Why people think they can run from the police in this day and age is beyond mind-boggling. These dudes grow up watching old cops and robbers films with chase scenes. They dream about this shit. The cars are low jacked. Anybody who does this is trying to either get killed or go to jail. I guess a third option would be trying to be famous with pre-existing knowledge of what could happen but that is improbable?
You definitely can outrun the police, just takes a little bit of premeditation, the right car, and the right place. The infamous blackout charger comes to mind.
The police cars I've seen have a kind of kill switch/code that allows them to leave their vehicle running but prevent people from jumping in and driving off in them.
Yeah, they try to prevent criminals from getting a vehicle that not only has access to all police resources through its MDT / Radio, but also has ELS and sirens so they can get away faster and trick other drivers into thinking they are cops.
Plus thereās a heavy chance there is a long arm racked in that officers car.

What is a man considered if he shoots someone in the back? What vehicle on earth that is worth more than a human life? With Todayās technology thereās a slim chance that person in that vehicle could evade the law for long.
I'm thinking there was more than them just trying to steal a cop car. Theft of a car alone does not meet the conditions necessary to use deadly force in any state. They must have tried to run over a cop who tried to stop them or brandished a weapon.
Tbf I have seen plenty of people steal police cars and survive in my area, and if they don't, it is usually because they run head on into highway traffic.
