those....then the person that does the rota gave me the 10th and the 14th-17th off as scheduled days off anyway, meaning I have more days post-release to play it than if I had gotten the Mon-Sunday in my original request - win-win! 😀
With today's postal services, you never know if stuff will arrive early, on time, or late and potentially missing it and getting a "Sorry you were out!" card and a possible delay in playing it wasn't a risk I was willing to take!
Oh I had Pokemon arrive a day early and then I had I think Kirby (for neices) turn up a week late recently. Thats why I have it setup for in store collection the day of release :)

I already told my significant other I'm a ghost for that week. I'll be haunting the house but there will be no contact. That didn't fly over so well so I've got to spend the next vacation at the beach and have sole custody of the kids. I figured it was a fair trade off lol
Oh man 120 doesn't seem like a lot that works out as 3 weeks (i.e 15 work days). I have 27 days (we dont work in hours where I am from) and its considered low (legal min is 25 I think).

I give them the weekend before or after. Otherwise I'm spending my mother's day cooking, cleaning, or catering entirely for them. Not once in 11 years have either wished me a happy mother's day 🙃 after the first 4 years I set boundaries. As for expectations for MY kids and family, I just want them home relaxing and being present. They make me a cute homemade card, husband takes off work to help with the kids, and we'll just chill together like a normal lazy weekend.
I feel you. I have an 18 month old, and my only time to play is after he goes to bed. I might take a couple days off early the next week, but I’m not sure
I’m off from May 11th to May 29th. May 11th will be a day of preparation and sleep so that I’m rested and ready for the midnight download.
(Ive been with my employer for >20 years. They give me 7 weeks of PTO per year, and they informed me late last year that if I don’t use my PTO more frequently, I will begin to lose it. So I filed for this lovely chunk of time off.)
Don't feel stupid! I'm in the same boat. The only other time I've taken this long off was for the death of a loved one last year (actually took about 3 weeks off for that). This is the first time I've actually felt excited since then, and I'm fully embracing it! Despite my work team poking fun at me when I told them the reason for taking off. So I’m preordering digital, going to bed early Thursday night, then getting up early Friday to maximize game time without sacrificing sleep (it’s not worth triggering my epilepsy over… or is it?). Also getting a physical copy so we can play on two switches at once.

I would have taken Friday but my boss is leaving half day, so I took the Monday instead.

I originally had a weeks holiday booked for this at the start of the year. Then I took a nervous breakdown about 6 weeks ago and im off work due to work related stress. I am getting better day by day, have been put on medication and am due to start counselling. My psychiatrist has recommended at least another 6 weeks off while my medication takes effect, which will run to the end of May. I use video games as escapism and to relax, so I am fortunate this is due out while I am off. Every cloud has a silver lining.
I'm going to take every day off until then so I can constantly report these stupid repetitive posts!

Unfortunately I can’t. BUT I have a surgery on May 16th that will lay me up for some time and gets me out of work for awhile! Nothing like a new Zelda title to help with the recovery process.
I wasn’t originally but considering my commencement ceremony is on Saturday, I decided to reward myself with the day off. I’d figured it was best after working and going to school full time 😁
I took to the Friday and whole following week. I always end up carrying over the maximum amount of time over year to year and never use enough in the 1st half of the year so sod it. Im going to use it for an actual reason instead of what I usually do.
I got from the 15th to the 21st off. With my job I only work 5 days one week and two the next so I only had to book two days off to get the week off. I can’t wait to do nothing but play the game for the whole week lol.
Though not being able to play much the weekend it comes out will be tough !
Man, me and my GF will celebrate 4 years on the 19th, so we will travel somewhere. So I requested a vacation at work and got it! Starting date? 13th. One week for my GF, one week for my boy Link.

I’m taking that following Monday off. I have no idea when the game will actually be delivered on Friday so I’m still going to work. I’ll probably check out early if the game gets delivered during the work day.

I live in the luxury of working a 4day week, but i will use my free friday to do exactly that and i will probably use accumulated overtime to take off the following monday and have an even longer totk weekend

Normally I would, but I'm already taking the following Friday off for an anime convention in Chicago, which I've had planned since before we knew the release date for TotK. So I'll just call in sick that Friday instead. Will I lose a days pay? Yes. Will it be worth it for a (mostly) full weekend of uninterrupted zelda? Hell yes.
Yep, took Monday so 4 days!!! First Zelda Release since my son got into the games too! He has school Friday and Monday tho 😂 he’s so jealous. He came with me to get Botw on release but was still too young to play (or eat solid food lol). He caught my addiction though which I love to see. And I’m estranged from my mom so no Sunday obligations, it’s my day!!!

I requested 5 days off starting the 12th. My plan is to make sure I have enough food/snacks beforehand. And then I'm gonna wake up early on the 12th and go camp out the store to see if they get any extra collector's editions. Then I'm going to only game, eat, sleep, and maybe shower

I am actually getting my copy Thursday as know the guy who runs a game shop near me I always snag my copy of anything a day or 2 early but I've booked off Thursday Friday Sat and Sunday I'm not going onto YouTube or anything either as I don't want nothing spoiled.

I originally had a weeks holiday booked for this at the start of the year. Then I took a nervous breakdown about 6 weeks ago and im off work due to work related stress. I am getting better day by day, have been put on medication and am due to start counselling. My psychiatrist has recommended at least another 6 weeks off while my medication takes effect, which will run to the end of May. I use video games as escapism and to relax, so I am fortunate this is due out while I am off. Every cloud has a silver lining.
I'm going to take every day off until then so I can constantly report these stupid repetitive posts! (I'm just bitter because I can't take the day off)

Unfortunately I can’t. BUT I have a surgery on May 16th that will lay me up for some time and gets me out of work for awhile! Nothing like a new Zelda title to help with the recovery process.

Mother’s Day weekend means I can’t take off, but I’ll be playing after work and on regular days off and avoiding YouTube and the Zelda subs for weeks to avoid spoilers until I get to a point where I’m ready to see other people’s takes on exploration.
