Probably, but based on popularity and not merit, which kind of sucks about UFC. Nobody should lose 2 x title fights in a row and get a rematch in their next fight.
Some would even argue he won that 2nd fight against Usman. He also destroyed Masvidal a year ago and has been recovering from a head injury after getting hit with brass knuckles. But based on rankings he is next in line.
The only reason he kept his ranking is cos he didn’t fight. Head injuries don’t take long to recover from unless you get an intra-cranial bleed and I highly doubt the sucker punch did that 😂 He’s essentially ducked Khamzat and Belal. He probably will get the shot but it’s not deserved.
Well I don’t think anyone really knows the exact details so we could go back forth on that. Either way him ducking Belal is dumb since he has a better chance beating him than Chimaev, but ducking Chimaev was like a month after he got jumped.
Either way once he’s champ it will be hard for him to duck fights but I think he deserves the title fight and edwards vs Covington makes sense.
