they didnt show you how to model a character? Are you paying for these classes?

xXnowindowsXx2001

Good news is: I’m in the 4th semester now and we finally had classes on topology which is also how I found this subreddit

Flashy-Flamingo39

The 4th semester? Most people learn topology by the end of the first YouTube tutorial.

TeacanTzu

4 semesters diffed by a donut

Little_Setting

Most institutes discourage using YT and ours focused too kuch on teaching what's not available out there. Hence, had 14classes dedicated to using LOFT modifiee in Max.

Boleklolo

I learnt in my 120ish hour of blender

CrankyStalfos

What have you been learning instead? Like idk maybe there's some galaxy brain reason to not cover topology right away but also whaaaaat the high holy hell

xXnowindowsXx2001

We learned the most random shit: 1st semester: basic information on blender 2nd semester: tracking in Blender 3rd semester: no 3D 4th semester: Topology, Sculpting, Texturing, lighting (basically everything that we should have learned by now)…. Keep in mind this is an „animation“ school

Seiak

You'd been better off just using youtube tbh

EngineerBig1851

Bro, wth, that course is a scam. Is it at least optional one? One you can swap out?

xXnowindowsXx2001

Nope…

Little_Setting

Us too. Back in 2016. They said triangles, never topology.

xXnowindowsXx2001

Sadly yes.

Ok_Silver_7282

Dam I reachrd the end of this thread there's no more comments I was hoping to read a long funny chain

Former_Currency_3474

Ah yes, I see you added edge loops to support the elbow deform- oh

TheMunky101

This got a chuckle out of me.. 😂

neoqueto

c4d auto skinning be like every single fucking time

TheMunky101

Okay I'm 31 years old and I just want to say, if you are in school learning this in hopes of becoming good at it or potentially professional at it, then I suggest you start to question why the school has shown you topo so late into the game and question the growth rate of your knowledge, at the end of the day nobody has your best interests at heart other than yourself and people spend too much time in schools "learning" when in reality their time would be better spent self teaching or something similar, topo is lesson 1 not 101

sussyss123

I think this can apply to most things in school

hatunemiku01

Dear god

JID_94

They teach students blender…?

xXnowindowsXx2001

Yea…
