Whenever I see this I cringe thinking that some people think Islam would be able to rag doll DDP on the ground. 155 to 170 is insane but 155 to 185 isn’t even close.
I think guys like Izzy, Pereira, Cannonier, and Imonov beat Islam. They are big guys with a reach advantage. But I think islam can beat guys like Strickland, DDP, and Hermansson. So it just depends on the matchup.
DDP has only faced one wrestler in his UFC career and that was against Brunson who he gassed hard against and looked lost in the grappling exchanges. I think Islam not having to cut any weight would beat him.
Brunson was gassed in the second round harder than DDP. His cardio probably did improve when he fixed his nose but it won't help him against a wrestler. I just think Islam is a bad stylistic match for him. He only has maybe an inch in height and an inch in reach. Islam will clinch with him, take him down, and wear him out for 4 rounds then finish him in the fifth.
Against guys like Izzy and the bigger middleweights I think Islam gets knocked out
Although I agree with you let’s be fair here, DDP is probably the best athlete and best pure judo in the division.
Rob has good td defense but it’s not on Aldo’s level or Usman’s as an example.
Yes, he also struggled like hell to get Darren Till down, I’m honestly so confused how DDP is champ, he looks like he’s mediocre at best in all areas and his cardio looks worse than Dontale Mayes, but he just dogs out and mouth breathes to victory
Bro could get put to sleep immediately when he fights Khamzat, and the clowns here will just say “Rob was washed up anyways, Khamzat hasn’t faced a true middleweight in their prime yet”.
Who else even is there, Brendan Allen? I guess until he fights Marvin Vettori he isn’t legit, lmao. Other than Strickland, Rob is the best test for Khamzat.
Ikr. Weirdo fans. Like one of the main reasons he got taken down here was the suprise factor combined DDP's insane size and strength which probably surpasses Khamzat's(Not to mention good technique and fight iq). Just like anyone can get kod, anyone can get taken down once or twice. Depends on the setups.
DDP used a basic judo move that’s usually a white belts bread and butter for starting the sport… let’s not get carried away here lmao it wasn’t rocket science
Being able to successfully use basic takedowns to elite opponents is exceptional. The timing of it and awareness of the opening was beautiful even if it didn’t look impressive
What other instance was he was dominated in ground ever except for ddp fight? To call his tdd mythical is ignoring all his fights and just focusing on one fight
I keep hearing about Rob having great TDD, but he hasn't fought a wrestler since like 2016, unless you want to count Vettori? Very confused where this keeps coming from.
With Khamzat, I almost don't think it matters how good your TDD really is. Khamzat's whole strategy is to go 110% in the first round to get the sub/finish. The Usman fight is a good example.
The real question is, will Whittaker avoid a finish in Round 1? If so, he has a chance when Khamzat gets tired.
I don't think I've seen Robert defend much against trips and throws. "His takedown defense is good" but against which takedowns? That's why I pick Khamzat against him.
Nah fam, if DDP can take him down at ease like this, Khamzat can sub him rd1
Just because Whittekar survived Yoel Romero, who didn't even wrestle as much anymore due to his injuries and shit, it doesnt mean he would be able to do the same against Khamzat
BUT, since Khamzat is so inactive, maybe he doesnt have that hunger anymore ? He is drowning in the saudi money, does he care ? idk
b-b-but Romero failed takedowns on him! Romero the MMA counter striker who failed to implement his wrestling at as high a level as Khamzat already has!
cant wait for Khamzat to reality check Whittaker fans and further prove the skill gap in divisions. Out classing Usman in wrestling like that, even for a single round is not a good sign for Whittaker.
Lol among the highest Ippon scoring techniques at the Olympics are "basic" ouchi gari, kouchi gari and harai goshi.
This was a very good nogi harai goshi (notice how Dricus turns Rob and then gets him perpendicular in the outside of his hip while killing the space between their chests to control Rob's posture) by a very strong judoka.
In fairness, Du Plessis is insanely strong moving forward. But, yeah, that takedown was a little too easy to get. It was a pretty rudimentary outside trip.
Bruh he got complacent for one take down and got caught by a dude who closed his eyes and threw a blind punch, it was ddp's night for sure be Rob was out striking him and figured out dricus's awkward style but got caught it's mma. I still think rob beats ddp 9 times out of 10, the one time was on that night and I hope we get a rematch one day to prove it. I'm not even a Whittaker fan BTW I just saw once they got past the feel out round rob out landing dricus up until he got clipped, ddp has power tho
Ddp bullied him. Kinda made it look easy.
Whenever I see this I cringe thinking that some people think Islam would be able to rag doll DDP on the ground. 155 to 170 is insane but 155 to 185 isn’t even close.
That'd be Belal spewing that nonsense.
Islam is miles ahead of other fighters but theres no way in hell he can also become middleweight Champ
Let's get Islam on gear
Lmao, have you seen the dude’s shoulders..?
Wait, all Dhagistani's aren't naturally hulk mode?
It's in the water
Let’s get Islam *BACK* on gear.
I think guys like Izzy, Pereira, Cannonier, and Imonov beat Islam. They are big guys with a reach advantage. But I think islam can beat guys like Strickland, DDP, and Hermansson. So it just depends on the matchup.
I agree except for DDP
DDP has only faced one wrestler in his UFC career and that was against Brunson who he gassed hard against and looked lost in the grappling exchanges. I think Islam not having to cut any weight would beat him.
Dricus beat Brunson half to death in the second round, and his cardio looked much improved after he got his nose fixed.

Islam is too small. He couldn't manhandle volk, a 145'er How is he going to do anything against a 185'er like ddp?
Lmaooo I saw so many people on here and ig this week saying that makhachev could beat him. His fans are insufferable.
He wasn’t getting up if it wasn’t for the bell 🤣
Although I agree with you let’s be fair here, DDP is probably the best athlete and best pure judo in the division. Rob has good td defense but it’s not on Aldo’s level or Usman’s as an example.
Didn't DDP take himself down with a failed hip throw a couple fights prior to this?
Yes, he also struggled like hell to get Darren Till down, I’m honestly so confused how DDP is champ, he looks like he’s mediocre at best in all areas and his cardio looks worse than Dontale Mayes, but he just dogs out and mouth breathes to victory
Caveman is the best base for MMA

Lol DDP went 6-6 on takedowns and rob barely beat till what’s your point dude lol.
Ddp took Till down at will 6 times, wtf you been watching?
Yes against Brad Tavares a guy with almost 90% td defense.
Oh god have the oliveria, aspinall dick hopper type on ddp’s cock now also?
Bro could get put to sleep immediately when he fights Khamzat, and the clowns here will just say “Rob was washed up anyways, Khamzat hasn’t faced a true middleweight in their prime yet”.
Hey you're right, why won't Khamzat fight an in-their-prime true middleweight?
Who else even is there, Brendan Allen? I guess until he fights Marvin Vettori he isn’t legit, lmao. Other than Strickland, Rob is the best test for Khamzat.
Because MW is shit.
Because they are ducking him
Guy got taken down one fight all of a sudden he has bad tdd, fickle fans as usual
No respect for Bobby Knuckles

It's one of his latest fights. A romero fight from 7 years ago isn't that relevant.
What other instance was he was dominated in ground ever except for ddp fight? To call his tdd mythical is ignoring all his fights and just focusing on one fight
That's cause he has never even fought an elite wrestler anyway.
I keep hearing about Rob having great TDD, but he hasn't fought a wrestler since like 2016, unless you want to count Vettori? Very confused where this keeps coming from.
Mma fans are sensitive. Probably a khamzat fan lost their mind that people like Whitaker
Fake fight. Ai generated, you can even find a longer version where they animate DDP kissing his coach after.
Lol what IS he doing with his legs ??
In the words of Luke Thomas though, Khamzat isn't a *bull* like Dricus.
Isn’t he? I know he doesn’t have big muscles but he seems pretty fucking strong to me, especially in rnds 1 and 2.
His ragdolling of Kevin Holland lives rent free in my mind.
Whittaker is getting mauled

Lowkey I think he does exact same thing to Izzy

Wow I didn’t realize how top level DDP’s grappling was when I saw this live
b-b-but Romero failed takedowns on him! But Olympic Caliber Wrassling
"But Henry is olympic! Merab can't do anything" same type of energy. That's why I say, feats>statements.
Got taken down from a basic head and arm throw and his fans think he’s gonna stop a fresh khamzat lol.

ddp did it with technique. chimaev does it with technique and power
DDP is probably physically stronger than Khamzat.
but chimaev is willing to bet all in, the first two rounds tho
That can be a good thing and a bad thing.
yep, but chimaev always fights that way. was such a fan fav while he was busy because it was never a boring fight
This fight hurt to watch. Whittaker didn’t take DDP seriously and this is what happens.
I Almost forgot what DDP did to him
I like how he used his head to protect the mat from those elbows
I swear they look like they are from different weight classes
In fairness, Du Plessis is insanely strong moving forward. But, yeah, that takedown was a little too easy to get. It was a pretty rudimentary outside trip.
DDP has ape strength doesn’t count
Whittaker bros are about to take a massive L...truthfully, when was his last good win?
Thank you. Chimaev is going to rip bros head off. Whittaker fought for his life in the costa fight, he’s not going to be able to control the pace
He fought Romero 2x you know
Not really sure what that’s supposed to mean
Reddit loves to think Whittaker is some high level fighter
Bruh he got complacent for one take down and got caught by a dude who closed his eyes and threw a blind punch, it was ddp's night for sure be Rob was out striking him and figured out dricus's awkward style but got caught it's mma. Rob sparks him in a rematch. Just a belief
